Looking For Pembroke Welsh Corgi Breeders
Mjosa replied to Jess_lee's topic in General Dog Discussion
I used to show and breed Pembroke Corgis many years ago and even then there was this lady in Victoria who bred the most beautiful dogs, she is still breeding them and she is listed on the breeders listing here on DOL, look for the kennel name Dygae. -
In answer to your question, it is not unusual to see only one dog of a breed entered, more likely it is a rare breed, other times it could be a judge factor that does not attract entries. If the judge on the day deems that the specimen, the only one entered, is a good representative of the breed they will be awarded with their challenge certificate with six points, five for the show plus one for the dog itself. When i first started showing Frenchies back in 1983 I was the only person in my state with them and I titled the ones that I showed, this went on for about nine years before another person started showing a dog that I sold them. BTW even being the only entry for the breed I did win group and in show classes with them, which proved that they were a good representative of the breed, it is harder to win against the standard, they have to be good, than sometimes competitors.

to Jeff at his first show, congratulations, he is just cuteness overload.

I never put anything in the crate when sending puppies except their blanket, most airlines do not even allow water containers in the crate for such a short flight, putting toys in the crate, yes they are in the crate for at least five hours, as it presents a choking situation should they chew a bit off. I put all paper work in an envelope and attach to the top of the crate with the breeder's name and phone number. Inquire with the breeder if they are hiring the crate or including it in the over all price, always handy to have the crate for transport to the vet, btw I would be taking your puppy to the vet within 48 hours for a vet check, I always tell my purchasers to do that.

Beautiful story beautiful dog and such a happy ending, the rescuers deserved that happy ending with the effort that they put into the rescue. :)
-
What beautiful puppies they are, of course I think the Dingo is an amazing looking creature anyway, with them being x'd makes them even more interesting.
-
Alpha bet, totally agree with what you have said, with over 40 years of breeding I have only ever had two litters in close proximity, total of nine puppies, was a lot of hard work, I do not go out to work, when it was all over I vowed and declared I would never do that again, this was back in 1998, I have never done that since.

I see on puppy listings here on DOL solid coloured puppies advertised also a black and tan puppy, of course not all of them are in your state but some are.

Sasha's blend is excellent, if you look up there web site they have a video that shows you how it heals and mends, takes a month or two to see the difference. My son who lives in Sydney has a rescue Rottie and she became severely lame, I suggested Sasha's to him as I used to look after a Frenchie who had arthritic problems and became lame and his owner's vet suggested for them to use it, this boy was as good as gold and lived without pain until he was nearly 15. They have a permanent order with a pet supply store.

Thanks Mita, squirrel away all you like :)

:) You would be welcome Mita, these are the protocols that I have followed for most of my life breeding dogs, since 1969, I always aim for well adjusted happy babies, I spend so much time on the floor  with them it is our time, playing with them and just loving them, I never have to advertise as I always have a waiting list, a lot by word of mouth and people coming back for their second or third puppy. As far as the waiting list is concerned only people that I have been in constant contact with and I feel they reach my criteria are on there. I also offer to look after the dogs when they have holidays or if for some reason they cannot keep the dog they must bring them back to me and I will find a suitable home, that has only happened once in all the years I have been breeding.

My babies leave home at 12.5 weeks of age, they do not get their first vaccinations until 7.5 weeks they get micro chipped and spinal xrays at the same time, then I get their second vaccination, by this time they have been taught manners by their Dam, and are well and truly set up for a happy life.

How Do Breeders Choose A Puppy To Send To New Family?
Mjosa replied to KLB's topic in General Dog Discussion
I just do not sell my puppies interstate unless it is someone that has been recommended not by just one but at least two people that I know personally. On the whole I prefer to sell within my state especially when it comes to a pet home. -
He would be teething right now as others have said. Also some Frenchies do not get the spring of rib that is required to give them that rounded look, so those who do not get that spring of rib always look slim no matter how well they eat. With the weights that you said, he is definitely getting as much as he needs, I would only be worried if it was going backwards.

Is your puppy on Mains register or Limited register. If it is the latter you cannot show him unless Karen is willing to put him on the Main register. Limited register is there for dogs that cannot be bred from or shown.

There is a difference between Akitas' and Japanese Akitas, look at the breed listings here on DOL

I have been following Olivia's journey and I feel for your loss of such a treasure. They say beauty is in the eye of the beholder for beauty is not skin deep, it is the character that makes them beautiful. to you and yours and precious precious baby girl fly with the to the to where all your buddies are waiting to see you again.

Marrow bones are OK for Frenchies now and again, mine get a big bone sliced through for the marrow to be exposed, once they have eaten that and any meat on the knuckle end it is taken away and binned.

I am pleased to hear that you have not been scammed, many of us have been over the years with this particular breed. I agree they are the scum of the earth, too damned lazy to get a job, have plenty of time to dream up these ideas and hurt innocent people, ethical breeders and honest purchasers.
-
I am so sorry that you have been scammed, it happened to me about three years ago, when our special babies were not as well known as they are today, of course scammers see the ridiculous prices that some of the so called breeders are asking for puppies and think they can make a quick dollar, just so sad, when I think that I had to wait almost three years got her in 1982, to what it has come to today, so depressing. Anyway I did as you have done and with the help of a couple of Frenchie breeders, one in WA and the other in NZ, they made out that they were interested, these scammers fell for it and gave their bank details and then I contacted that particular bank to let them know what the account holder was doing, they too contacted the police and yes they were caught and prosecuted. I took down my website as apparently they were using photos from off of there.

Staffyluv some good suggestions there as with other posters but when I saw your suggestion of chicken necks I was To the OP take it from one who has had Frenchies for 34 years please DO NOT FEED WHOLE CHICKEN NECKS!!!!!!!! With the structure of a Frenchie in the head area they are not capable of chewing on and swallowing a chicken neck, they would and do try to swallow it whole, I have heard over the years of quite a few Frenchies choking to death on them. I feed raw chicken necks to my kids but they are chopped up into bite size pieces and the day they have them for a meal I supervise them. Marrow bones are fine.

If she had issues before you got her the change to your home has only exacerbated the situation for the poor girl, the breeder should have sorted out the issues before offering her for sale, she seems to have just passed on a problem that she was unable to deal with. First of all I would be phoning the breeder explain that she has turned your house and life upside down and she needs to go back to her. It is obvious she had no socialisation and attention from the time she was born. Crating for eight hours would just make this poor baby even worse , she needs to go back to the breeder as soon as possible. I know of a case, a Frenchie, bought as a puppy and left on his own for over eight hours a day, he became destructive and then domineering, had all the vet behaviourist attention to overcome these problems too no avail, through no fault of his own he is being relieved from this life next week.
