  1. My BC who is now 3yrs reacted to his C4 , he was ill for a few days and on a drip at the Vets. Our Vet always says dogs are like kids, some react to the vaccinations some dont, they prefer to only give the C3 for the early vaccinations unless specifically requested and usually only give the C4 at 16 weeks. they seem to think that younger pups cant handle the C4 before their 16 week vaccinations, which is probably right. And if you get a Vet that mis-calculates the dosage for the age and size of the pup well that could have deadly results. they must accurately weigh the dogs each time they see the Vet, ours do as part of their records so it is updated automatically. my baby BC is having his C4 tomorrow afternoon, he is 16 weeks, his Mum is also having her annual booster, I believe in vaccinating, I have seen the results of dogs who are not, its a very sad and painful way to die, not to mention people who have lost whole litters to Parvo and that is just tragic. Parvo can live in the soil for a couple of years, and if you get a wet Summer it seems to bring it out of the woodwork. this current Summer has had a high rate of Parvo. Certain breeds are more prone to it as well, like Rotties and other large breeds.
  2. :D ;) I was out at a friends farm, we were sitting on the verandah having a coffee, when there was an almighty cackling coming from the chook pen down the back, when we went to investigate, her old Rottie bitch was coming out with a very full mouth, My friend demanded that she drop what was in her mouth, well this dog gently dropped the first two eggs on the grass, but flatley refused to give up the 3rd one :D she looked at the eggs looked back up at us and just calmly walked off to her kennel. It was amazing to see firstly how she could fit three in her mouth , and not break a single one! :D and then the defiant look on her face like she had done us a favour by collecting the eggs and this was her reward
  3. we had a rottie bitch about 8 years ago, who did similar things whe she was about 9 / 10 years old, started acting wierd, going after people whom she knew, but it finally dawned on us that her eyesight was going, her hear wasnt the best either. Our vet suggested that, the pacing and digging and chewing could have been a form of distraction for her as she had athritis, and was possibly reacting to some pain. (she was a rescue girl who had been badly mistreated and half starve before we got her) we only had her for about four years until this, and she was the most sweet gentle affectionate sweetie you could imagine, and wonderful with kids. We put her on medication for the Athritis pain for about 6 months until the next Summer, it seemed to help the destructivness. but everyone who came into the yard called out very loudly so she could recognise their voice and not eat them but the following Winter we had to make the terrible decision to let her go as it was just too cruel as she really went down hill that Winter, she was now over 11 years we think, but like our vet said she had a wonderful life with us for nearly 5.5 years a life that she would not otherwise have had. We still think of Shamrock she was defnitely a one of a kind.
