Sorry Lenni... RnB we kept Sofia with us an extra two days so she could have Christmas and get her handmade leather collar and lead.... she wore it once.

Mine have some of LBs fluffy jumpers and a couple of "school" jumpers my mum mad... you know, practical, not pretty. Big dogs have oilskins and the greys are having a coat each made for them by a lovely lady who has the market stall next to ours. Tshirts and Hawaiian shirts for summer.

I just wanted to say thankyou for the kind words about my boy. He was not the pick of the litter, but the puppy who picked me. He had a few conformation faults but that never mattered, he had a wonderful temperament and was a loyal friend. It is still hard to come to terms with the fact he is no longer here. I find myself still preparing his dinner and watching for him at the gate when I come home... He is buried on the hill in the paddock with his blankie and his favourite squeaky toy that he pinched off some puppies we were fostering a while back. I miss him.

He was killed doing what he did best... protecting his family... by a brown snake. He is resting on his hill where he can herd the sheep forever. I can't believe he is gone... my last Shepherd.

Hi birni I lost my Shepherd girl a few years ago to Lymphoma. The vet gave her six months at the most. We had her for a month after the disgnosis. It was a shock diagnosis as she had been so well. then all of a sudden a couple of smallish lumps appeared in several glands. It is a horrible disease. We counted our blessings for each day she woke 'OK'.

We desex our puppies early. When they go off to new homes in other towns, how do you know the new owners will desex them? Our pups are dropped at vet in morning and picked up in the afternoon. They recover a heck of a lot more quickly than the older dogs. It would be insane for us to rehome entire pups here... the mindset being a litter is good or 'fixed' dogs won't work (which is just so much crap).

Little Zoe passed away at 8am this morning. She died in my arms. Rest in peace little funny face. Zoe was a dear little oldie. She will be missed greatly.

Sofia was diagnosed, put on meds and PTS two weeks later. Selfish of us but we wanted her to have Xmas. Cancer had spread to her lungs. Her last day she managed to run to the gate. Amputation was discussed, as was chemo, when the cancer was diagnosed. Prognosis was not good. Meds chosen. When the light went out in her eyes we knew it was time.

In Sydney I used the same vet for years. Until the day I took our old bedraggled rescue Shepherd in for treatment for mites. Vet looked at him and said "why'd you bother". Clipped the lead on and walked out. Never went back.

I want to know where all the dirt dug out of the holes actually goes, when it comes time to fill the hole back in I can't find it.
