Vet Shocked At Me Giving My Dogs Vegies
joannakathleen replied to sugar's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I've got a chihuahua that loves chewing on my leftover corn cob for a while, picking out all the bits of corn ive missed. Luckily, i dont have to worry about her swallowing it, she couldn't fit it all in her mouth if she tried! She also chews on apple core sometimes. I've had a few ppl tell me this is bad, but she seems to like it, and it doesnt make her sick, and its not very often anyway. She loves eating little bits of whatever I eat, and none of it has hurt her at all. When i have vegemite on toast i give her a corner- she loves licking off the vegemite, then leaving the soggy bit of bread :D -

Why don't u think its right katek? Maddy is quite a submissive dog, I've never had any problems with the "pack order" in my house, she's been quite easy to train. She doesn't show any signs of being bossy or domination. She just loves affection. -
I have a gorgeous little chi girl who loves to sleep in my bed with me at nighttime. She goes to sleep at the foot of my bed but often by morning she is sharing my pillow. Of course I love cuddling her, she's better than any teddybear, and she is such a cutie, she loves snuggling into the blankets. Anyway, my mum says its really unhygenic to sleep with a dog, and I was just wondering if this is true? Can I get sick having a dog sleeping near my face? I'm a healthy 21yr old with no allergies or anything. I don't let her lick my face. She is a mostly indoors dog, and I bath her weekly, and she get regular worm/flea treatment. Should I stop letting her in my bed?

Looking For A Cute Dog Tag
joannakathleen replied to caesar's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I got one on ebay, its really cute, like Krat's. GOM, where did you get the photo id tag from? -
Thanks Mana!! I've been cleaning it using various cleaners, then dabbing vinegar over the spot- as i have heard that vinegar will get rid of any attractive smell. I'm not too worried about that though because she doesn't tend to keep going back to the same wrong spot to pee, she just seems to pee anywhere whenever she feels like it. She'll go in the laundry when I take her there, usually, but I'm frustrated because she won't find her own way there when she needs to go at unexpected times. But she definitely does know her way from anywhere in the house to the laundry, cos she goes there to have drinks all the time, halfway through playing and stuff. I dont get it?

I have a 13 week old chihuhua pup that im trying to teach to go on newspaper in the laundry. I've had her for four weeks now, but I'd say she's still only goes in the right place 60% of the time. She is my first ever puppy, so I know that its most likely my fault she hasn't learned properly yet. But I have read all the posts on here about toilet training and done my best to follow all the advice. In fact I've read not only all the advice here, but on a million other dog training sites too. Whenever she goes on the newspaper she gets lots of praise and whenever she goes on the carpet I have either picked her up and taken her to the newspaper, or ignored her and just cleaned it up. I take her to the laundry after meals and sleeps and plays. It can be a bit frustrating reading about all the people who get their dogs trained in a few days. I've been doing my best but she just doesn't seem to be learning as fast as I'd like. But like some of you have been saying, I guess it just varies with each dog, and each owner! I'll keep doing my best and hopefully she'll learn eventually, before all my carpet is ruined

Puppy School In Sutherland Shire?
joannakathleen replied to joannakathleen's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Thanks everyone for your advice - I think I'll go along and watch a class or two at Sutherland before I think about putting my dog there! In the meantime I'm going to ring Sylvania this afternoon and try to get Madison (my gorgeous little chihuahua x poodle) into a puppy course there. -
