She's getting things she likes too... not all necessarily great for her but really, at her age, she deserves to be spoilt. (And I don't mean things that are dangerous.)
-
Blinky is bossing someone around now... I can hear them. She looks much brighter today. Maybe it was just a passing 'thing'. Still sleeping lots more than usual and hasn't been on a 'garden stroll' (aka accompanying the poo patrol) for over a week.

Bonnie Dog Food-new Pack = New Ingredience
Rozzie replied to yorkpark's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Gee they could always come and see us.... just have to follow our nice car down the road and the roos come out in their trillions. -
Blinky had a feed of fillet steak and prawns (and a bit of help from some tablets from the vet for entree) She ate most of her dinner last night too. Fingers crossed she keeps it up. She is still quite active, in her stiff legged way, despite the lack of food recently.
-
Thanks for all your thoughts and ideas. I will ring the vet about prednisone when they open this morning. She is still following us around and doing all but eat. Handfeeding her little bits often. Poor Lucy is terribly confused (apart from the confusion when you are 17) and tries to get Blinky to play their old lady game, but Blink just can't be bothered. I know how lucky we have been with the other oldies.

She's 16. Has that old dog 'thin in the hips' look but has been like that since she came here a year ago. It hasn't been terribly hot and she is sleeping in a cool part of the house (tiled floor) on her bed. She is still drinking.
-
It looks like another of our oldies will be saying goodbye to us soon. She has started to go off her food. Whereas before she would finish the dishful, now a couple of mouthfuls does her. She is still getting around, toiletting, etc. She is sleeping lots and just wanting to be petted. Since the others have passed in their sleep, what do I do with her? I know that sometimes we have to make the decision for them, but I don't know if I'll know with her.... sound confused? I am. Terrible as it is, I go to bed hoping that she has one final long sleep.

Oh and grooming is a rather generous description... lol

Where Do You Wash Your Dogs?
Rozzie replied to Divine Angel's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Could only choose one but I wash in a number of places depending on the size of the dog. -
Oster, Wahl, Andis. Is there much difference between the quality? Are the blades interchangeable?
-
One speed? Two speed?? AAAAGGGHHHH
-
Basic, won't have a fit getting through matted messes. What recommendations? How many blades needed? Thanks

It looks as though we make that final trip sooner than anticipated... or hoped for. Sofia is deteriorating and stays on her bean bag except for meals and toilet. No more goofy running or grey cuddles. Her new collar and lead set for Xmas, she will get early for that last car ride.
-
Sounds exactly the same... we thought arthritis when she started to go lame. Then wooshka... huge lump and no hope. Her really badly affected bones are like honeycomb from what I saw on the xrays.

Yesterday, our eleven year old greyhound was diagnosed with aggressive bone cancer. No treatment options, she has been given a month tops. As you can imagine we are absolutely devastated by this news. We have her at home with high dosage cortisone to help with swelling, thereby removing some of the discomfort. She is still happy in herself, still does her Peter Garrett impersonation when she runs. I know we will know when her time has come. I guess I want to say... Please check ALL lumps carefully and get them assessed if you are worried. It's not going to save Sofia since hers progressed from naught to huge in a matter of days. Sorry if I don't make sense,

Excuse ignorance... what are Cheerios?
-
$180 per dog per year for vaccinations is terribly expensive.

I get whatever plain yoghurt is on special. The fosters are a bit dubious first couple of times then they hook into it like the others.

Yes LB when she is distracted she stops. She doesn't bite herself, just scratch scratch with the legs.
