shouldn't have asked - soon I won't be asking for one lens, there will be a huge list :D Kja - I think I will have to think about what I want to photograph the most - there isn't a time limit to my decision so we'll see . question - but how *does* the macro lens work? I mean they take portraits but then can take these amazing shots up close. Do you have to be really close to the subject or.......????
-
LOL - there the ones I'm looking at too LOL! - My friends dad works for Canon so I found out so she told me to tell her what lens I wanted and her dad will get it for me on his 'allowance' Which one do you think is more versatile?

Through luck or another -I have found a means to get some canon lenses at a cheaper price than through the stores. Still starting out, I do see my kit as pretty well made. I have *17 - 85 IS USM lens (can't remember the f stop -3.5 or 4.0). *55 - 250 IS lens (f4.0) - basic kit lens *50 f1.8 I'm also interested in giving some macro photography a go, but not sure what would be a good lens... Or should I look at improving my telephoto lens since I shoot agility a fair bit?! I'm still, in every sense of the word a 'beginner', but this is a very good offer I can't turn down What would you recommend in terms of what you would think would be a good addition to my kit? Should I replace the telephoto, or should I get a macro lens (given I've never done macro before, or know how to use the lenses)? Thanks in advance

Ptolomy - I was entered about 3 weeks ago but somebody came into season As for the other obedience dog - it's looking good Not long to go now .

huge brag for myself today. I haven't entered the rings really since about Feb this year, with about two or three agility trials here and there - not much to really call home about . Today we entered a trial at long last and walked away with FOUR passes between the two dogs. Leo picked up 2 ADX passes with a first and second place, requiring only one more to gain his title. Kinta picked up 2 AD passes with a first and second place, requiring only one more for her title! their other runs were NQs mainly due to one clipped bar. I couldn't be more happy with them Needless to say - some of my training friends told me I need to trial more often if the dogs are going to run like that - while others told me to go away and stop hogging all the passes

We have a max of 4 dogs per class to provide individual attention, but also because of size constraints. At my club I don't know how many dogs per class.... too many -
TD & DD : What amazing shots!

http://www.digitalcamerawarehouse.com.au/prod4909.htm what about something like this?! Is it possible for something like this to work with an SLR?!

So I've been doing a photography course the past few weeks which has been great! Our topic tonight has been filters and how you can use different filters to get different effects. Has anybody used them and does anybody use them often? I currently have a UV filter on my lens but I was interested in the polarising filter as well as the filter that sort of softens the edges of an image (can't remember what it's called!?) I was searching on ebay to see what's around and came across this: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/67mm-23pc-filter-ki...id=p3286.c0.m14 Would you ever use all of them? Are there any filters that you think are 'must haves'? Especially for someone that doesn't do a lot of photo editing etc. what about in relation to dog photography/ travel photography etc? my next question is that tripods seem to be your camera's best friend We have a tripod at home, but it's a pretty bulky one that would certainly be a pain to carry around all day, particularly if you are traveling. Since I am going on a trip at the end of the year, i'm trying to find a pretty good, not too expensive tripod that may fit into a backpack? that way, if I want to take a shot of something spectacular, or a night time shot, I can use the tripod (presumably on a ledge or something?!) and capture the moment. Are there any tripods that are compact, or fold down well, but can also be used 'on the ground' too with a bit of height?! any help and information will be greatly appreciated

I love the first and last shot Pandii!

LOL - yeah it was that 'walk under niagra falls' or something like that! It was reasonably close The colourful shots are all from Prince Edward Island. All of those shots just came out amazing with such blue skies and such multicoloured buildings/ farmhouses!

Some more:

nowhere near as good as 99% of the shots in here, but I'll post anyway Took the dogs down to this lovely parkland near us and snapped some shots while strolling. Haven't really done much landscape before, so needless to say, there is plenty of room for improvement I'm not sure if the ones with the dogs in it count as landscape though :p This one the colours were all wrong
-
Oldies - but I like them - until I get more this weekend . From a recent balloon flight
-
I can't wait!! I don't have many interesting landscapes around us so I might have to be a little creative
-
TSD - Dallie's don't go with my decor :D :D
-
Right - that's it! Zig needs a new handler!!! tough luck TSD!

mym - if you cant' get a tug anywhere out of the house then I would start there first go to the park or driveway, tug for a bit before switching to balls/ food :D That way you can 'transfer the value' of the other rewards to the tug itself :p
-
:D I would use whatever he LOVES the most and keep it solely for training. A few questions: *Will he tug with those toys in the park? *Will he tug with those toys if you have a ball in your hand? Mine LOVE Sheepskin... or even dry bed - so using old dry bed, knotting it and using that as a tug ANYTHING can be a tug, we just need to make it interesting :D If he loves socks - how about a chicken neck in a couple of old socks, knot that and use it as a tug?!
-
ETA - you might find these interesting too http://susangarrett.wordpress.com/2009/01/...-motivated-dog/ http://susangarrett.wordpress.com/2009/03/...-tug-toy-ideas/ http://susangarrett.wordpress.com/2009/03/17/tug-drive/

I sympathise!!!! My Aussie used to be the same . Will he tug when you are waiting your turn at agility?! That's how I built it up - so food/ ball as a reward for the run and a tug while we wait. Gradually I introduced the tug into the run also He now tugs wonderfully I say slow and steady wins the race What type of tugs are you using?
