Rommi - I'm not sure.... Leo and Kinta fall asleep too...... Although 'big and brave' Leo decided to wake up and bark and viciously growl at the TV one night when he was a pup and we were watching the butterfly affect... Funnily enough it was happening when the kids were burning the dog, or about to :D Mum said the movie was too scary for such a young dog and to put him outside :D -

haha - I somehow think watching real dogs is easier to learn than watching DVDs ... or perhaps not I've had a few of mine learn through observing the others too -

I hope it was so! then I could just let the DVDs play all day while I let them 'rest up' while I'm at work At the end of the day I could 'test' them on what they learnt :D -
hehe - I have to share this - I'm sitting here watching an obedience DVD - chris Bach for those interested. talking about UD exercises and the scent work. Zara is sitting about 2 inches from the TV, staring INTENTLY at the TV and moving her head every time a person steps in front of her view of the articles and the dog.... Now.... if only she retains this information......

Well don AD and CK!!!! What a memorable weekend for you both!!! I am sure you will never forget it no matter what the result, but a second place is just brilliant :D

It has been added to the files in Agility Victoria list if you are on it - there is a problem with the format but I assume they will fix it soon I'm on the list helen. I checked the files section and they had Warringal but not warragul?!

haha - I know I had to figure out whether I was entering one day or two days which I only could find out pending on our obedience results last Saturday We are only doing one day Does anyone have the trial schedule? I desperately need it so I can send off my entries Thanks!

Hmmm, I can't say I've found that. But then again, after a jackpot, I often switch exercises and work on something else right away. Usually something she really likes, like between the legs heeling. I think that this would more likely happen with 'poor' use or overuse of jackpots - so the dog begins to 'expect' the larger reward, or it's become too reiable as to when the dog will get the jackpot Yes, that was the gist that I got. LP, when you said intermittent reinforcement including with clickers and following up with treats, did you mean not rewarding every time you click? Yup - not sure what I think though :D. I haven't made up my mind yet
-
;) Oi - don't bring me into it!!!! I just got miss K a bottle cruncher from the Agility Click website to 'congratulate' her on her lovely 198 score . She likes :p Yup - small i-squeaks here are about $10!!!!! Spoken like a true CR Addict!! Tell me about it .... I am not going to log on, I am not going to log on... Be back soon :D

NOOOOO!!! I was going to enter warragul trial to! Is it in VicDog mag!?!?!!? Not fair!

Interesting topic that was discussed at the recent APDT conference in Syd. It was said that through research they found that Jackpots increased the dogs motivation to learn and attempt harder BUT actually had no effects on the speed at which the dog learnt an exercise Also interesting (or perhaps not so much?!) that intermittent reinforcement (including with clickers and following up with a treat) produced an animal that will persist at behaviours and try for longer before burning out

haha I'm the same sieta, although it's kinda funny because as soon as they say "I wish my dog was as well behaved as yours" invariably ONE of them will do something they shouldn't ... I thought it really funny when I was doing weaving practice in the park one day.... I had people coming out of their houses with their kids to watch..... very embarrassing.... especially when what they were doing wasn't THAT great It's even funnier when I set up a GD box set or something

LOL - Poor you Melody ... I think I just figured out who you are We missed out on a pass and 188 in the AM because someone had a bug bite their ear in the down stays. Got a pass on 191 in the PM which was nice Leo didn't make a total fool of me in the UD ring, so that was enough for him -
I think that's fair Ness , Otherwise the dogs just get more worried and make more errors that they usually dont ;) Lucky for me - Leo was eager little beaver to keep going
-
Great advice - thanks Ness ;)

Thanks Ptolomy! it's the silliest feeling ever grinning away when your dog has a whole bunch of zero's to their name He really struggled with the seekback - he would go out a few paces and then come back and look at me. Once he picked up the scent he was REALLY good though PM trial... well I think he made up for it in Zero's (I think we only had about 50pts total ) but I was still rapt that he could do the principal parts of the exercise ;) As for Kinta.... we'll see what she pulls next time . A 200 perhaps?!?! ETA - thanks Ness... love the new siggy
