  1. Sending positive thoughts and prayers for little Sweep, and his Mum too. Trish
  2. My greyhound, who suffers from pancreatitus, prefers Royal Canin L/F Digestive canned and dry food to the Hills I/D food, you have to get it through your Vet, so maybe you could try that and see if she finds it more palatable. good luck, Trish
  3. Good luck, I will be thinking of you, I know just what you are dealing with. Trish
  4. I also have to give a thumbs up for Matthew, he is gentle, caring and good at what he does. Trish
  5. My whippet went through something similar to your boy, it was just if friends were here, they were people she had known all her life, but she wouldn't go to them for pats or treats. When I went looking for her I found her in my bedroom as far away from the doorway that she could go, shaking etc. Not long after these episodes we discovered that she had gone deaf. I think that during the process of losing her hearing she may have been having distorted hearing which made her very nervous when other people were here and there was more noise than normal. She was about 11 at the time, this behaviour stopped after a few weeks, when she was completely deaf. She then reverted to her old self with her usual "excessive greeting disorder' when they arrived at the door. It was distressing to see such a friendly confident dog reduced to a shivering mess, thankfully it was all over quite quickly. Trish
  6. We're going back tomorrow too........ Trish and Skye
  7. We saw Dr Condon yesterday and was very impressed, he was gentle and caring with my girl, who he said was remarkable for 14 years old. He also said that she had responded very well to the treatment so we see him again in a weeks time. I am so glad I took her, whippets are stoic little dogs, but I could just see slight indications that all was not right with her. So thanks for the information, Trish and Skye
  8. Thinking of you, with crossed fingers................. Trish
  9. I feed Eagle Pack senior to my two senior whippets, and they do well on it. Trish
  10. We see him on Friday, so fingers crossed he can help my girl. Thanks, Trish
  11. Thanks for that, I checked the website, he sounds just want I need. Trish
  12. I need a gentle, caring and good chiropractor for my 14 year old whippet. There was a thread on here ages ago about a vet who is also a chiro, does anyone have the name of this practice, or can you recommend someone. I am south of Adelaide, but will travel anywhere for the right person. Thanks, Trish
  13. My rescue greyhound, who is now nearly 10 years old, had an attack about a year ago, her diet had not changed, I believe it was from stress, as my husband who she adored was terminally ill in hospital. My vet put her on Hills science diet I/D food, but recently I have changed her to Royal Canin L/F Digestive cans and dry food. I also give her some veggies every now and then, and some cooked rice just to give her a bit of a change. She has had no further attacks, but had a dental a few months ago, and had bloods done before the surgery, and her amylase levels were a bit higher than they should have been. I am just very careful that she gets nothing but her special diet, and low fat biscuits and lamb crispy bits (as treats). Good luck with your dog, Trish
  14. I'm so glad she is home with you. I hope she keeps improving, and you are able to discover just what caused her illness. Trish
  15. Sending positive vibes for a good report and fast recovery, I do hope she is able to come home soon, they are such little homebodies aren't they? Trish
  16. Trish I feed her the Digestive / low fat biscuits. They are 5% fat. Cost about $22 for a bag (smaller bag). I mainly feed her the low fat digestive tin food though which is only 1.8% fat. The tins cost about $2.60 for 375mls. I'm lucky she is only small though cause the bag of biscuits last ages. She goes through about 3-4 tins a week. Cheers Kris Thanks, I will try some of them for a change, you're lucky shes little, it costs $35 a week to feed Ebony the I/D diet....... Trish I sympathise for you. I really do. She has already cost me a couple of grand in vet bills, at least i have her feeding bills on my side!! Just as well we love them Trish

  18. Lizzy, can I ask which Royal Canin dry food you are feeding ? Trish
  19. Thanks for the suggestions, I will try introducing some chicken breasts etc to give Ebony a more interesting diet, I will do it very gradually though, because the last thing I want is to see her in pain again. The I/D diet costs $35 a week to feed, so I guess chicken breasts won't make much difference. My 3 whippets eat chicken mince which I cook and take the fat off, so I may get game and try her with a little of that too. Just as well I love her............. Trish
  20. My greyhound who has had a pancreatitus attack is on Hills Prescription I/D diet, and she can have low fat biscuits, (3% fat), she is getting bored with this diet though. I am investigating a similar food that is made by Royal Canin to give her a change. I do give her a small amount of vitamised raw veggies with her food daily. Trish
  21. Is it helping your dogs ? I have been using Joint Guard too, and would like to try Glyde, but I'm hoping for some feedback before I make the change. Thanks, Trish
  22. I saw it on Value Vet Products for $74.28 (not including shipping), but I have never dealt with them, so I don't know what they are like. I am also interested in trying Glyde for my 13 year old whippet, I have been using Joint guard, which has helped her to a degree. Trish
  23. One of my clipping clients gets this occasionally, and the vet has put it down to an infection of the salivary gland. It looks to be in a similar place. Hugs to your whippy. Trish
