  1. The OP said due Thursday next week. Personally I feel like slapping the first vet...
  2. I definitely think my basset hound does. Josie's go to move is to lean on your leg and look in to your eyes, the standard states: "Placid, never aggressive or timid. Affectionate." which is her to a tee.
  3. A little piece 1cm by 2cm really shouldn't give a big dog any dramas, i would just keep an eye on him.
  4. I would cross the climbing bridge if you get to it, I've had quite a few dogs over the years and none have ever been climbers. It's more common in some breeds but certainly not guaranteed to be an issue. If climbing becomes an issue I would simply mesh the top of it as a 'roof'
  5. Keep an eye out guys because it looks like PR is doing the rounds on facebook. I had one person deleted already who was plugging them from overseas and now there are a couple more today who aren't locals advertising dogs via PR on our local buy and sells.
  6. I used to work for a horrible vet. He's still in business and I always warn people to stay clear if they are going to that area.
  7. Be a pretty big waste of $5000 if they have no dog to show for it in the morning
  8. Yep vet straight away. Lots of parvo and other nasties around at the moment
  9. Looks like an awesome trip Canetoad! I'm hoping to do the Perth to NSW trip early next year with the dogs and the kids so it's very inspiring reading your thread
  10. Well there you go, maybe they still are, who knows... I don't really understand why else someone in the philipines would be promoting dodgy rescues in Aus
  11. I just had a chat with the admin on our local buy and sell page and convinced her to delete someone promoting PR. After looking at his personal page it turned out he wasn't even in Australia, he was in the Philipines and was a member of some international group that goes around putting rescue links on facebook groups, I couldn't believe that sort of thing even happened!
  12. It think it could have been sexy and classy still with a few more clothes on her personally.
  13. I just messaged my aunt to get the property details and this is the reply she sent :) She also said it's cheaper if you contact her directly rather than through the site, I'm just finding out the best contact method. :) ETA: She said to send a message to the email address on the site rather than trying to book through a booking service.
  14. Would Philip Island be too far? My aunt has a apartment type place they rent out for holidays there, it's a large loft type area with bed, kitchen, etc and very nice, timber floors, etc, close to the beach, it's really lovely. It has it's own fully fenced small yard there for dogs. I know for sure dogs are allowed to sleep downstairs inside as I've stayed there with my dogs(who are big dogs and mostly outdoor dogs so I didn't need to ask about upstairs) but can check if they are allowed upstairs, they have a very much loved golden retriever who is very indoors dog so I'm sure that for the right sort of client they would be OK for indoors.
  15. Personally I'd be keeping him with me, even if that means having him on lead in the house and him just trotting around after you.
  16. There's nothing to correct. It's not a defect as such and is considered a desirable trait in a few breeds.
  17. As others have said, the standards are fit for purpose standards so in theory a dog that is bred to standard should excel at the job it was designed for. Of course there are still vriations and fashions within a lot of breeds so within the standard means different things to different people.
  18. They don't Kirislin :) This is a completely different inheritance to cleft palate. The seperation down the centre of their nose is skin and hair just like the rest of their muzzle. :)
  19. There's an actual breed that has the split nose like that, the Catalburun (Turkish pointer)
  20. The breeder should be able to help you choose a pup that will suit your needs. When I chose my kelpie(who was just a farm bred dog) I chose the one that was quieter but still interested in me, she came up and sat next to me and chilled while her brothers ran around like nutters LOL. When I went to choose my basset the breeder had picked out two that he thought might suit but recommended the one we got. He was right on the money with his recommendation. She's calm but confident which is exactly what you want in a family dog. What breed are you going to look at?
  21. I watch their ribs, if I can't see the last rib they get their food cut back
