  1. Unfortunately only there this weekend Gillbear and I'm staying at a hotel so no one who things can be left with. I wonder if the rescue transport page on facebook would allow me to post a request.
  2. At such a little size training only needs to be for a few minutes at a time. If you have five minutes ask her to sit and put the lead on, take her out the front with some treats and have her walk in the front yard with you and keep her attention on you and treat her when she is walking how you want her to. Walk her back to the house and to wherever you plan to take the lead off her and ask her to sit again and then take the lead off and tell her free so she knows to go play. Sounds simple but will take a bit of work the first few times but if you can do it a few times a day just for five minutes at a time it's a good way to teach a few of the important basics and it takes hardly any time out of your day. Remember to praise her when she is doing what you want her to do. I find my kelpie to be very soft so clear praise and gentle, quiet correction gets the best out of her. Once she is concentrating better add things in to this routine by changing direction and speed, by asking her to sit, drop, stand, etc. Just one or two things at a time over the weeks and she'll get there.
  3. You are welcome to although I don't think the friend function on here actually does anything useful LOL
  4. She's a smart pup and she's trying to run the show. She needs to learn right from the start that on the lead time is time to be sensible and walk nicely and that she needs to follow the rules. She shouldn't need to follow them for very long at that age but they need to be clear for her. Set out as you intend to continue. She's only tiny so just work with her at home in an area seperate to boss. I used to take my kelpie out on the front lawn every evening after dinner and work with her out there. It could be many months before boss is bheaving enough for you to take them both out to obedience at the same time if he's being silly at the moment so you are going to have to dedicate time to training her yourself at home if you can't take her to formal classes. Make that time spent on the front lawn in to your own version of the obedience club class and don't let it be a game.
  5. A thought but are you sure it's the chooks? You don't have wandering jew or anything hiding in a corner of the garden by chance? (Only suggesting because it's popped up at our place quite recently, spread by birds i think)
  6. Personally I'd be taking the opportunity now and walking Scarlett on her own for a couple of weeks and teaching her good walking manners and then introducing her to side by side walking. 7 1/2 weeks is too young to be out walking in the street anyway so walking around the yard, etc
  7. Jus as another thought for the food. My chooks food is up on a birdbath, they don't need a ramp to get to it, they just launch themselves up there :D That way you won't need a ramp, even my teeny bantams get up there just fine :)
  8. Internally both garlic and turmeric can be good dietary additives to help with skin and fungal issues
  9. Can anyone get any of Gillbears beds down to northern Sydney over the weekend? I'll be at Chatswood
  10. Well anything can be got to me before the 7th can be dropped at Jugiong :) Have stayed at the showground there so that's an easy done! I am in Sydney on Saturday/Sunday overnight if anyone can get anything to me at Chatswood then. I have a fairly big car
  11. Alyosha is located in NSW ;) Absolutely stunning dog, was watching the pharoah hound at that show I met you at Alyosha and they are amazing looking dogs!
  12. Dominance I think, my kelpie does it all the time
  13. I am coming up to Sydney this weekend staying at Chatswood on Saturday and then in 3 weeks will be travelling South if that helps anyone get coats where needed. We'll be going down the Hume Hwy on Thursday 5th June staying in Mordialloc, Melbourne on Thursday night and then travelling on to East gipplsand(Mt Baw Baw) Happy to meet people along the Hume during the day on Thursday to hand over items if it helps
  14. I would simply be apologising and explaining what you plan to do in th short term to contain the dog while accessing your property and what your long term plans are to ensure safe access. I would also say that you would like to invite him to come and have a look once you have installed your extra fencing as you would like him t have peace of mind that you are taking this very seriously. The rest is up to him.
  15. Maybe approach it that you totally feel that what happened wasn't acceptable and discuss with him that you would like to show him that you are serious about ensuring it can't and install a safety lock gate at your property (second gate with enough space in between for you to stop the car while you close the first gate).
  16. And if that's the case the breeder of these two dogs might also wish to know too
  17. Okaaayyy, two people said they didn't know they came in a certain colour, you told them to start a new thread and a couple of people confirmed they did in fact come in that colour. I'm really not sure how that conversation involved that but anywho...
  18. Hav I missed something? White is an accepted colour for staffords if that is what you mean?
  19. Thanks, they look like they are doing well! I was contemplating painting them black so it sounds like that might just increase their durability that little bit more too :)
  20. My dogs don't have water overnight from about 11pm until 7am. (Because one of my dogs is at risk of bloat so they get fed late and don't get water until the morning to allow her time to digest)
  21. Just wondering whether anyone here is using these outdoors and how durable you have found them to the elements? I relaise in theory they should be good given they are designed for compost heaps but I'm always a tad sceptical unless I've got personal feedback after a bad experience in the past with fencing wire that has rusted away after 18 months!
  22. Very few people where I live take their dogs to training because the closest one is at night a 1 hour+ round trip in to town Anything that gets people training is a good thing here.
  23. Maybe this might hold people over until we get some new home photos :) http://www.petrescue.com.au/listings/256806
  24. Best of luck with your new babies. :) Of course you are aware that it is compulsory that all new puppy announcements must be accompanied by photos :D
