Was the ear up when you got her? Three months is a bit early for teething, that usually starts at around 4 months, do as I said in my first post, when you have her on your lap, which no doubt you do, put a finger in a position that has the ear upright, and with your other hand gently massage at the base, this does help to strengthen the muscle, the only other way is to tape it up, this is done by placing a "popstick" on the oraface, not down near the ear canal, and tape it up to hold in position, check at the end of a week. If the ear has never been up, which is very unusual for a Frenchie, I have not had this problem in the 25 years that I have had them, but have had large heavier ears in some pups and with the massaging they eventually come up, I only ever taped up Pembroke Corgi ears and that was back in the 1970's I have at the moment four Frenchies, although I am a breeder I only breed very very occassionally, maybe a litter every 12-24 months.

Hi first let me welcome you to the wonderful facinating world of the Frenchie. I have had them for 25 years now and would not have it any other way. Firstly, how old is your puppy? There are two reasons why the ear is down, and that depends on the age. If only about eight weeks old, the muscle is still developing and if it is going up and down, it will eventually stay up with a little massaging behind the ear and flicking the ear in a standup position. Some Frenchies have bigger heavier ears than others and this can cause this problem, but once the muscle is strengthened with the massaging it will go up Secondly, if the puppy is around four months of age, their ears can do strange things when they are teething, if the ear has been up before it will go back up again. If you want to know anything about the Frenchie I would be happy for you to PM me and I will try and help with any questions you may have. Be sure in this hot weather though to keep the puppy cool

Shareen, I am so pleased to hear that your baby is now OK, it was such a shame that you had a bit of a rough start with the precious little thing, but it can only go forward now for the both of you. Just make sure that your pup has all vaccinations, as I am sure that it has not had any yet, did you get a Vaccination card with the pup? If not start the vacs regime now, as at this time of the year Parvo can be rampant, and it is a terrible thing to see a puppy suffer with that as with any dog, C5 is a good coverage for everything. Best of luck and please stay with the forum, we are here to help. and the advice given in the first place was for the good of your baby and you.
