  1. No different to bringing baby seats with you to make sure they fit in, if you are buying a car for a purpose it makes sense and the sales reps will understand that if they are hoping to make a sale!
  2. It worries me the thought that my ten year old kelpie could suddenly get 'old'. Currently everyone underestimates her age and thinks she's around 4-5 at the most, I notice the imperceptible differences but others don't see her age.
  3. Maybe see if any used car dealers near you have one on the lot
  4. None of this surprises me in the least, I see how often people with less common breeds must get it when I go walking and say hello to them on the street, usually they automatically assume that because I'm one of the few people who've ever actually recognised their dog breed I must own one LOL. Me: Oh gosh, what a gorgeous Brittany/toller/insert other breed. Them: Oh you know the breed, you must have one then? Me: Nope, just know my dog breeds pretty well. LOL Just goes to show how often they must have to explain what their dog is :p That said I've had to argue the point that my dog is a basset not a beagle and have had plenty of people call her a dachshund/sausage/what's that?
  5. Maybe change your title to say - 2009 Mazda 6 - in the second line. Might get peoples attention who have the car but wouldn't have otherwise bothered clicking
  6. Is there a time constraint on the ET? I'm going to start training but working out how fast I need to eventually be going and route that we can safely use to practice around here as there are no footpaths or bike tracks other than concrete ones and I'm not a fan of making my dogs run for a long time on concrete.
  7. What Oakway said, scabies is a type of mange. Why you would accept an expensive dog off a 'breeder' with it is beyond me though! Sounds like just the sort of weird crud that would end up on JJ Sascha was a rescue as a pup(heading for a deep bucket of water!) and had sarcoptic mange. It was easily treated with a good soaking of frontline twice a week until it cleared. Cost me all of about $70 to treat. Wouldn't be happy with a dog from a proper breeder having it though.
  8. At that point I'm not on camera thankfully, they were filming the car approaching and then moved backwards as the 'mob' descended on the car LOL. I suspect we are quite prominent in the scene they were filming as we were right at the front of the mob so they could get Sascha in the shots. Will be interesting to see what comes off the cutting bench! They had four separate cameras running every time they shot, one on each of the balconies on each street corner, the large one in that photo and a steady cam.
  9. I found the photos kept freezing but if I refreshed the page it would start again at the current photo and then I could flick through to the other ones. Was annoying but I got there.
  10. Ticks wouldn't live in the house, we live in a tick area with ticks over the back fence and have never found one inside the house, the closest they get is the front lawn and only after we've had kangaroos lying there! I think a regular flea bomb if you are concerned would be more than adequate. We've lived in quite a few pet friendly rentals and never flea bombed first and never had an issue.
  11. We made the local news :D http://www.illawarramercury.com.au/story/2040201/dramatic-scenes-filmed-for-pig-iron-bob-doco/?cs=300#slide=5 I don't know what was going on when they snapped the pic with me in it, I have a really odd look on my face LOL The bloke next to me kept talking at me and asking me questions and I was trying to be polite to him while also listening to what I was supposed to be doing so maybe I was in the midst of replying to him or something
  12. Out of interest for those who's dogs are very interested in things on the TV are they also very interested in those things in real life? I wonder whether my dogs couldn't care less because they don't care in real life either. If you're happy to snooze in the sunshine while little 3 day old chickens totter around near your face why would you care about them on screen!
  13. My basset has a bit of a smell but it's not a bad one, hound breeds commonly have a certain smell about them. I don't really notice it that much though.
  14. Exactly what Staffyluv said, not a fan myself but if it works for you then it's not a bad thing :) As far as widely available foods(I live regionally and access to most of the 'holistic' brands is only via shipping) that have age/size/breed varieties go I like Royal Canin, found all my animals have done well on it. Currently my dogs eat Blackhawk which I have found to be excellent but they only have a standard puppy and not everyone feels it is suited to larger breed pups. My dogs are full grown so haven't had to worry about this. Enjoy your new bundle of fluff :)
  15. I bought a little pack of training treats from the supermarket yesterday, not something we use often but wanted something good smelling for keeping Sascha on track today, they are Nature's Gift brand and are Australian made and nothing artificial. She loved them too :)
  16. Nope, they decided they were happy with her as she was so I didn't need to worry, which is a bonus 'cos I don't need to bath her tonight now!
  17. here's a pic taken at the start of the day, they had a proper sign for her which she put on a little later that read 'No dog collar for me', a reference to the Dog Collar Act which a copy of was burned as part of the protest. I just got a message from the production company saying they'll send me a good pic or two in the next couple of days so I promise to share :)
  18. I don't have any photos  I've put a request on the production facebook page since so many people took pics whether some could send some through to me :)
  19. We're home and I am SO proud of Sascha, she behaved so well and ended up with her own small scene and lots of close ups in the crowd scenes taken from every angle you could imagine including down her back over the top of her head from her perspective! She had to work off leash for part of it and take direction from me behind the camera which she did perfectly, the director was thrilled and no diva behaviour at all :D A large portion of the day she spent in the midst of a screaming, banner waving protest crowd which she took all in her stride and trotted back in to place for reshoot after reshoot until the production team was happy. I'm pretty sure there are about 50 photos of her taken on peoples private phones on their way to facebook too, she was definitely treated like a star.
  20. It's up to every individual business whether they choose to offer a discount to their regulars, my work has a loyalty card program which entitles holders to a discount, no different really.
  21. Yes :) Basically in summary Mr Menzies wanted to break a strike that started two months earlier when 200 men walked off the job so they did not have to load a ship bound for Japan with pig iron. It was just prior to World War II and they feared it would be used to make bullets. By the time Mr Menzies came to town, the steelworks had temporarily ceased production and thousands of people had been out of work over Christmas. If anyone lives near by Port Kembla and can throw together suitable clothing for tomorrow they are welcoming extras to turn up and protest :)
  22. haha, no! This is what will be filmed tomorrow: Why tomorrow is important - In January 1939 (exactly 75 years ago) Bob Menzies came to Wollongong as Attorney General to sort out the dispute. When he arrived he would have been shocked - there were over 1000 people including women, children and pets with posters everywhere... This is the first recorded time that the term 'Pig Iron Bob' was yelled out. The Pig Iron Bob nickname lasted all of Menzies' lifetime as a reminder of the time when the community of Wollongong stood up for what they believed was right. V proud to be presenting such a story that is Wollongong history. Everyone involved had been out of work at this stage for 8 weeks and people were HUNGRY - so think about this when you turn up tomorrow ... you were NOT happy...
  23. Best I could find at this short notice was a old 'plether' belt at the op shop. Atleast the buckle looks like brass so with a bit of scruffing up from me tonight I think it will pass as old leather. Sascha spent this afternoon walking around looking weird with a cardboard sign tied around her neck to make sure she was used to it for tomorrow. I think she thinks I'm a little crazy LOL
