  1. My dalmatian Jake seems to malt constantly as well and has the same fine and short hairs that stick to everything I find the best thing is to give him a really good brush when I am bathing him with a rubber curry comb (I have horses, but I also have a similar one that is a proper dog brush) as it gets a lot of his coat out and then when he is dry brush him with a soft brush which will get all the loose hairs off too. Another way of doing this without bathing the dog is to get a rubber curry comb or rubber glove etc. and a wet face washer. Run the wet face washer over the area you are going to brush and then run the rubber comb or clove over that area and keep repeating the process. In the horse world it is called dressing I learn't it from a race horse trainer years ago but it is really effective in getting that dead hair out of the coat Anne

  12. I think you are doing a great job with Chelsea Jenny She is a beautiful girl and certainly liked the gurgle toy Watch out people if Simone brings Dodge next week. Jake will have no interest in the girls he is in love with Dodge! Yes I think that he may well be that way inclined but he is a dalmatian after all Actually Jake loves all dogs doesn't matter their size or their sex Mmmm Stella I don't know if i can come up with ONLY 2 problems. One will definately be focus and keeping Jake's attention, maybe the other one could be Murray???? Nah only joking will think of another one, though when I have Jake's focus he is very good, just got to keep it. Mmmm we'll work on a problem during the week Anne
  13. Great news about a baby on the way Now you just have to wait 11 months for him or her to appear Jake and I were a bit off last night, sorry guys. We did ok in the end though, don't know what's wrong with me, just tired i guess. Can hardly keep my eyes open this morning... Where's the coffee We will be back on top form next week Thanks for another great training session Stella, sometimes you learn more when dog and handler aren't really working too well, at least that is what I am telling myself today :bottom: Anne
  14. Thanks for the info Karen I am really wanting to do it so now I will just have to go through the application process and see if I get accepted into the course. Anne

  17. Hi guys, I am really interested in applying to do the Dog trainer accreditation though NDTF and was wondering if anyone had done this course and if they could pass on any information and advise. I have had a keen interest in dogs all my life and love to be around them and work with them. I currently have two dogs of my own, a beagle cross and a dalmatian. I currently attend ADT Berwick with Murray (Beagle cross) and am doing the Sout Eastern training school sessions with Jake (Dalmatian) and would love to learn more about training and also eventually look at a career change if i was good enough I have sent an enquiry to NDTF but would love to hear people's thoughts on the course and any advise they could give me. I haven't had any training experience before apart from with my own dogs. Thanks Anne
  18. I love warmbloods :D great for cross country, dressage and show jumping and nice and big. My boy Spish as I like to call him is 10. He has had issues and wasn't gelded until he was nearly 5 (Was gelded just before I got him) but I love him to bits Keeping fingers crossed for a bun in the oven for your girl But you are taking all the fun out of it for Mr gorgeous up the road I think Skye is just too refined for normal dog speak for your hot, maybe Banjie should bring her some flowers and sing her a love song BTW Jake and Banjie together would be sooo funny as they are both so full of energy Anne
  19. Aww Hedds a baby What breed is your mare? I have an arab cross gelding and love him to bits Jake would really miss Banjie if you guys couldn't make it even if Banjie is only interested in Princess Skye Anne
  20. I am sure that Skye is much to dignified to even look twice as such a xrazy dog as Jake Anne
  21. Just giving a big bump as training is tomorrow night Has everyone been practicing at home??? Anne
  22. Awww Caz I am sooo sorry to hear that littly Minty is not well. I hope see recovers quickly. Sending lots of love and healing to both of you Anne
  23. Yes Jake does like much younger girls. I think that I am going to have to watch him very carefully and tell him that she is much to young for him I could really see Jake and Banjie having a really good play and between the two of them coming up with some naughty practical jokes for their mum and for Sky to notice Banjie YB - You did great a natural instructor for dogs and people :p Anne
  24. Jake and I also had a great time. By the end of the session I felt like Jake had made really great progress. He was great and I am so proud of him because he hasn't been in a class training environment for ages and other dogs is a big thing for him, he just loves them YB - Your training technuques are great. I got a huge amount out of last nights session and all your tips make sense and as we can see from the progress in our own dogs already and master Connor being such a darling and a great credit to you, I have hope that Jake and I can reach that level some day :p I would love to do agility with Jake as he is pretty enthusiastic about life in general and gets really excited and loves jumping over the jumps and going over the A frame etc. He has been introduced to all the agility equipment before and loves it :p. We are on the waiting list for an agility club to start in the new year so the training that we are getting now is going to be great for that :p I don't quite know how I am going to get Jake to play dead but we'll will figure it out. It might take Jake a little while longer to get the idea cos he loves to know what is going on around him and his attention span isn't very long at the moment, but he is getting better all the time and we live a challenge Can't wait until next week!!! I am soooo excited :( Jenny - Chelsea is a gorgeous girl, and you are doing great with her Simone - Show off with Toby, if Jake was like Toby... Hedds - Banjo is such a gorgeous boy and soooo talented. I want Jake to be like him ;) Dogdayz - Skye is such a beautiful girl and sooo smart :D You've done a great job with her and I can't wait to see more of her tricks And Wendy is such a gorgeous little girl she's as cute as a button and smart too We'll see you next week Sam ;) Anne
