  1. He is just the most gorgeous little fellow, how lucky were you to get him, I did follow the other thread, he is very lucky to have such a great "new" Mum who loves him dearly.
  2. I knew a dog who had hurt his back lost the use of his hind quarters, these people who went to my vet, so xrays were done and my vet gave them three options, PTS, this was out of the question at the time, have expensive surgery or the third option was to do accupuncture, they opted for third, our vet is also a registered accupuncturist, so they did this for six weeks, he had to be confined, they borrowed my lidded puppy pen, only to be let out with a sling under the belly attached to a lead for toileting. Well after the six weeks this dog was up and walking around albeit slow to start with, he was only two years old, slowly but surely he gained 100% of his muscle tone, had bi weekly checkups with the vet for the first three months, then went on to live a full active life until he was about ten years old. He damaged his back by jumping and bouncing off of the fence at the dog next door, never got that opportunity again.
  3. five beautiful babies. Great photo of a very proud Mother.
  4. Pugs and Frenchies would be at the all breed clubs shows.
  5. Bless Nanna Gem, she brought so much love along with her and you and yours gave it back in bucket fulls. She looks such a beautiful old girl, but now Nanna Gem fly with the to the there are plenty of our dear dogs waiting for you to come and play. What a treasure she was for you Pretty Miss Emma, just shows what love can do, gave this dear precious soul so much more time than any one would have thought.
  6. I feed chicken necks about once or twice a week, but I do not give them to my dogs whole, I chop them up with a pair of garden shears specifically used for just cutting through the bone into bite size pieces, this prevents them from choking on them, I have heard of quite a few cases of Frenchies choking to death if fed a whole one. Mine are fed a raw diet of human consumption meat, cranberries, veg and the kibble they have is grain free Wellness.
  7. Many years ago I had an eight week old puppy fracture her hind leg, yes the growth plate, it was minimal, so the vet splinted the leg and I had to go back two weeks later for another xray, it was not showing any inclination of healing at this stage so my vet suggested to stabilise the area to get a good result was for Macey to have a pin put in, so we had that done and she was great but as she got older, she lived until 11 years, she did get arthritis in that leg but not enough to stop her getting around and enjoying life.
  8. Yes I feed scrambled egg to the young puppy that I have at the moment, with the adults they get eggs in the meatloaf that I make.
  9. When I have a litter of puppies at weaning time they go straight onto a raw diet, starting off with top grade mince, then by six weeks old they are getting raw lamb heart, kidneys , raw or cooked chicken, I do not use chicken mince, chicken hearts, liver and giblets, cooked lamb tongue, this is basically put into cold water and brought to the boil that is it, they also get scrambled eggs three times a week, at seven weeks they get chicken necks that I cut into small pieces then smash them up, never feed a chicken neck whole they can choke on them, I also use Wellness puppy kibble, I have a fourteen week old puppy here now and the above is what she is fed and the kibble is not soaked, no need for puppy milk at your dogs age, I stop giving milk at eight weeks, up until then I do not give puppy milk, they have Goats milk.
  10. We have an Italian Greyhound, another dog that I would say NO way for the situation you describe, our girl is a great watch dog and sadly if she is outside and the neighbour happens to be near the fence she really goes off at him and we have to bring her inside, or if she hears another dog barking she has a bark too, she has been like this since a puppy and she will be nine years old in April, secondly, they are a sight hound and you could never let them off their leash in a dog park, you would never catch it, they run like the wind, both my husband and I are elderly, but she goes walking, ON Leash, for about an hour every morning first thing, then sleeps away the day if she is inside, if she is outside she is on guard all the time, even the poor birds who come to our bird bath out the front get a telling off, thankfully we have a secure fence and gate that she cannot get through.
  11. Juice saw the Staghound litter that you were going to get a puppy from advertised in the Adelaide Advertiser today. Of course Zelda needs to be looked after, top priority, hopefully when that is sorted you will find another perfect puppy. Hope that Zelda's problem is on the way to being fixed.
  12. The dog first on the second row of the attached by Asal is the way that I remember the GSD when I first started showing in the late 1960's, the GSDs of today do not have the strength in the hind quarters of that dog and they also have a slopey back. I am very friendly with an all breeds judge, at one show I met up with him and we were watching the judging of the GSD's and he was disturbed at what he saw and said that he would not put any of them up, we had, he still does, Pem Corgis, yes I showed in the working group for years and know what I saw go up in the groups and more often than not we were battling to win against the beautiful majestic GSD, I did own one myself when I was younger, that would have been in the 1950's.
  13. Well the best of breed in the GSD at Crufts last year caused a furor, it was a bitch that was so sloped in the back it's hind quarters seemed to have no strength in them, so she would have not been able to do the job that the GSD was bred for, herding, the old type could have worked all day, the show GSDs of today upset me to see what they have done to them as they would not be strong enough in the hindquarters to work for even a half an hour, I remember the beautiful GSDs of yesteryear they were such majestic strong looking dogs, something to be admired. After the bitch won BOB at Crufts, there was an outcry as to her conformation, the KC decided to look into what they are doing with the breeding programmes and I believe it is an ongoing thing in the UK, they had hundreds of text and emails from a concerned general public.
  14. That is terrific, it would have made his Dad's day, just to have a faithful companion will help make his Dad recover quickly. I know what a dog can do for an older person, my husband, 84 next month, had a beautiful present given to him last week from a dear friend of mine in NSW, a three month old very placid pied Frenchie, they are inseparable, so fully understand the love that Bart is showing and so pleased to see his new friend home again.
  15. Fantastic news , just what I was hoping for and expecting, to top it off he became theirs, it is dream situation for both Bart and his beautiful owners.
  16. Fingers crossed for Tuesday, hope he will get his green collar, by the looks of things this beautiful handsome boy will get it with flying colours.
  17. First of all I have to say thank you for rescuing this precious boy, you are the sort of person that I like and respect. As mentioned above it could be one of the two things, either his throat is too sore after surgery and secondly maybe more likely, he was debarked because of living in an apartment the so called owner did not want any barking to disturb, draw attention too that there were so many dogs living together. What happened to those dogs is a breeders nightmare to think that their hard work has ended up like this, thank heavens they are all now adopted, you will hopefully have years of fun with this very special little man. Sorry but I did not get a photo of your Max.
  18. I cannot get the photo of the puppy, but at between 8 and twelve weeks puppies start to teeth and that can take a couple of months, then every thing can be back to how they should be, that can play up with the ears, happens with Frenchies quite often, if I could see the photo I could give a better opinion.
  19. Thank you Starkehre, it could have not come at a more opportune time your post about what you had found out and wanted to alert people to the problem. I know that breeds have problems, that is why I test all my breeding stock before using to make sure that I have sound stock to sell later on and if anything, such as this dreadful disease in your beloved breed, I too would want to know, fortunately we have the tools to check things out now, not the hit and miss it used to be when I first got into the pedigree world at the end of the 1960's. Once again a big thank you for your post for us to be aware and my son now armed with the knowledge of this newest affliction, we will pray that all will go well for him on his venture into getting his new baby or two. If he lets me know that he was not happy I will certainly tell him to contact you as I followed the growing up of your last litter, they were magic.
  20. My son lost his two beloved Rotties within three weeks, December/January, to cancer, Maya was nine and Jackson seven. He has now decided he cannot live without a Rottie in his life and is going to see a breeder in Vic. flying down from Sydney, I told him to take a look at this thread and ask this breeder about the testing he has done and to mention this dreadful affliction. He has looked and taken notes from the OP so he is now forewarned and equipped with the questions he will ask, hoping all will be well for him and his future baby.
  21. It has been my pleasure Juice, just so glad that you have found your puppy, well now a puppy, as I saw that you were looking for perhaps an older one, it will be great to be able to watch the baby grow. Of course we need pictures.
  22. Juice it depends on the weight of the puppy + crate, the two Frenchie babies would have only weighed, the two of them together, about 5kg, With what Jet pets have quoted I would go with them. We have to use Virgin as Qantas do not freight Bracchy breeds, or they didn't, may have changed their policy, but you could not go wrong by using Jet pets they are a very caring puppy freight people to deal with. If they live close to the airport I am sure that they would be happy to take the puppy to the freight section whichever airline they use. Best of luck with your new baby.
  23. Totally agree with the above replies, the OP was looking for the German Shepherd type that we admired years and years ago, your dogs look very slopey in the back, the old fashioned type that they are looking for were straight backed and could work all day long if need be.
