  1. You should email or phone K9Pro in regard to the canvas crates, I have the wire crates which my dogs sleep in at night with covers on, but they are much heavier than the canvas crates which I use when taking them to shows or away for the weekend. Also the wire crates could damage the interior of your car whereas the canvas ones are car friendly.
  2. I bought about five years ago from K9+ a beautiful canvas crate, I think that it would be ideal for your dog, it is dark if you keep the roll up windows down, has a zip front door that can be left open and for travel folds flat. These crates are made from super strong canvas. K9+ are here on DOL
  3. thank you for the update, he is just one cute baby boy. :)
  4. If he was mine I would be taking him to the vet, that would be very painful and maybe the vet could give you something to put on to heal quickly. Poor baby.
  5. Are you a registered breeder or a member of DogsQld? I have a bull breed and there seem to be so many of my breed being bred, there are 35 litters here on Dogz, this was unheard of a few years back.
  6. What a magic little lady, she was well worth waiting for.
  7. All of the girls that I have ever bred from only have to be put on their backs a couple of times, then from there they just roll on their backs and seem to say come and get it the babies oblige
  8. No it is not just exclusive to Rotties. I do exactly the same once my puppies are two weeks old so as you can monitor the puppies, my biggest fear if fed from the side are the puppies who insist to go "under", so to prevent aspiration having the bitch lay on her back and feeding like this is the safest way to do it. I have Frenchies and have used this method for about 30 years.
  9. Secret is the name for her, suits her and I am not overly fond of Inky. :)
  10. I am not an expert on Staffies, but the picture taken of him by you, that ear that you say is pricked is what a Staffie ear looks like, they do not have their ears tipped right over as in the picture taken by the breeder. In an adult the ear looks like a "rose" just like that "pricked" ear, just hope the other one goes the same way. :)
  11. No Ellz it is not silly to think that Wade and Woger sent you this beautiful red boy, he is just gorgeous. :)
  12. Nothing nicer than photos of children and dogs even more so when the two subjects are together. :) :)
  13. Our daughter's girl Indi lives indoors, yes it is a home but she does have access to outside whenever she wants it, the training has been done by her husband and started from the day she came home at eight weeks of age, you would have to be prepared to do the hard yards in training her and take her to obedience. When she comes here and is inside is no more trouble than my two little Frenchies. Will there be someone home for most of the day? if not then I would not even contemplate any dog as they do need company, completely different to an independent cat.
  14. Wow what a hard choice. My daughter and husband have had a Viszla in their home for 12 years and would not consider any other breed, their first girl Zhani was put to sleep last year, she had cancer and it broke their heart when she went as she was their third "child" she could almost speak to you, loved the outdoors and going on rabbit hunting, swimming in the Murray on their yearly holiday, they said that they would not get another, but within about four months they brought home their second girl Indi, this girl is so attached to them and already obeys commands, that started when she was about three months old, she went out to obedience for the first time a couple of weekends ago and graduated to grade one on her first outing, have not heard how she went last week. Their eldest son and his partner have a male GSP, Roy is a beautiful boy, but I just think the Vislza has it over the GSP. a
  15. My stainless steel bowls must be ten to fifteen years old, of course now minus the rubber rings.
  16. I use stainless steel dog bowls for my crew, they have a rubber ring around the bottom to stop the bowl from slipping away. The reason for stainless steel? well when cleaning the bowls I can pour boiling water into them and I know then that there will not be any nasties hanging around in scratched plastic, would not use plastic for a puppy, more hygenic. They do not cost the earth and can be purchased at a reasonable cost, about $7, from Woolworths Coles or the cheap $2 shops. Best of luck with your new puppy, how exciting and welcome to DOL
  17. Just say Staffordshire Bull Terrier, people in the know know the difference from American. When you do get your second puppy, down the track, I hope that at least one of the dogs will be desexed if not both. Also when you are ready, do not bother with puppies for sale on here, go to the breeder listings here, see you are in SA, go through the listing and contact the breeders listed here in SA and contact them and have a chat and maybe put your name down with the one that you feel comfortable with. I have friends who breed the Stafford and show them on a regular basis, but they rarely have a litter.
  18. Sasha's blend is good for arthritis, I have looked after a dog almost crippled with it, his vet advised owner to use Sasha's blend, took about a month to notice the improvement, he was on it until the day he passed away at the age of 15 years and never had any signs of problems. My son has a rescue Rotti, has had her for about four years, she was crippled with joint pain, told him about the blend, Maya has been on it for three years now and doing well.
  19. Off Topic CBL They are amazing,my sweet girl is starting to get a grey face and her deep red is starting to fade, but she is still young at heart, yes the 12th of April they will be eight. I just adore Tosca. as does my great grand daughter. The Frenchies are sweet natured and would not harm a flea but it is the noise they make when they get excited that is off putting to a three year old, that is what I was getting at, maybe the dog the OP Mother has is bouncy and his daughter is not so much scared of dogs but wary of them. This has been my experience with my great grand daughter.
  20. My great grand daughter who is three has always been a bit timid with the Frenchies as when they get excited, I think to her, they sound like they are not aproachable, different story with my eight year old Italian Greyhound, Tosca is quiet and usually is an ornament on the couch, Ivy has always loved her and whenever she comes over for a visit the first thing she asks for is where is Tosca, the two of them are either on the couch or just walking around the garden, just lovely to see, so Frenchies are put in their crates when she is over for a visit.
  21. Totally agree Roova with what you have said, but bear in mind because of the popularity of the Frenchie there are so many people coming into the breeding of them and I would say that most of them would not be doing the testing that long term breeders do or have any knowledge of how to read a pedigree and know the history of the dogs in the pedigrees. I have had this beautiful breed for almost 33 years and I am aghast at the prices that I have seen being asked for puppies on DOL, I do not ask anywhere near the amounts I have seen, it is ridiculous, as I only breed, if I am lucky every couple of years I have plenty of time to do my homework on the future Sire. So so sorry to hear about that poor Frenchie.
  22. Would be interesting to know these Bulldogs for $1800 if their parents have had all the relevant health tests that is required by top breeders and controlling bodies, well at least here we do all the tests, there are xrays to be done of breeding stock and now DNA tests used as well for hereditary health issues. Cheap is not always good.
  23. French Bulldogs even in NZ cost a minimum of $4000 and the OP thought that $3500 was a lot, I know that British in NZ and here from a good breeder is also at least $4000+. I make it a rule that when I do have a litter of Frenchies, on a very rare occasion, I do not sell to families who have children under 12 and there must be someone home for most of the day. The reason about the age of a child is that under that age a lot of children want to run and play all day and a Frenchie will do it too to their own detriment because of their flat faces and breathing apparatus is not the same, very short faced breeds must not be over exercised. I think a Staffie would be more in the price range and a more robust breed.
  24. :birthday: To that beautiful man Benny, how lucky was he to have found such a wonderful family to treasure him. Beautiful photos of his progress, he looks amazing now
