Hi Ellz No shes not a maiden, this is her 2nd litter. She is day 65 from the first mating, day 61 from the last mating. I should have known she would whelp from the last mating because when we did an ultrasound 4 weeks from the first mating we saw nothing and i thought she had missed. Did another US 4 weeks after the last mating and she had a belly full! 6 days makes such a difference on ultrasound. She has 6 or 7 on board. So im not looking at her again till tomorrow afternoon .. in fact, im even going to go out for an hour to the shops!

OK hubby just rang with the progesterone results - 5ng/ml - so we have got a good 24 hours before we see puppies yet! So my guess is Tuesday in the middle of the night ..... but its still October!
-
NOOOOOOOOOOO!! I like October!!!
-
Easy tiger - there must be something cheaper - like boiled water!! Dont waste the good stuff! The 2 little bags! Thats exactly what Scarlett has been doing since mid last week!! :D ... Im all emoticoned out now!
-
Hey if she hasnt whelped by November - im going to C.Section her myself!! And thats coming from a hippy homebirth midwife!!
-
Does this Whippet look like she is about to whelp to you??!!
-
Nothing going on here either Ellz! Ive been wathcing her since mid last week as she was showing what i thought to be subtle signs of being imminent ... appears i might have been watching too hard!! All the puffing, kicking back legs whilst sleeping, looking at her belly, intermittent unsettledness, temp drop .... all means NOTHING!!! My husband says im being neurotic and has taken bloods this morning to do a prog test to see where we are at, to stop my whinging. Other than that ....
-
No nothing going on here either!! Lots of puffing, unsettled intermittently, but thats it! I am hoping she will wake me up tonight .....
-
Woohoo Ellz! The race is on! Tough it looks like you might get a head start before me!
-
Aaah Rascal - gorgeous babies. Love the black puglets! Good luck Ellz, wishing you happy and easy birthing! My girl has passed her mucous plug this morning, very quiet, puffing a lot. Baseline temp every night has been 38.1. It went down to 37.8 last night then 37.7 this morning. My guess is she will carry on through first stage labour all day then start tonight, like she did last time!
-
Oohh i hope so Jerojath! Im bored with staring at her now! ;) Time for babies me thinks! Thanks for your advice, ill take her temp again before bed and wait for the wakeup call of a wet nose on my face!
-
Hey Jerojath I have to admit, ive never paid much attention to temp drops before, i didnt think they were much of an accurate sign? Only because with previous litters, i have never noticed a significant drop in temp before they whelp. What do you think? How long after the drop do they usually whelp and how much does the temp drop by?
-
.... i should have joined the November thread the way we are going! No signs of doing anything here except a 0.4 degree temp drop! No nesting, no panting, pacing, cleaning nipples (she did this incessantly last time!!). Maybe she is more relaxed second time around. ;)

Congrats Baylord! Looks like the rest of the October babies are hanging on! Just noticed my due date on the first page is wrong - my girl is due on the 24th (tomorrow) from the 1st mating, 28th from the last mating. She has been puffy and panty on and off for days. No nesting, yet very picky with her food for days. Temp not down and relaxed otherwise ..... Race you to the October puppy finish line Ellz!!
-
Congrats to everyone with such beautiful babies! Sorry MM about your baby flowers. Here is a radiograph taken of my Scarlett today. She is due anytime from Saturday. We can count 6 or 7 - cant decide - there seems to be an extra skeleton with no skull! :D
-
Yay congrats Jerojath, glad mum and bubs are OK. My girls is fat and uncomfortable and now this hot weather has hit - im sure she will be even less happy! 1 week till her due date though i think she may go a bit later, from the last mating. Fun watching babies move around and kick! I deliver skin babies and look after preggie mums for a living - whippets puppies are so much more exciting!
-
Hows your girl going Jerojath?? ..........
-
13 days to go for my girl if we go from the first mating. Shes already looking uncomfortable. Fingers crossed for an uneventful birth and litter for myself and everyone else.
-
Whippet babies here around the 31st October!! We did another US today - 1 week after the last (when we saw nothing) and we saw at least 5 bubbas! She must have taken from the last mating.
-
Well i got that feeling again today- looks like no puppies again for us My guess is - that sudden dark show of blood at the end of her season was a loss of implantated fetuses due to infection, despite being on a long course of ABs as soon as i noticed it. She is a proven dam and the sire is also proven, so its the best explanation i can come up with. Dammit! Last time she didnt take due to an issue with the sires "swimmers". I can see how one becomes a bit disallusioned with it all after a few disapointments! Edited to say she would have been 3 weeks 5 days from the first mating today, so ill US her again in a week, just to double check ..... Not liking my chances though!
-
Good luck with your babies everyone! Stonebridge i hope your girls are OK. I am getting hubby to scan my girl tomorrow, i resisted till 3 weeks 6 days due to such disapointment last time when she missed (its such a sad feeling looking at an empty belly on ultrasound when you are so excited about potential babies!) Ill let you know if we are confirmed pregnant or not ....
-
She was mated over a week ago, still yet to confirm but fingers crossed!
-
Whippet puppies hopefully due 24th October, will confirm in another 3 weeks ......
