  1. As far as treating with oestregen goes we have had very good results on quite a low shorter term dose and no other ill effects.
  2. $350! It's what i'm after but I wasn't prepared to pay that much for it! (Unless it had been in much better condition)
  3. Hmmm, sounds like, as I suspected, she's priced it a bit high. Looks like she has someone else interested in it anyway so i might just let it slide.
  4. I'm looking at this dog run on a sale page at the moment but I'm not sure if it's a good price so I'm curious what others think it would be worth second hand, looks like a few minor dints in it. Apparently approximately 4-5 metres long and 5 foot tall
  5. Lasareina I was like you about 10 years ago. I never got quite this far along in to the idea but i did entertain the idea of not desexing my first dog and breeding her. Like you in the end i had a rethink and ended up getting her desexed. Ten years later I'm now working towards a five year plan that will see me registering as a breeder and down the track breeding and showing bassets. I did change my mind about breeding that first dog after i learnt more but the desire to breed dogs has never really left me, I've just decided to 'do it better' :) If you really do want to breed why not think about it as a future idea. Enjoy your current dogs desexed and down the track if you ever decide to get another dog source it from a registered breeder and show it, get yourself a prefix and move in to breeding as you learn more. Staffies are great little dogs and a well-bred staffy at a show is a sight to behold!
  6. A breeder I visited trained them to toilet on a sheet of fake grass so that by the time they were able to spend more time outdoors and heading off to homes that pretty much knew what to do.
  7. People in town don't tend to get them but we have a lot of bush around us and there are heaps
  8. That third photo almost has a bit of german shepherd around the eyes
  9. My first thought was staffy cross ridgie too so that might be a good option
  10. The video news report is calling it a staffy (am staff going by the photos) so at least they have that part but they are also saying that the staffy chased down the jack? All sounds pretty confused and like the media is just grabbing a few snippits of info and just making up stuff to fill the gaps!
  11. Just to be clear, I don't have a 'preconceived notion' of greyhounds, I have actually been a greyhound owner in the past. Our GAP assessed 'cat safe' greyhound randomly put holes in our cat one day and in the end had to be rehomed back through GAP She was a fantastic dog in every other way, I absolutely adored her so was very sad it didn't work out and I wasn't prepared to risk another.
  12. Sighthounds are more problematic when there are other small fluffies involved. Choosing a pup from the start and early training could help but I could only imagine that as in many breeds for some dogs those inbuilt instincts are hard to turn away from. (for eg. We pretty much trained my basset out of becoming the problem barker her breed is renowned as but I suspect there is some degree of choosing a quiet puppy as opposed to the noisiest one in the litter if you know what i mean)
  13. If it started smoking and then dies it might be seized which will be a lot more than a basic service...
  14. Well in that case maybe it is as simple as a slightly different fat ratio and a larger kibble size. Josephine certainly won't care LOL
  15. The only thing I could see was that rottweiler had marginally less fat but surely that can't be the only difference!
  16. If you don't mind a big lap dog that is happy to just go with the flow I think greyhounds are fabulous. I love danes but I find their relatively short life span a bit hard to get past so I went with large breeds but steered clear of giant(just my personal choice but might not be something you've considered...). Boston terriers are fantastic little dogs too and busy little bodies so would probably enjoy getting in to training with you, they'd make such a cute little agility or flyball dog LOL
  17. Just wondering in what ways it differs from the regular large breed formula? I got given about 25kg of Euk free today as it was a few weeks past the used by and the shop couldn't sell it! It consisted of a 16kg bag of the Rotty formula and a 7kg of weight control plus a 3kg bag of senior. my kelpie is 9 years old and a little heavier than I would prefer so I'll feed her a combo of the two smaller bags which leaves the Rotty one for my basset. Since she is a large breed I figured this would be pretty suitable for her but just wondering if there is any specific differences I should be aware of.
  18. The white is just due to the bones in his diet, i don't worry about it. I used to look after dingoes and their poos look almost completely white since they are primarily fed meaty bones!
  19. I guess I was just thinking along the lines of working out whether it is activity based(she gets up for the day and moving around, etc sets it off) or whether it is food based(she eats and then the bloat starts. If it's the former then as you say the food isn't the issue but if it's the latter then it's worth continuing to experiment with food options.
  20. But does she only start bloating after she is fed? As in if you left her hungry and didn't feed her that morning at all would she still blow up?
  21. Does she bloat even if you don't feed her?
  22. What about if those first three meals were more spread out so they can be digested more before more is stacked on top?
