  1. Feel free to vent Kirty, if you can't vent on here where on earth could you vent? I admire your patience. I'm glad he is OK, sending
  2. Is she back with you or with her owners ? Sorry I'm nosy....................
  3. Her eye colour is just amazing......................I hope she goes well in her testing tomorrow............fingers crossed.
  4. Thanks for your kind thoughts, my husband died 2 1/2 years ago, we're doing OK. I was interested to read that you are feeding her presoaked oats, did your Vet recommend that, maybe Ebony would like some for a change. I'm glad that Banshee is much better.
  5. I bought mine on ebay from Marpet treats, great service,it was here in 2 days. They are pretty hard, so I have been putting mine behind blankets against the back of the lounge that she sleeps on, that way Skye does not have to lay on it, but she lays against it and feels the warmth. She has always slept with me, but I have been trying to discourage it, because although I have steps for her to get up on the bed, she will not use them to get down. She is heading for 15 and I worry about her jumping off the bed. I think we are both sleeping better too... They are amazing the way that they stay warm for so long, I heat mine up in the morning and at night, it does stay warm for 12 hours. Great product, and safe if the oldies become incontinent too. Trish
  6. They are amazing aren't they? I had a hip replacement 18 months ago, and I was concerned about coming home to be by myself with 3 whippets and a greyhound to cope with. They were incredible, they were so gentle around me, I was supposed to use my walking stick all the time in the house for a couple of weeks, but I didn't need it, my greyhound Ebony would walk slowly alongside me, and I would just rest my hand on her, she would stop when I stopped, even going up and down steps she would be by my side. My other fear was that they would leap on my hip while I was in bed, but no, they developed really good bed manners and jumped onto the bed from the other side. They are just so intuitive and sensitive. Good luck with your knee, and give your clever pups a pat from me............ I guess you are ejoying the physio :D Trish
  7. My rescue greyhound Ebony developed pancreatitus when my husband was in hospital terminally ill, I believe it was the stress caused by this that brought on her attack, (they adored one another), as she had never had a diet high in fat while she had been with us. My Vet (also a friend) kept her at the surgery for about 2 weeks, , ( I was at the hospital all the time, so could not care for her properly),she was on fluids etc and then she introduced food very gradually, she came home on Hills I/D dry and canned food, and after about 12 months I changed her to Royal Canin Low Fat Digestive food. She has never had another attack, I am very vigilant though, just one piece of cheese or similar could cause another attack. She is able to tolerate a little cooked pasta or rice and some cooked veggies, and Lucky dog mini biscuits are only 3% fat, so they are Ok for her. I hope that little Banshee will respond well to a low fat diet and will be happy with you for many years, she deserves the good life that you are giving her now. Good luck, Trish
  8. That exactly right, Ebony collects all sorts of funny things and puts them in one of her beds.....gosh Bosely must have been bored out of her brain in kennels and now she is having so much fun, its so good to see her enjoying her new life so much.
  9. ohh those baby photos are tooo cute........Good luck with the assessment, but I bet she is thinking that she would love to stay with you and the whippies.
  10. Where can we see the dogs he has picked.................
  11. She is just toooooo cute.................
  12. BUT if she stays with you she won't need to learn to ask, cos' you've got a doggy door........ :D Sorry Linda...... ;)
  13. As you know I got Ebony straight from the pound, but I found no problems with house training her, I actually never had to 'train' her , she just automatically went outside down the steps to the lawn to eliminate. If Bosley was kept in kennels and let out for a run a couple of times a day, she may be used to 'holding on' until she was let out. good luck, she is just beautiful...................
  14. Awwwwwwwwwwwww, she is lovely, what do the whippies think of her..............?? they may fall in love with her and she may HAVE to stay.................... Or YOU may fall in love with her after putting lots of work and effort into her............... Trish
  15. Just wondering if you were sending any to the AWL here in Adelaide, I heard them appealing for help the other day. I have sent some blankets etc to them, but I guess they need coats too. I just drove past the RSPCA kennels at Lonsdale and it looks so cold in there............brrr poor babes. Your coats look gorgeous, well done.
  16. I heard on talkback radio yesterday that Herbie, the bomb detection dog who was killed will have to be cremated before being brought home due to our quarantine regulations. This led me to wonder about the fate of the other dogs over there, what will happen to them when our troops return, will they have to be pts? They do incredible work and save so many lives............. will this be their fate?
  17. Thanks for the warning, I have sent a message to friends who sometimes go there.
  18. Hills I/D food, or Royal Canin Low Digestive dry food, but they are prescription foods, so you would need to get them from your Vet.
  19. I would make a guess that the digging is a sign of pain.
  20. She's very cute congratulations.
  21. On the other thread someone mentioned that they bought theirs from Qld for $45, I have sent a pm to see if I could find out exactly where, but haven't heard back yet. $10 postage seems to be the price from most of the online places.
