If this is a pedigree dog then the rules of the ANKC states that a puppy has to be the minimum age of 8 weeks before they are allowed to leave the breeder, giving time for that first vaccination to be OK. The puppy would only be just weaned off of the Mother at this stage. None of the puppies I breed leave my home until 12 weeks of age when I know they will be able to cope with the change of circumstance and also they have had two vaccinations and microchipped. BTW I do not do first immunisations of puppies until 8 weeks and at the same time they have their spines xrayed, I like to wait until that age before xrays are done.

With the winter weather and being in Vic. I would be buying a crate, not the plastic ones, and leave him in that with toys to play with, being away for only five hours a couple times a week this would work better than being left in the backyard exposed to the elements, better that he is in a warm safe place, the pen outside is good for the warmer weather.

Such love and devotion from both sides (eventually after two years), when your heart dog goes to the bridge they take a big bit of us with them. Fly precious boy to the and big to you at this sad time.

A Dog For All Those Who Hate Being Told To Get Out Of Bed!
Mjosa replied to persephone's topic in General Dog Discussion
 How great is that, loved it when the dog pulled the blanket back over the boy. -
That was a brilliant interview, I was intrigued about a particular breed of dog that could go up on the mountains and know when to bring sheep back home, just brilliant

Yes I use it and so does my daughter with her Viszla, it is grain free full of great ingredients, I have a young dog here who is allergic to grain and since being on this she is doing so well. If you email them they will send you out a sample of a couple of their flavours, also if you order through them for your first bag, mine was delivered free and a certain percentage off of it, cannot remember the percentage now as it was some time ago, I used the samples, a letter comes with it, and my dogs loved it. Good price too.

Breeder Policies On Puppy Deposits, Partial Payments, Etc
Mjosa replied to HELLBOY's topic in General Dog Discussion
Well as I do not breed many litters I have never asked for a deposit, I have been breeding since 1970 and had no problems placing puppies with having to resort to advertising, this is for Pembroke Corgis and the breed I have today , I have not heard of people that I know personally with my breed and others, NEVER take deposits, my puppy buyers pay in full on the day of collection, so if people have been taking deposits since when you have said it is news to me, even with my imports I never had to pay a deposit and any others that I have bought here I have not had to pay until the day the puppy has been picked up, or for the imports the day that all their vet checks have been done and cleared that is when I pay that vet bill and two weeks before departure from the country of export I pay in full the cost of the dog and their airfares. So sorry I have not had the experience of paying a deposit. -
Breeder Policies On Puppy Deposits, Partial Payments, Etc
Mjosa replied to HELLBOY's topic in General Dog Discussion
In over forty years of breeding I have never asked for a deposit, because for the reasons you mentioned anything can happen to change a person's situation, as I see it there would always be someone that I approve of who will step in when puppies are available. This taking deposits is something that has come about in the past ten years. -

Pug..elongated Palate And Nasal Surgery
Mjosa replied to Trishm's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Hi, The vet clinic that I go to is The Hub vet clinic at Aberfoyle Park. Husband and wife team, I have been going to them since they opened their practice over 15 years ago. The wife does all the surgery. No they are not specialists but damned good vets. -
Pug..elongated Palate And Nasal Surgery
Mjosa replied to Trishm's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Only nasal surgery, but my vet does the elongated palate operation as well. -
My son's family also have a small white fluffy, Maggie, she was the first dog on the property, she is big as nothing weighing in at about no more than 2-3kg and she has no problems with the two Rotties, when I have visited she just lays in the sun with them, they get on really well with each other and I know that they have never had an altercation between them, she would be dead in one bite if that was ever to happen, but these Rotties have been taught to respect her, must add even their exotic cat is in the mix as well. Speaking as I have found these two get on with small dogs, cats and the horses that live on the property.

A beautiful well bred Rottweiler. I have a son who lives on property in NSW and his wife agists horses, they have two beautiful Rotties who both roam and laze around the five acres, but their bark is that lovely deep bark that would definitely keep any strangers away, they get on with the horses as a matter of fact they just ignore them. When night falls they come in for their dinner and then spend the rest of the night at their feet watching TV or sound asleep. My son does have quite a few trips overseas for business during the year but is happy in the knowledge that the two Rotties are there for protection. If you considered this breed be sure you get it from a reputable breeder, the Rottweiler club in your state would put you in the right direction.

From a reputable breeder who does all the health checks to make sure that they are breeding with the best that there is to offer, you will find that the prices are not what you see here on DOL. Reputable breeders do not have to advertise as their puppies are always pre sold most times before they are even a twinkle in the stud dog's eyes. I have had this beautiful breed, the Frenchie, since 1982 and I can tell you that the dogs that I have bred only ever see the vet for their yearly vet check, most of them live to 12 years of age and I have some that have lived until almost 15, so there are good ones around you only need to know who to contact. I have become so depressed with the amount of litters that are being advertised here on DOL and the prices some of them have put on their puppies shows that it is not for the good of the breed but for alternative reasons. Wish they would stop using the Frenchie in all the advertising that you see.

Have you given your bitch something different in her diet? whatever she eats of course goes into the milk. Personally I would be taking the babies and a sample of the diarrhea to the vet in the morning, they can test the sample and then can give you the necessary cure for this event. Have you got any plain yoghurt? if so rub some on their gums, yoghurt puts good bacteria into the gut. Best of luck.

"accidentally" He is just gorgeous, is his main friend an Italian Greyhound? would love the warmth from that beautiful coat of Preston.

Rest easy beautiful Madison at the Sarasmum it is just so hard to lose a heart dog that means the world to you and just so quickly take it easy and remember the wonderful times spent together, i lost my heart dog five years ago next month and I still grieve for him, then I think of all the wonderful times we had together and the funny little games he would play and I smile again for I know he would not want me to be sad. to you and your family.

Fly to the Roxy fox, I am sure that they will let you in as I believe it is a place for all of God's creatures. No more pain sweet girl.

I just googled Patterdale Terriers and came across a web site owned by Geoff Hook, lovely site to look at, he is advertising that he is expecting to have puppies Oct-Nov 2016, so if you are wanting a puppy I would be getting in contact with him through his web site.

Do Your Dogs Get Sick Often? Hemagiosarcoma On The Heart
Mjosa replied to SarasMum's topic in General Dog Discussion
Oh I am so sorry to hear this news, I have had this happen to a few of my dogs over the years and it has broken my heart too, I send all the very best too you and give that gorgeous girl a hug from us and enjoy the time that you have left. -
Good advice TSD
-
So glad that you have got this sorted with the vet as well. The advice that I gave is exactly what all of the vets over all of those years had given me, mind you we did not have the regime of vaccinations like we have today, used to be only one back in the early days. Best of luck with your new fur baby and may you have many many happy years together.
-
This puppy is fully vaccinated and as I said in my last post leave her on your property for another week and from then on she is good to go for walks. This has been my regime since starting to breed way back in 1979 and the advice I give my new puppy buyers and we have not in all those years had a problem.
-
Yes but if she has just had her last vaccination today, I would not be tempted to take her off of your property for another week.

He is absolutely gorgeous, thank Dog he has you to look after him.
