  1. It's not used much here at all thankfully unless you have 'connections', I can get it through a family friend who has links to a chocolate factory but that's about it. It does smell divine though and I did think it would be pretty nice in a pot of strawberries or mint LOL. hadn't thought of the toxicity side of things so thanks for pointing this out.
  2. Sys details no longer available on the link, is she adopted?
  3. My only concern is that it's permethrin. Isn't that bad for cats? The cat often sleeps on the back of the lounge.
  4. I bought the Mortien one that does the eggs as well(incidentally the Baygon one doesn't break the cycle only does adult fleas, doesn't have the second ingredient), so everything will be getting sprayed today. Luckily most of our house is tiled except for the bedrooms(and the animals don't go there) so there aren't too many hidey places. The cat and dogs get done regularly with Advantage/advantix so they are good. If I have left over I'm going tos pray a bit around on the lawn out the front as I'd almost guarantee that's where they came from as thats where all the roos chill out.
  5. Unfortunately it's an open plan house so there's no way to close off the area with the tanks, one of the tanks is six foot so i can't move them either.
  6. She's a spammer Melina, 6 posts in 6 threads and all advertising
  7. Canine does the lot and comes in different pack sizes http://www.vetnpetdirect.com.au/Canine-Allwormer-Tablets
  8. No, my mum is deathly allergic to macadamias so I usually avoid anything with them.
  9. Maybe not, just a thought as it was a very puzzling situation for us at the time too. I'd lso be worried about lesions and things, XRay wonn't necessarily pick up all soft tissue stuff.
  10. She never appeared unwell, just unable to stand, we though she might have been bitten by a snake as we were in Vic too so no ticks.
  11. My kelpie became partially paralysed after she ate something she shouldn't have. The vet and us still don't know what she ate, the only suggestion the vet could make was maybe she has eaten a dead bird that was VERY far gone or something along those lines and there was a nasty bacteria that poisoned her system maybe. She recovered on her own after a few days and some time spent on a drip(and about $800 gone out of our bank account LOL)
  12. We don't travel as much as we would if we didn't have our animals. i am hoping that when we build our new house I might be able to find someone who would be willing to come and house sit for us so we can go away a bit more, we live in a popular summer tourism area and often like to go away over christmas/summer so it would work well for someone who was interested(especially since we will be set up in a such away that someone would be able to bring their own animals with them if needed - stay tuned DOLers!)
  13. There are fleas in my house I think it's rather impressive since both the cats and dogs are regularly treated and none of them have fleas but my couch seems to The cat got some a while back after she snuck out and lay on the lawn where the roos chill out and I guess she brought some home as souveniers... So what's the best way to get rid of them? I kept getting these little bites all over my legs and couldn't work out why and now I've realised it's from sitting on the couch I'm going away for four days next week so i had thought I might take the couch cushions out in the garage and spray them with flea bomb and let them air while we aren't here and spray the couch in situ but I guess I probably need to do the carpet as well. I can't just do the 'set and forget' flea bomb because I have fish tanks, etc so I don't want the whole house filling with spray.
  14. Well that's actually quite reasonable(is that Virgin?), i paid a fair bit more than that for Amber to fly from recollection as she was unaccompanied. I've just been looking at the Qantas site and it looks like they are free as long as you stick under your baggage allowance and you only pay if you have more than two pet packs or go over the allowed weight.
  15. Just wondering whether anyone knows if animals can travel as part of your luggage allowance from Perth to the east coast? If not what is likely to be the ballpark cost of flying either two small or one slightly larger crates over(cats but figured the cost would be the same as if they were small dogs in crates)? My husband will be over there and will be flying back and forth to visit us so if possible he could organise accompanied if it makes a difference.
  16. All good, I grew up snow camping with my dad :D We are an outdoors family from waaayyyy back :)
  17. Meh, the wording doesn't bother me that much since it's obviously just a 'dogs beg' play on words. I don't think they need my help but I'm not that stressed out by the use of the lingo they have chosen
  18. Not a chance, I can't buy pants that are long enough or t-shirts that are long enough and all the dresses at the moment that are designed to sit just above the knee barely cover my backside(not a good look if I'm teaching at a primary school!) I basically don't own any nice clothes I've always felt shorties had it better because at least they had the option to take things up, I can't magically make things longer LOL
  19. Nah they just look funny, I;d have to get them tailor made, I'm long in the body and long in the legs so they sit too high on my waist and come down to my thighs LOL
  20. I'm jealous Huski. I keep looking wistfully at vintage styled dresses on ebay, etc but I am quite tall and inevitably when I check the length on me they'd look ridiculous
  21. I'm so hanging to find some plastic pallets but they don't usually give them away.
  22. I'm similiar, i'm a botanist by my original training and a keen hiker/bushwalker but also love my dogs. Obbiously i can't take them with me in to national parks(despite the fact that they are probably less likely to impact on anything that the average overseas tourist) so i have to get them cared for if i want to go hiking in a national park.
  23. Thanks :) Do you know whether you can book the cabins as long as the dogs sleep outside? My girls will quite happily sleep on the porch in their crate or even in the back of the car if needed
  24. Of course, if the dog hasn't been picked up and as long as you give then their money back. you aren't running a layby service!
