Tips For Introducing A Dog To A New Baby!
Trishm replied to ~Aimee~'s topic in General Dog Discussion
Another thing my daughter and her hubby did while Mum and Bub were still in hospital was for Dad to bring home the babys washing and let the dog smell it. They had absolutely no problems, and now have their second daughter. The dog, a lab, is just beautiful with them, but of course they are very careful, and they made sure that the dog never missed out on his daily walks, the baby just went along too. -
I, too am a CDL..........if ever someone in my neighbourhood finds a stray dog, they always come knocking at my door to see if I might know who owns it, or if I will keep it and try to find the owner. The kids always call me the 'dog lady'...........a bit better than the CDL I guess. Trish

Hoping for some good news this morning...........hang in there you beautiful old boy. -
Surely help with food and bedding will mean that there will be more money left to help with the desexing. Have you been involved with them, trying to help etc jdavis?

Robbi what about contacting the makers of Great Barko and Uncle Albers dog food. It is the Laucke Mills, they may be happy to help out with some donations of food, as they are a South Australian company. www.lauckemills.com.au Trish

I have some bedding that could go to Moorook, so I could get that to Rachel (Ravyk). Will also get some food together, and I will ask my Vet if perhaps we could a collection box in her surgery, she does collect stuff for the AWL, so I don't know if she would agree or not. Trish

I havent heard of him, but have used the eye specialist at that referral centre. What does he specialise in ? I hope you get good news. Trish

My heart aches for you, what a wonderful long life he had, you must have some wonderful memories. How great for him that he was home and you were with him, he knew he was loved to the last moment. Trish

. Re the old dog question, I was wondering whether that memory foam was any good since one of mine is also getting older. Deals Direct has had some relatively cheap versions. Anyone know? Di I have purchased the large memory foam bed from DD. They are out of stock at the moment, so I have ordered another one as my greyhound loves it, and the whippets will use it while the warm weather is here. As soon as it gets cold they like to snuggle in their Cosy cave bed or the other 'snugglier' beds. It seems to be fairly good quality for the price and the cover has a zip, so it can be removed for washing. There are multiple beds for my dogs, trampoline beds strategically placed around the yard, a divan in the spa area, and more beds in the bedroom and living area, in fact I have come to the conclusion that I live in their kennel...............we also share the leather recliners.............

Hydrotherapy Or Swimming Pool....adelaide
Trishm replied to Trishm's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Thanks for that information Ness, it sounds exactly what I need. Thats the second time you have helped...............eg Matthew Condon. Trish -
Does anyone know if there is a hydrotherapy or swimming pool for dogs in Adelaide. I live south of the city so south would be great, but I will travel anywhere. My 14 year old whippet has sore shoulders and has some muscle wastage, and my Vet thinks some swimming would be good for her. TIA, Trish

I took the 3 whippies for a walk last night in the cool, it was a lovely evening here, it was only a reasonably short one, because my old girl can't walk for too long, but the younger one could walk for hours, so I need to be doing 3 different walks, 1 with Skye, another with Flynn and Jazz, and then another with my greyhound, but it all takes so long, and it is so difficult to take one without the others. I have to sneak around collecting leads so the others don't hear............the joys of it all. ;)

edited to say I got the quote thingys wrong.......

I think Chuckie means the ones that you put in the power points inside your house, not the outside zappers.

Could I have a copy also, thankyou. [email protected]

Tyra, do you not add any veggies, or is that covered by the VAN ? Trish

Received my book today, it is great, just what I was looking for, thanks. Trish

My whippets love other whippets, although Flynn loves to run with any dog that will chase him, but only bigger ones, no little fellas. He and my greyhound play a lot together, they are great mates, the girls are a bit too old for all that frivolity.

My dogs were pleased to get out yesterday for a walk after all that horrible heat. I walked my old girl for 10 minutes around the block, that was all she could cope with, then took the greyhound out for her 20 in amble, and then later on took the other 2 whippets out for their longer walk. It was lovely after the rain we had the day before. Trish

Too hot here, 43deg for the next 2 days too, mine hate the heat and so do I, we're all in the aircon............41 today.......
-
I',m a bit slack this time of the year, it is so hot , so it is walking either early in the morning or later in the evening, and by then I am usually pooped and don't want to go out. My greyhound, who is 10, is happy with a little trot around the block, and 2 of my whippies are 14 and 12, so they don't really enjoy long walks when it is so warm, even my boy who is 6 gets lazy in the heat..............they just laze around in the aircon, but I do feel guilty because they do love to get out and have a sniff etc. So I will join you as I need to lose weight too................ Thanks for the link, I too have ordered a set. Trish -
My greyhound suffers from pancreatitus, and I feed her Royal Canin low fat digestive food, both canned and dry. I have also used the Hills I/D, but she prefers the RC. I also give her cooked veggies, cooked rice or pasta occasionally, low fat cottage cheese, low fat yoghurt and boiled chicken breast and for a treat some really lean steak, not too much though as some proteins can affect them too. I cook some treats but also give her some Bonio type treats which are about 3% fat. She seems to be able to tolerate things which are below 6% fat, such as Tuckertime roll. Good luck, it is a problem that you have to be vigilant about all the time. I have friends, who when they visit, bring my whippets treats, and I have to quickly grab a suitable treat for Ebony from the pantry for them to give her, as the things they give the whippies could upset her.
