Nah, there was a recent incident with the dog being very unwell and requiring vet care that prompted her decision, there is honestly no hard feeling from me towards her, just a shame it didn't work out how we hoped. We'll keep our ear to the ground and maybe another opportunity will present itself.

If they are digging can they just lay wire flat on the ground along the fenceline?
-
This was purely based on what she felt the needs of that individual dog were, if she were concerned about us as a home she wouldn't have offered us a puppy. :)
-
It's sad for us but she made the decision based on what she felt the dog needed so I understand that

Just told my son, he's a sad little guy now. He's been talking about this possibility for about 8 months now. Kinda wish I hadn't put the idea in his head back then. I told him we'll find him a doggy to show in the future sometime. She did offer us a pup from her litter who she feels could have a great show career but it's just not in the budget at the moment unfortunately.

Sad news The breeder made a different decision on where to send her. I understand the breeders decision so there are no hard feelings but still a little sad about missing out. Ah well, something will come up somewhere...

If anyone needs transport assistance on the weekend of the 1st/2nd of March let me know. Plan is to leave early from Jervis Bay area on the Saturday and travel to Braidwood and then up to Canberra, travelling home Sunday afternoon direct from Canberra to Jervis bay. We'll be going to a dog show in Braidwood for a few hours so this leg may not be ideal unless it's a very cold day and the dog can stay crated in the car for an hour or so or if someone just wants partial travel to Braidwood or from Braidwood to Canberra

Interesting such a mix of what people like given the concern about posting photos. :) -

Oh gawd, you can tell I'm a sucker for a red, love those ears :) That little black dude at the end looks spunky though :D -
Junior handler, he's nearly ten

Officially I'm supposed to be in Canberra that weekend to see my husband who is only over from Perth for the weekend, probably should see him at some point We might try for Braidwood on the Saturday even if it's just for a look see because I doubt our membership will be sorted by then and then head to Canberra after. It'd be good for Alex to see how it's done :)
-
I've looked on the DogsNSW site and there is a cost listed for single membership and one for junior membership but doesn't say whether you can have the junior without the adult member. Might call them after the 14th

Will do Rebanne. :) The breeder only lives about 30 minutes up the road and comes in to my work sometimes. We took our girls up there a while back and walked all the dogs along the beach so I don't have any concerns about there being issues with the breeder, we've already discussed wanting to show her :)
-
We don't take anything too seriously :) Just got to get through the hoops of being registered, etc. My son is very keen and is already telling me about how he'll need to make sure she is clean, trained, etc, etc. It's very cute :)

She is currently shown in neuter as she got pyo on her first heat and had to be desexed
-
Also if anyone is going to be at shows in this area and would be willing to give us some pointers we'd so appreciate it. All the youtube videos and reading are one thing but it's great to get some real feedback from a supportive showy, especially for a junior.

This is the beauty herself :)

I just got a message asking me to call the breeder tonight that our show dog is coming from. She was staying with the breeder pending her other bitch having her next litter...that litter is now 8 weeks old and now this message has come Cross your fingers everyone! So while I'm here, it is planned that my oldest son will show her, none of us have ever shown personally before but the dog is 4 years old and already trained so she should be an easy intro to showing. There are a couple of shows in the relatively local area in the next few months(Braidwood, Sapphire Coast and Wollongong all within 1 1/2 hours drive). What steps do I need to take to be set up for showing in terms of registration? How do I register a junior handler(do I need to be registered too?) and what is required for us to transfer her to be shown in our name? Also how do I work out which shows have neuter class?

You can get a ping string set up installed at ground level in front of the fence
-
Our dividing fence has a line along the bottom of the fence and a line along the top like bianca. Stops digging and jump attempts very well, a big priority here since we are right on the Princes Hwy

Dog Funeral Photographed By Owners
kelpiecuddles replied to persephone's topic in General Dog Discussion
What a beautiful photo series. When we lost our old cat we buried her and planted a little lime tree over her, I was just looking at that lime tree yesterday thinking that it has suddenly doubled in size. I love that she is still around us making that tree grow so well. :) -
Glad it sounds like it's all worked out for you. We got ours when we picked Josie up from the breeder at 8 weeks so I just assumed that was the norm so I'm glad I read this because I'll know for when we get our next one that we may need to wait a week or two.

Getting A Dog Through Private Rehoming
kelpiecuddles replied to kiwioz's topic in General Dog Discussion
Our next dog is coming from a breeder who I met by coincidence. I work in a pet supply store and she came in to buy dog food and we got chatting and it turned out we both had bassets which is a fairly uncommon breed, she mentioned she had a 4 year old girl she was looking to rehome soon as she had to be desexed(pyometra before her first breeding) and was never able to breed as a result, she does very well as a show dog in neuter though. So we will be taking her this year some time once the breeder is ready(should be soon since it was dependant on her breeding a litter out of her other bitch and she now has eight week old pups!) and my son will show her as his show dog :) -
Getting A Dog Through Private Rehoming

I think it's ok, just be careful that they aren't rehoming because the dog has issues -
Clever Cheddar!
