  1. I just can't believe she actually had to ask them to help her they were so intent on filming...
  2. Yep :) They actually get shortages of it sometimes  It's a slightly bigger bag and it's about $1 cheaper.
  3. Mita, the kmart one works out even cheaper if you are interested ;)
  4. It's ok Anne they are busy outside but they are very good at giving an animal space when needed. If you had met amber when she first arrived you would understand why we aren't worried. She was much more timid than this girl and we have completely turned her around. Plus when you met them they had been stuck in the car for 2 hours and were anticipating a trip to the beach, it was all a bit overwhelming
  5. Sail away when I have spare funds she's going to make some for my kelpie and Bassett ;)
  6. If they have lots of pictures then if nothing else offer them to your local childcare centre for craft, the kids would love them
  7. She still tracked litter when I tried a clay based and the paper ones but now that I'm using the crystals it's only the odd little bit, barely enough to even warrant the dust pan.
  8. I spoke to someone at the department today and they are going to phone me tomorrow. :) Will ask a bunch of questions and we'll go from there
  9. She's very scared so like Amber will just take time and love to bring her out of her shell. She'll get there eventually and I'm very patient ;) Just ordered her a nice tag with her name on it to match Amber's one and I'll get her a collar on Friday when i'm in town. Might also pull out the spare litter tray and set it up. Any thoughts on whether it is OK to set up the second litter tray near the other one? Amber's tray is next to the loo in my ensuite as we don't have an indoor laundry and I thought I could maybe just put the second one on the other side of the loo. Amber's one huge(it's a repurposed storage crate as the high sides mean she doesn't kick litter everywhere) but I don't want to upset the apple cart by only having one tray, atleast until they girls decide for themselves whether they are happy to share.
  10. Little update, Ciara's transport to me is all organised. I will be meeting her in canberra on Sunday.
  11. Is she allowed to have a bath yet? Hard boobies aren't necessarily a problem unless they are hot and infected. If she's allowed a warm bath might help, otherwise a heat pack and some gentle massage if she'll let you. If it's just a blocked duct that moght help clear it, worth a try to help get it sorted before you can get her to the vet..
  12. This survey seems completely skewed to me. If they are trying to look at the types of relationships people have with their dogs they aren't likely to get many responses from the 'I don't give a stuff about my dog' set. That's the main issue with any survey that asks for volunteers though I guess
  13. The one I use on my basset is a different brand, maybe Gentle Leader... same basic concept and fairly similiar design but it has an extra clip that attaches to the collar in case they slip their nose out of the head collar, has been in play quite a few times with my houdini
  14. I do both with my kelpie, now that she has got some age and wisdom under her belt she is fine either way :)
  15. I'd do it but I can't imagine how I could possibly take a photo of my dogs face with a neutral expression
  16. Thanks dogmad, how does it work if the rescue is Aus wide and the person who runs it is based in another state? One of us in NSW is happy to be a local contact if needed but does the 16d need to be applied for under a NSW based individuals name?
  17. I have a name. I couldn't settle on a gemstone name(and realised that my mum's recently deceased pet guine pig was called Pearl so can't go there). Went hunting and I think I've settled on the name Ciara. In it's original form it means 'black' but it's also traced back through the name Chiara which means 'light'. So light and black which pretty much describes her. I have no idea why that name popped in to my head, I've never known anyone with it but I decided to look it up and the meaning just fit, seems meant to be!
  18. I thought about Crystal but it's considered a pretty bogan name where I grew up and I'm struggling to kick that association
  19. I already have an Amber so was think about white gems, maybe Pearl...
  20. Oooo, so I get to name her too. I'll have a think
  21. Out of curiosity did the previous owner give any reason for surrendering her or was it simply that they weren't willing to pay for desexing? LOL, my cat is lying next to me and is obviously already dreaming about the new housemate as she is 'growling(howling)' in her sleep
  22. The really interesting thing will be what the british shorthair thinks of her, she already has a very well practiced grumpy face ready to roll :p
