I do not vaccinate puppies until eight weeks of age, and it is a course of 3 shots 8, 12, 16 weeks, my puppies do not go to their new homes until they are 10 weeks plus. Six weeks is far far too young.

Thankyou K9 for posting this beautiful story of dear old Pippin, have thought about him from time to time, they say a boy and his dog, this time it was a dog with his favourite boy, he knew that he was so loved allbeit a few short months, but at least he went to the knowing that he was very much loved and appreciated and obviously picked his special person to spend his final moments with. Run free Pippin you were truly loved.

I have heard from an animal behaviourist, if a dog/cat soils anywhere inside, to use the laundry powder Bio-Zet as it has enzymes in it that takes away the smell, most other things the dogs good smelling apparatus can still whiff straight through it. Can I also give you a warning re puppies climbing, in fact a dog of any age and this is from experience, it happened awhile ago, but a puppy that I had was a fair devil for climbing, this particular day she fell from the table (outside one) and she tore the growth plate in her right knee, it took two operations one to put the pins in, 7 weeks of penning, and the second op to take the pins out all up not much change from $1000. So I think that it is imperative that you teach her not to climb up on anything, and if you can not be watching her all the time, I never let a puppy the run of the house, in your case one room, I would be crating her, or get like what I have a solid pen with a top on it, I got it from C-crates, and that is where she stays until you have time. Also, outside as soon as she wakes up from a nap, not allowed back until she has done her business, and the same routine as soon as she has eaten. Hope that this helps.

:D So sorry to hear that Tim has passed on, I too lost a very dear old lady, Mia, on the 2nd of Feb. she was 11 1/2 years old, and as with your girl things were getting too much for her, it is so hard to come to grips and we do miss our fur kids, Timothy is an angel on your shoulder now, she will be with you forever. Tim take your wings and I know that my Mia will look after you at the rainbow bridge. Two angels together.

Oh Fifi how sad. she was so young. When our fur kids get old we sought of try and prepare for the day that they need to have their wings, but with one so young it is very hard to come to grips with, and being so sudden. Beautiful Sox you now have your golden wings and have flown away with the angels, leaving behind a very devasted human and fur family. Watch over them all. Run with the wind Sox and say hi to all of the Doler loved ones up their at the

I'm with you noisymina, they are too good for the dogs. Just love a plate of crumbed brains. Indi, I think that your girl will be wondering what Mum is doing when preparing chicken necks hearts kidneys and liver, which she will love to eat and more to the point good for her, with you standing there blindfolded gloves up to the elbow, cutting up her tea.
-
I am with you noisymina, but you forgot about the hearts and stomach lining (tripe) By the way they are very good in a dogs diet as well for something different, my kids are having lamb hearts for dinner tonight and it is like a treat for them, it is uncooked, they have them every Thursday. Indi you will get used to handling these types of things, just think they are so good for your girl. Won't mention brains don't feed them as the dogs get the irrates with them

Hi, I see that you are giving her Biolac, that may upset her tummy, is it after this that she has the "runs" so to speak, I would give her Lactose free milk, can be bought at the supermarket, it is for humans. Some dogs are lactose intolerant, and it can cause them to throw up etc. I give my puppies for supper, a couple of tablespoons of Yoghurt with abc the one I use also has bush honey in it, which makes it more palatable, if you cannot get this just add a teaspoon of honey. The Yoghurt has good bacteria puts a lining on the stomach, and honey is a great antiseptic, so the two combine have a soothing effect on the intestines. Her diet seems really balance for a five month old, and no she is not too young to have chicken necks, RAW, no COOKED bones, but for a puppy, I usually get the chicken shears out and cut the necks into bite size pieces, the bones are a good source of calcium. You have had some very good advice on this forum, hope something that we have all suggested will help Indi

Help! Not Defecating *very Worried*
Mjosa replied to DogsLover's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
My old girl Mia who went to the bridge last Thursday, when she was 10 she suffered a blockage of the bowel, and had to have a bowel clean out as it was so bad, nasty, my vet recommend Phsylium husks mixed in her food, this kept her going really well, she never missed. You get these from the Health food shop. Yes Yoghurt is good as well, my dogs get it every night, not for bowel problems though, they get the yoghurt which has bush honey in it and it has ABC in it as well. :D Yoghurt has good bacteria for the lining of the stomach, and honey is a good antiseptic. good for putting on cuts as well. -
:p :p Sorry to hear of your loss Rozzie, I know how you are feeling right now having lost my precious old girl Mia, Thursday just gone, it leaves a big gaping hole in our lives, and nothing in this world will ever replace them, because they were their own special people, with their own special ways and we just have to remember how they made our lives so worth living. Im Almost Ready To Let Go..
Mjosa replied to Joey Rocks My World's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
:D I know exactly how you are feeling right now, as my Mia was on the "bridge" thread, here for one short day, I had to make that terrible decision on Thursday 2/2, For about a week I was fretting trying to get my head around trying to call my vet to come and do the deed, and when I looked at her on Thursday morning, the way she looked at me I knew that she was ready to go. With tears in my eyes and a breaking heart I rang, it was so peaceful for her in the end, one minute she was breathing and then she just went to sleep, it was so gentle. My vet is a wonderful caring man as is his wife who is also a vet, they are so gentle, and I am dreading the post next week as they always send you a little memoriam for your dog/animal. There clinic motto is "We care because they are family" If you are interested they are at Aberfoyle Park, and go under the name of Hub Vet clinic, I can give you more details if you want. Be strong for your girl, it is hard I know, but she depends on you to make the decision for her, and you like me would not want her to suffer, and my vet gives you the option to keep her home or cremation as well. My prayers are with you and Jenna ;) -
Nokoma Jolie Mirielle MIA 31/10/1994-2/2/2006 :p Your call name, Mia, meant mine and that is what you were for over 11 precious years. You came home with me at Christmas 1994, it was one of the best times because you were in my life. Over those 11+ years we had so many good times the memories of my spunky little girl will be with me forever. You have left a wonderful legacy, with the beautiful babies that you gave to me, one of your kids lived through the twin towers disaster, and now you have two Grandchildren in the USA one a champion and the other almost, also Gr grandchildren in the USA, arrived last Sunday, and three weeks ago you became a granny in the UK, what a wonderful thing they will carry on your name. Who is going to keep the furry kids here in line now that you have gone, you did that very well, they all knew exactly what the pecking order was as you saw to that. I have not told your Daddy that you have your wings, as he left Tuesday to go to visit family in Ireland, I think he knew that you may not be here when he got back, and you knew that you were his favorite and he gave you an extra big hug before he left, you would not want me to spoil his holiday, this I know. Our special girl, you now have your wings, so fly fly to the and meet up with all the other Frenchies from Mjosa. Love you to bits sweetheart, and thankyou for everything :D :D

Oh what a sad but beautiful story about a little dog that lit up the lives of your family. I am sure that both your Dad and the little fellow are having the time of their lives up there, and they both would be keeping a very good eye on you, to make sure that you are safe.

R.I.P. little Budgie, fly free and safe.

I know how unbearable it is to loose a beautiful baby, such joy when they first come into your life and unfortunately we think it will last forever, sadly it doesn't, so hard, I find for all the little anniversaries that come along in the first year, then you start to remember all the good times shared, sprinkled with tears, and then a gentle smile, and glad that they were a part of our lives. She was a beautiful girl. Hugs to you all from Mjosa
