  1. Oh I hope he's out and safe with someone. Any word from your end Schnauzer?
  2. Are you talking about some sort of donation program that your workplace asks customers to contribute to? To be honest if an establishment I frequented started doing that i'd find somewhere else to buy my pet supplies. But I also refuse to got to Coles when they have those annoying people in the car park who hassle you to buy their car cleaning products. I give my money when I can afford it and to organisations I choose to give it to, i also give a lot of my time, I don't appreciate being railroaded in to donated to causes and having to feel 'guilty' if I refuse.
  3. I wasn't suggesting the cobberdog was at that stage, I was pointing out that they were keeping records and aiming to be recognised. The comment regarding throwing two dogs together was referring to the byb who just throw their pets together in the backyard.
  4. Really you are only talking 3-4 months which isn't very long in the whole scheme of things. If you can easily set up a living area in your garage I think that would be a great compromise for the time being until you can move elsewhere.
  5. Oh I better tell my kelpie that too Jumabaar! She'll be shocked to know she shouldn't have been here for the last ten years... Besides doesn't Katrina Warren who used to do stuff on his show have a border?
  6. I heard that too. Apparently the Oscar's law people were standing nearby at the time with their signs.
  7. The standards are available on the ANKC site. In theory any dog who basically meets that standard would be considered show quality. Of course there are other factors such as training, the dogs temperament and confidence, coat maintenance, general health, etc which go in to then being very competitive as a show animal.
  8. I hope I didn't upset you Dogmad, certainly wasn't my intention. I had to read it a few times before I worked it out. Certainly wish I had thought of that back when my ex next door neighbours dog kept barking at our fence!
  9. Dogmad as I understand it they aren't direct neighbours but a house that is within ear shot and which they have to walk past when out walking. I would just go and chat to them, they sound like proactive owners and would probably be grateful for the info.
  10. Also bare in mind that what a breeder can give you would only be what is called a 'show POTENTIAL' puppy. No breeder can guarantee that even their most promising looking pup will grow up to be a high achieving show dog. Things like testicles not descending and all sorts of things can mean an end to a promising pups show career. Sounds like you are mainly looking for a loving pet and hoping to have some fun showing though so I'm sure that's less of an issue for you. My recommendation is to go to lots of shows and join as many of the facebook groups that dog show people chat on as you can as well as here. Put yourself out there and show you are learning and interested and chances are you'll meet some JRT breeders in these places too. Having a history with people, even if it's mainly online and the odd meet up at a show when possible will stand you in much better stead than someone who no one knows at all, especially as many breeders aren't keen to send their most promising pups off with someone who they don't know at all.
  11. Some groups have their own registry. There's the Bosdog and those who are doing the 'Cobberdog' (Labradoodle). Realistically though cross breeding to create new breeds is still never going to create that mystical lap dog that doesn't need walking ever when it's young. It's a bit like the mystical tree everyone wanted when I was working at a nursery. We used to joke about it, grows only to exactly the height you want, perfectly shaped, flowers all year round and never drops leaves, flowers or twigs. If you take a dog like a poodle who needs a good amount of exercise and stimulation and cross it with another small breed that needs exercise and stimulation you aren't going to magically come up with a quieter breed.
  12. At the very least could you maybe sneak them in and keep them on tiles areas? Ours sleep in the tiled family room and you'd never even know they'd been in the house if I put their beds away and did a quick vacuum.
  13. Could you maybe explain the situation and ask for permission for them to at least sleep in the laundry? Or even the garage
  14. If it's mainly happening when you are dong something like cooking I would be implementing an 'on your bed' rule for when you can't easily supervise. My dogs beds are in a corner between the couch and wall and I have a simple piece of puppy fence across the front, they could easily push the fence over but they know that when the fence is there they must stay on heir beds. They sleep there at night and they are put there during quiet time in the day.
  15. I can't see an aus supplier but this one in the uk says worldwide shipping :) https://canineconcepts.co.uk/en/search?orderby=position&orderway=desc&search_query=bitenot
  16. I agree dogmad. I can't imagine that if dog rescue people refused to take a dog that lashed out and bit anyone who came near it they would be judged poorly. I know a local lady hear who rescues and often takes on ones that others won't and she has a couple of cats living in cat runs that she's had for a very long time and they are basically feral. In my mind that's really no life for a cat, it's just an existence. If you have a cat in the house it gets enrichment from it's interactions with it's family and has the house to run in, kept in a large aviary and without the enrichment of either being in a house or being in the wild where it came from seems so sad to me.
  17. Yes aliwake and the new rav 4 are very similar too. My husband and I had a good laugh one day when we pulled in to a car park at the shops and we had the Peugeot on one side and the rav 4 on the other
  18. Very sad that they aren't giving older kittens and cats much of a chance there Wildthing . I can imagine Pep wouldn't have coped well at all in there given how long it took her to settle here. What a shame they aren't being more helpful to the people who are prepared to put the time in to help their animals!
  19. Interesting Sabbath, like I say all the ones I've met have been very chilled out little dogs, certainly more chilled out than the poodles and the one lagotto that I've met!
  20. Fabulous news Schnauzer :) As I said if there is need of a foster home/temp care or anything for him I'm more than happy to put my hand up. Also i'll be travelling to Vic in about a month and again possibly a month after that so happy to help transport him if needed as I won't have my girls with me that time
  21. Great timing thanks. Totally fixed the crying child that just walked in to the room. :D
  22. My girl recently got a case of 'digger's nose' lie in the photo posted by Sheena. Went down over the course of a couple of weeks and has been gone ever since, hers was quite pink as her muzzle is lighter.
  23. Thanks DM. I presume it was Gayle and Wayne Tape you would have emailed. Hopefully they can help. I spoke to someone who used to be associated with breed rescue for bassets and he said they always had a good list of people who would take on a basset in need, even an older one so fingers crossed there is a good home waiting for this boy!
  24. haha clearly all the ones I met were weird representations of their breed. Never heard a sound out of any of them and one of them i lived mext to for a number of years. Must have been the exceptions of their breed. Thanks for the info :)
  25. Wow i never would have pegged that, the three I met all lives in units with courtyards and were much quieter than my kelpie!
