  1. Got a delivery failure notification for the only email address I could find for Kinkiwi, I'll try the phone number tomorrow and see if I have any luck there.
  2. Ah, would they have been at Cambewarra/Tapitallee maybe? I had heard there was a basset hound breeder out that way many years ago. I might email them on the off chance it is them
  3. I don't know of them Steve, seems to suggest they are currently on the Central Coast, do you know if they used to be down here?
  4. OK, thanks Rainy. I got an email back from Warren(gayle's husband) but I totally confused him and had him thinking it was one of his dogs so I've clarified my email and resent it LOL
  5. LOL, that's pretty much how I find living with a kelpie and a basset Haredown. Bassets aren't considered to be very bright but I'd say she's smarter than she lets on, she just can't be bothered most of the time. She managed to hunt out the bag of fishfood hiding in my bedroom very successfully though!
  6. I've emailed Warstorm Bassets at the basset club and will see if they have any info, if no luck there I'll try the show secretary. By coincidence I realised that Warstorm owns my basset girls sister so it was nice to see her profile :)
  7. Thanks Haredown, I have a phone number for them so will try them tomorrow, Frances from Wellingtess also seemed to think that the Bomaderry Vet may know of them and at least be able to tell me their prefix even though they won't be able to give me any contact info
  8. I'm assisting with the basset hound in the rescue section. He's originally from my area and is not from Wellingtess bassets, if anyone know the prefix or contact details of the other basset hound breeder who used to be in the Bomaderry, Nowra area it would be appreciated. I have googled with no luck.
  9. Sounds like Roco will be heading back down here from whence he came to be assessed by his breeder and probably live out his days with us if all goes well :)
  10. I have advised the OP via PM that in order to rehome his dogs via this page he will need to desex them, which he stated he was happy to organise :) Unfortunately I don't have any beagle links, can anyone assist with the beagle or provide some direction who best to talk to? Just waiting to hear back from the probably breeder of the basset to see what she would like to do with regard to taking him back. It is the same breeder our possible show dog that didn't eventuate was coming from so it's a massive coincidence LOL
  11. He looks so much like her old boy, I'd be amazed if he's not at least very closely related!
  12. Looking at the photo and now knowing he's from local to me I suspect I know the breeder of this dog. If we can get him down to me I'll talk to her further about him and organise to have him desexed if his breeder doesn't want him entire. I have sent her a message to see if he's likely to be one of hers
  13. Thought I'd come back and just extend what I was explaining earlier, got distracted with my kids LOL You mentioned she will growl to tell others off, etc and I wonder whether she has been giving you warning signs and you have misunderstood or underestimated them. I have no doubt that if I didn't make constant assessments about the dogs I allow my kelpie to interact with she could possibly escalate and I wonder whether this MAY be what has happened here. Now that it has escalated I think the best course of actions as others have said is to get an assessment with a behaviourist to determine the best course forward. I also agree that walking might be best done with a muzzle for the time being until you have had a proper assessment.
  14. Just breathe and be sensible about future dog interactions. :) I know my kelpie will get cranky about other dogs 'in her face' when we are out and about, she's not an aggressive dog but she doesn't appreciate the unwanted attention and will make it clear that it's not appreciated. As I don't want to chance it going to a higher level where she may feel she needs to escalate to truly aggressive behaviour I manage any interactions and will place her on lead if other dogs are approaching until I am sure what the other dogs behaviour is like. She plays well with dogs who don't behave rudely to her she just doesn't tolerate rude puppies and adults who haven't been taught to greet other dogs appropriately.
  15. A lot of places have multipurpose facilities. RSPCA in burwood do(or did many years ago) boarding as well as their regular shelter, the boarding was in a separate area to the pound area.
  16. No sign of the OP since yesterday and hasn't replied to my PM, hoping just busy and haven't been back and these babies go to good hands that will ensure they are properly cared for as befits these breeds, hounds need good firm owners who understand that they have strong instincts! And I agree with Powerlegs that they need to be with someone who will desex them if they haven't already been, nothing worse than breeds like bassets getting in to the hands of people with no clue who will just breed for a quick buck without regard for their health.
  17. My dogs have lamb flaps every night as part of their dinner. the only time anything has ever gone wrong was when my basset got a piece of bone that must have been just the right length somehow stuck across the roof of her mouth, I flicked it out with my finger and it was all good. Just use good common sense and you'll be fine, turkey necks are great as an option to help clean teeth :)
  18. also have they had much exposure to(sensible, dog savvy) kids or other dogs and are they desexed
  19. Where are you and could you specify whether there are any barking or other behavioural issues with either of the dogs? I may be able to assist either temporarily or permanently with the basset but only if he's not a big problematic barker as my neighbours don't do barkers. ETA: My current dogs do sometimes wear a citronella collar to keep their barking in check so I can deal with regular barky dog stuff, I'm talking nuisance barking if you know what I mean ;)
  20. I often glimpse my old british shorthair cat in the features of our current one, Amber is the gold tabby version of her silver tabby and it can be kind of disconcerting at times so I know what you mean. I haven't gotten used to it but it does sometimes spur me to go back and peruse old photos of her. It probably doesn't help that she was put down due to an injury quite suddenly so we never had that gradual aging and time to say goodbye.
  21. I desperately want to go to some tracking courses but they are all at least 2-3 hours drive from me We'd love to do Delta as well but same problem...
  22. Thanks Tassie, going to get the jogger pram out for my daughter and start training :)
  23. I am hoping to see if I can get permission to run with her actually, I don't trust her with a bike and there is nowhere safe here to train with a bike either as there are no paths and the roads are very narrow and cars drive too fast along them. 10km/hr is doable for me so at least I know I can keep up the necessary pace.
