Pup is only a baby still and would be missing his litter brothers and sisters (and his Mum). I reckon if you put the crate beside your bed for a while then as he settles you can slowly move it out a bit at a time. Once he has the confidence to know you aren't going to leave him he should be happy to sleep where ever you choose. Some of my babies have been like this and I find just building the confidence is the way.

Where have you got his crate? If it's in the living area during the day then he can see you and even when you close the door he still knows you are there. I'm just guessing that perhaps you leave it there for the night too? If this is the case I'd suggest you move it into your bedroom for nights. Then just a word from you and he'll know you are nearby and will probably settle easily. This all guess work and probably way of course lol.

Spent a lot of time calling my chocolate Min Pin in out of the sun when I was showing her, orange coat wasn't attractive. She thought it was heaven when she retired and could soak up the sun anytime. Jody, a Gordon Setter, from years past loved swimming in the dam on a cold day - wouldn't go near it on a hot day.

I believe there's new laws in Victoria from the 1st Jan. Pups not to be taken from Mother before 7 weeks, not sold/given away before 8wks, must be vacc'd and microchipped by seller and a bit more. This is available on the DPI site and also another Govn site. Sorry I don't have more details but have read about this on another site.

Just on looks alone - Afghan Rough Collie Aust. Silky Gordon Setter Miniature Pinscher. Woops, all breeds I have had over the years so guess character also comes into it. Love the coated breeds and a good Min Pin, moving correctly is certainly 'King of the Toys'.

She looks a sweetie. If you get caught with a knot again, use scissors with pointy ends, open the scissors and hold them at right angle to the skin and just slide the bottom blade under the knot in the direction the hair grows, not across it. A little bit of upward pressure, away from the skin and snip through the middle of the knot and it should brush out easily. If it's a big knot you may have to snip it a couple of times. By having the scissors going in the hair growth direction and pointing slightly upwards away from the skin you just cant cut the dog and it leaves a better finish - no chunky bits cut out. Sheesh, hope that makes sense, it's really quite easy, learnt that trick when I was grooming lots of messy dogs and never snipped one

Probably the laws have changed now but a few years ago one of my big dogs bit the Solicitor's secretary when she came in the back way to my place although there was clear access to the front. She was a nasty person and I know if she could have sued me, she would have.

Sounds like a neighbour I had a few years ago. Any dog in hearing distance barked and mine got the blame. Best one, went out one evening, got home at about 1.15am, 1.20am phone rings "Your b****y dogs have been barking all night." Had great pleasure in tell him that "My b****y dogs had been with me" and hung up

I've used crates for years mainly for shows and traveling around a lot of Aussie with both big and small dogs. When I start packing the car the dogs would be in their crates ready before I was. All the above mentioned assets are there too, sickness, tradesman, visitors etc. Know I've said this before but I'll be eternally grateful for crates when my car burst into flame in the middle of nowhere. I just had to grab the crates and put them out of the way. If the dogs had been in harnesses or loose, I would not have got them out or they would have run away if loose. All I saved from the car was the dogs and my handbag before it went whoosh. Dogs even had a ride in the ambulance back to the nearest town. Hopefully no-one else has this happen but crates are also great if you breakdown, easy to put them under a shady tree and know they are ok.

I 'think' I read somewhere that there's a certain number of camping spaces allocated to the Club holding the show and you have to contact the Club to book same. Now don't take that for sure, someone else probably (definately, lol) knows much more than I but maybe it's a start if there's no other answers.

A friend's dog got into some RatSack. The first indication was some red blood in his poo and on closer inspection, a small amount of bleeding around the gums. Vet. induced vomitting, some green RatSack came up although it was a couple of days since the dog had been where the poison was. Then injection of Vit K and Vit K tablets for, I think, about 10/14 days. This was a small dog and he was fine, never showed any symptoms except the loss of blood.

Perhaps the dog was transported in a way that there was wind through his/her enclosure and 3 days of that could result in sore eyes.

If you Google the Kennel name there seems to be a number of references. I noticed one at Gulgong NSW appears to have a fair few breeds although it doesn't mention Poms. eta - Just be careful and check all credentials, reg with the CC of the State, health checks etc.

If all my pals from the last 65 years aren't there, guess I'll just have to go looking for them.

Thanks, Inevitablue, very informative, rejection was one thing I was wondering about. Bit more info - Mick, 6yo Min Pin. At about 6 months started turning a foot out. Chiro.next, who picked up the problem was the elbow. Xray showed the small bone on the top of the ulna/radius (? always forget which is which) was missing, no bone fragments, smooth rounded edge so Vet assumes he was born like it or injured in the nest. On Joint Guard since then and started Cartrophen injections about 12 months ago when he was showing increased pain after excercise (being a Min. he's always flat out!). Read about the stem cell treatment, spoke to my Vet and he's also going to investigate further. It sounds as if the donor cells are the way to go and my Vet can do this without the trauma of the collection operation. Thanks, Abgail, I think Inevitablue has given me most of the Info I was looking for without me bumbling through a heap of questions lol. I've only just really started investigating this and from what I've read the patient cells require taking the dog to an approved Vet. where as donor cells can be sent to my own Vet.for implanting. From the Vets. advertised on line to do this, they are mainly in Melbourne and that's a 1000k round trip for me. My Vet is also doing some research into this and while I'd rather not have to travel, if it turns out that this is the best way then I'll go that way. Would you mind if I PMd you to ask for a few more details?

Guess all the info is in the Title. I'm more interested in using the donar cells than the patient cells and would want my Vet to do the work.

Sparky Tansy, while I dont have any markets etc around to have my pup grabbed from behind, I did have a Judge do just that. Of course, it didn't have anything to do with the fact that my pup had consistantly beaten hers, different breed, for P.I.G. Pup turned around to look and got dropped for 'temperament' Anyway 'Karma' - same weekend we went right through to Puppy in Show at a Royal again leaving her behind

Hehehe AmaCam+Digby, that's nearly a mighty Metropolis - we can rally up about 75 on a good day (Not all at once though) Hmmmm wonder how a Kelpie pup would go? Nope, they would want to have him/her to round up their sheep lol.

Actually I've read this thread with a bit of envy. Try socialising your show pups in a place where you can walk up the main street most times of the day and not see a soul. So you resort to taking them into the two shops in town, plonking them on the counter and saying 'please pat my pup". Then you drive into the next town, a bit bigger,40ks away, sit on a seat, walk up and down the street while all the farmers hurry past on their business. So a trip to the 'big smoke' 150ks away, much the same, guess farming people have seen enough pups? The only dogs you meet, you don't want to interact with, let alone your pup! No puppy schools, no dog excercise areas, you join an obedience club, 150ks distance, two trips were enough to know that wasn't going to help. Go to their first show with fingers crossed, most are fine but there's always those who freak out and it takes a lot of shows to get them socialised and happy in the ring. Some people are lucky

Whippet zoomies are great until one runs into you. When you heave yourself off the ground you then find the crazy Whippet has broken your ankle and she doesn't even have a headache :D
