  1. Oh and I never supply water straight after dry food, let it settle first. The time my girl was heading that way she got in to stuff she shouldn't have but then also drank heaps of water and that started things off. Now I feed right before bed and don't give water overnight. I figure I don't drink all night when I'm asleep so no different for them. By the morning when they have a drink they've mostly digested their food and there's nothing to cause issues when combined with water.
  2. I just typed the name Mmz KieraLee into the facebook search box and she comes up straight away HazyWal :)
  3. Wow. I did my studies in a different state so that probably explains that, to be honest I'd assumed it was Aus wide but apparently not. What a shame, foxes are such a problem around here.
  4. I'm pretty sure it's actually illegal to keep a fox as they are considered vermin and there is a requirement to euth them, the same as if you catch a carp when fishing you have to kill them and aren't allowed to throw them back even if you are fishing catch and release.
  5. No worries, I have a large frame down the back which will eventually be a greenhouse, it's all meshed in with aviary mesh and sitting there empty at the moment(other than thigh high grass!) and realistically I probably won't have plants in it till spring so it's vacant if needed.
  6. Oh crap Clyde that sucks! If you do manage to get them back and need any help housing them if they need TLC or whatever I'm happy to babysit a few for you.
  7. Oh and to be clear I'm not saying it's right that it happened, it definately shouldn't have. But I work on the theory that any dog I approach may be not very nice until proven otherwise.
  8. I do agree but I do think that people need to at least use their head. Pedestrians have right of way but the number of times I've been half way out of a carpark and someone has popped out from behind another car and walked straight behind my moving vehicle causing me to slam on my brakes is ridiculous(or worse yet allow their children to run ahead right behind a moving car!). yes the law says that they are in the right if I hit them but seriously, who deliberately steps in front of a moving vehicle and just expects everything to work out rosy!
  9. Maybe contact the RSPCA directly and say you are willing to take on as breed rescue. Looks like there are quite a few dogs there so if they take them off her it would be hard for them to place them all in the shelter.
  10. At least he looks healthy SAS which means that hopefully the RSPCA won't find any cause to euth him.
  11. We had a pretty serious bloat scare with Josie a while back, I was getting ready to head to the vet (she was getting quite distressed) when my husband suggested burping her. We put her front feet up on the couch to raise her front end and patted her sides firmly starting at the bottom and working up. She belched massively quite a few times and then was much better. after doing some research I also now keep a packet of De-gas(from the chemist) in the cupboard as a number of sources recommended this as something that may assist with bad gas before it progresses and also slow down the process giving you more time to get to help. We are potentially 30 minutes from a vet if our local isn't available so this is a concern of mine.
  12. Yes that happens a lot around her Mita, makes me think that when I retire I need to get a single colour very generic looking dog so that if it passes away I can quietly add another one and hope no one notices it's a different dog... Maybe just say it was away visiting family for a while or something...
  13. It is correct in the kennel links CavNRott, think that might have been SG's error They sound like a charming lot don't they!
  14. In my current house I'm pro-desexing at a fairly young age simply because the fences aren't all that high and there are dogs around here that are left to roam so i would worry about the security of a bitch in heat. With the plans for the place we will be building soon security is not an issue so I would be in less of a hurry to desex.
  15. I feel the same way about excessively plucking ears it's the same thinking behind not sticking cotton buds, etc in your own ears, although I do think plucking as part of once off/occasional treatment for a damp fungal issue is still worth doing.
  16. Some people I met recently bought a beagle in preference to a basset because the beagle was the largest their village would let them get away with. the ridiculous thing is the basset would have slept all day and spent the rest of it's time leaning on legs for scratches while this beagle is running rings around them...
  17. It's a bit ridiculous actually because some of the best breeds for small house/apartment living are larger ones LOL
  18. Oh and yes breed does matter, in my breed it is acceptable for the feet to turn out slightly.
  19. I would suggest having a chat to your pups breeder and asking whether they feel your pup is worth showing. I would love to show my current girl but I'm resigned to the fact that she just isn't what you would call show material if you know what I mean! Can I also suggest that if you are concerned about your pups feet not being properly aligned you look in to it a bit further, there are dietary deficiencies that can cause this and your pup may be young enough to correct it if it is the case here. Maybe head on over to the health section and post a pic of his legs there and see what people think. If your pup isn't up to it and you are still keen to show maybe talk to your pups breeder and see if she would be willing for you to learn by handling one of her show dogs for her. Apart from that we'd love to see some puppy pics in the intro section :)
  20. Yes, that's all I really mean. I do hope that if it was truly an over-enthusiastic excited dog as opposed to an aggressive one that it is recognised as that. Doesn't take back the pain that the woman has been through but it would be sad for a dog to be deemed dangerous due to a preventable accident.
  21. It's really hard to know where the real story sits with this one I think. Maybe the guy genuinely did need to go and pick his kids up(I have no one else that can do that so I'd be very stressed if something happened right before school pick up time), if the lady waved him off once at the car and said she was OK as the first story suggested maybe he didn't realise how bad it was. If it is him that rang up and said they were his dogs it doesn't sound like he's trying to hide from the issue, seems to suggest he just wants to tell his side of the story and sort things out. If a large dog came at my face very suddenly while running I would have no idea whether it was in play or aggressive and whether it was teeth or toenails.
  22. None of the retirement villages around here allow medium/large breeds. Anything larger than about cocker spaniel size and they start to get antzy
  23. I think that warning people of the nature of the content is only fair. Graphic photos of one kind might not bother you at all whereas those ones obviously did. I'd provide some feedback.
  24. Personally I think you could do with some professional help. I can see you are in NSW, if you are within reasonable proximity to Sydney I'd give Steve a yell.. http://k9pro.com.au/services/#HOME
  25. I don't have any issue with a properly used check chain either but i will say that if you are finding the check chain hard for yourself at the moment with your bodgy knee and shoulder a front attaching harness or halti might be a gentler option for YOU. i have a stuffed shoulder and injured it a number of times using a check chain before I threw it away and switched to something else.
