  1. I'm a bit spethial: where'd it go?! Shh - just stop talking... the more you talk, the sillier you sound!
  2. I love Kinta's face in this one! Oof - missed it! ah bugger - missed again! rollin rollin rollin
  3. Thanks everyone for your responses. Certainly much to think about. It's a tough one as my 5 year old girl has only been shown sparingly since she titled, and yet she's a nice bitch and I'd like to keep showing her among the other sports that we do. But the seasons are a PITA when you are trying to plan your trial dates. Methinks she may just get speyed after her final litter, but thats a little while off yet, so we shall see I notice that most of your girls have finished their breeding by 7-8 - does that seem to be the fairly normal age for most?? (Kinta will be finished before then I think...)
  4. Central Gippsland was so much fun and I'd love to thank the club for hosting the class. In particular I'd like to mention our grp 5 judge on sunday who ran our Best Neuter in Grp just like he would do the normal BIG. I thought it was a lovely gesture. Nice to see the class so well supported. We only got NOB both days, but I had a great time, and Leo collected some much needed points
  5. Yeah that's what I'm thinking andisa. One of my girls had a c section for her first litter so I think if she needs another when we decide to breed with her again I will probably spry her- too much risk for me . The others... Who knows! Tis annoying though when seasons clash with big events like the agility nationals!
  6. Who on here desexes their 'older' dogs and who doesn't?! Is there a particular age that you do it?! What are you reasonings for desexing/ keeping them entire? Has anyone ever regretted de-sexing a b!tch at say.... 6 or 7 and just wish they had had the ONE more litter from them?! I know that a dog that is more mature (say over 8 or 9) is at a higher risk in surgery and I also know keeping them entire for longer will increase their chances of mammary cancers/ prostate cancers etc. Just want to hear everyone's thoughts. How quickly do your dogs bounce back and if you competed in agility, how long until you would have them back trialling again?! Would you ever de-sex during a c-section if it wasn't necessary or an emergency (the desexing, not the c-section!) Just curious as you hear a lot of conflicting reports ETA - my girls are young - 19mths, 2.5yrs and 5yrs, all still breeding dogs so just thinking for the future, not really anything I'm doing now . I've only ever had desexed girls before, and they were from a shelter so desexed before I got them . My boy was done at 6mths... LOL!
  7. I can't wait to do the neuter classes :-)). See you all there! Let's hope I don't sleep in
  8. they are really cool beds and fold up so well . But not as thick as I thought they would be Squee
  9. The dogs doing those special seals must have been 'overworked' and all kissed out
  10. I got mine yesterday . Didn't have too much time to go through the stuff, but most is practical and trialling stuff . The dogs love the one and only toy they got though - a woodlands bunny
  11. Bummer that most of these neuter shows are realllyyyyy country :-(. I can't get to most of them . But I can't wait to get to the 3 in jan. my boy loves showing and hes a star at it. We are slowly plugging away toward our title. He's a real poster boy for why neuter shows should be held. A really nice example of the breed but was cryptorchid. It's nice to be able to come out and show my 'best' dog now and again :-)
  12. I'm still waiting on mine Me wants my CR order NOW!!!
  13. mine was shipped on the 10th and I forgot to check my PO box today . Hopefully get a chance to check tomorrow and my package is there
  14. Yeah I've heard this too - also more than happy to help out with the running of it if they do
  15. I've only had one litter in the 7+ years I've been involved in the breed. Started off with a pet dog, got involved with the performance side of things and took an interest in showing.... went back to the same breeder and got my first show dog (female) on a co-ownership - dog was 100% owned by me, but all breeding arrangements had to be made in discussion with the breeder. I can't recommend the experience enough even though I know it doesn't always work out well. I had 110% support, showing help from the get go and they taught me how to groom, present and handle my dogs to their best. when the time came for breeding, while the decision was driven by the breeder, they were happy to listen to my thoughts, discuss and it was NEVER "you are using this dog over her" it was "I think x y and z might be good, what do you think?!" so I learnt heaps through this experience. After the first litter K was then placed in my name, full ownership. I never had to give my breeder a litter, although with the 3rd dog (2nd show dog) I got from them she will have the first litter back, but I think that's more coz they want it, not because it was really a condition of sale. It's been an amazing experience . Even now, I know I've got someone, and the network of people that I've built up over the years to bounce off and to try and make the right decisions with my own breeding program, and establishing my own kennel name now, on the other side of the fence, with a litter I breed I will have to find someone I trust to co-own on breeders terms a pick from the litter (I can't keep it) and THAT is stressing me out! how do I find someone I can trust who won't screw me over .
  16. LOL I think they must be cursing all of us DOLers and Aussie agility fanatics!!!
  17. I have a hydrobath that I purchased 2nd hand 12 months ago. It is a Melbourne Dog centre one, no heating, single tank. I've been very pleased with it, until the pump carked it last week, so that's cost me about $600 to fix. All in all, the hydrobath, which I assume after today will be working good as new has cost me $1200 including the new pump. Given that this has happened in just under 12months, I'm in two minds - it's great that the $$ was spread out over 12mths rather than trying to find $2000 in one hit to buy one, but then I have NO money at the moment, so the money for a new pump is a big expense... so I guess I don't know whether I would buy 2nd hand again... My hydro resides in my garage and is used almost weekly as my dogs are indoor dogs, I LOVE grooming and they are regularly shown. I find a good wash and dry does their coats much better than a weekly brush . The downsides is that I have no water in my garage and to install it would cost me big $$. Eventually I'd like to build a grooming shed to the side of the house, install a tank and run the water from there... but that won't happen for years yet. My hydro is not on wheels, and I'd like it to be so that I could wheel it to my laundry tap for the fresh water to rinse off after a bath. At the moment I'm using a bucket of water to rinse off excess soap. If I were looking for a new hydrobath, a dual tub system would definitely spark my inerest as one could be for rinsing and one for washing.... saves more water and makes life easier for me... The main things I am looking for in a hydrobath... * Easy to use - I don't want it to be overly complicated and difficult * Moveable - even if it was to permanently reside in the garage and have water access there, I still want to be able move it if I needed to *long-lasting - while price is important, if the bath was going to have a good longevity, I always prefer to pay the little extra for quality products *Easy for repairs - this was a major issue for the current hydrobath - I can't obviously take it back to Rosebud for the supplier to have a look at it, so had to get someone to come out and this cost me more than quoted if I took it down to Rosebud.... a nice easy way of fixing, or at least some referrals to a pump company that would service hydrobaths would be a great service Think that's about it!
  18. I forsee a big year for us this year - I hope we can polish off a few of these: Leo I think this will be his last year of agility trialling or at least 'serious' agility trials so I would like: *JDM title *ADO title *JDO title *Have fun at the Nationals! *RN (Possibly RA) title *A UD pass or 3! *PT title *Neuter Champion Title! He's about 1/2 way there for most of them so lets hope we can tick some off! Kinta Most importantly I'm hoping for healthy happy Kinta babies PLEASE!! *ADM title *JDO title *GET to the nationals without being in season *RN (possibly RA) title *PT title Zara I'm also hoping for healthy happy Zara babies PLEASE (and a show quality one!) *Get into an agility ring with my dad *PT/HSAs title.... Tahlia *Dear Santa - May i please have a long lucious coat on my show dog please?! *More points towards her Ch title and some classes in Group *JD title *PT title *RN title *Some awesome drive and awesomeness on the agility field!
  19. hmm... well I think Leo's is a repeat of his 2009/2010 wish list Leo Well I'd like him to still be trialling in agility and not an old fart just yet . I'd really like him to pick up his ADM (2 more to go) and JDM (5 more to go) titles - PLEASE leo keep those bars up! 1/2 done he got his ADM this year, and only has 2 more passes to go for his JDM, 1 more to go for his ADO and 2 more to go for his JDO, so all in all I think he had a great trialling year! Those JDM passes are hard to come by for a 'slower' and now older dog. It hurts as he's really consistent, usually running clear but JUST over time! I'd really like him to get his UD title, or at least passes towards it. Once again, hard to get when you pull him out for 6mths. We've had some great rounds, so I need to not be a wuss and just keep entering him! He is SOOOO close! His Neuter Champion Title Hard to get when VIC are not holding the shows! He is *almost* there, not far to go now and he's got a lovely amount of Neuter in Shows to go with his title chasing also To remain happy, healthy and the wonderful dog that he is! Check! Kinta I'd like Kinta to achieve her CDX, ADX and JDM titles!!! Not much of a list is there! She has the potential to do it if she keeps her brain in the right spot!! I'd also like her to continue growing the confidence that she has been lately and to remain the lovely dog that she is! Check! She gained her CDX title at the end of 2010 at the final trial of the year, and also gained a 3rd place pass in CDX at the Melbourne royal and an additional 2 CDX passes to go towards her top dog quallies. She gained her ADX and JDM titles on the same day WITHOUT me handling her and did it in fine style gaining an additional ADX pass also. She also gained another JDM pass at the Royal winning her 'fastest Aussie in trial'! Zara I'd like her to continue to mature and turn into a nice show dog that judges will at least look at! To learn that there IS value for agility and channel that drive for her dad so that they can have fun practicing agility together! IF we decide to breed with Zara I hope for happy, healthy babies and a stress free pregnancy and whelping!!! Breeding didn't happen as she was a little unwell this year but her agility training has come in leaps and bounds for her daddy and they are doing SO well. She's also maturing into a lovely girl! The ugly duckling DID turn into a swan Tahli Hmm... to grow up into a lovely, drivey speedy adult with a great temperament and a promising show career (with some points to her name)!! Check! She has some lovely points and nice wins, but the competition is tough over her! And she's still the same nutbag!
  20. I might come on sunday - will you be there?!
  21. Hey, Are you calling in on Sat night to the BBQ? I can make you a set you will just need to laminate them for yourself. I'm looking at doing it with Bosco, I think it will be good for the both of us. Give Bosco some confidence again! Hmmm... I don't think I am because I'm going out for Dad's birthday. But I'm sure you could leave it there and I can pick it up another day.... Actually maybe not - who know what you girls are like after you've had a few Am so bummed I can't make it!!! But I would love a set!!
