  1. Hi all, I apologise if this has been discussed previously, however I did a search and couldn't find anything specific. A lady I see at the park quite regularly had her 9 yr old Cocker Spaniel bitch vaccinated recently with C5. Apparently, for two days afterwards the dog basically couldn't move. She was stiff and in obvious pain/discomfort. She bit her "mum" at one point from the pain so I presume it was pretty bad for her. This apparently happened last time she had the vaccine as well. Both times this reaction has happened, the needle was given "one time in her bum, the other time in her side". From what I can gather, she can't get much feedback from her vet on this. I was wondering if anyone has had a smiliar experience or may know what is causing this reaction to the vaccine - obviously its something specific to this particular dog? Any ideas appreciated, thanks
  2. It appears that the majority of people here (or those who post anyway) are all for the BARF diet and feed some form of raw bones even if their feeding regime isn't entirely BARF. At the moment my dogs are getting a small handful of dry biscuits each in the morning (a premium brand) and then either raw mince & vege mix or bones (lamb offcuts, chicken necks) for dinner. Sometimes they get a bowl ful of leftovers which might be sausage, lamb chop meat, roast veges, bit of rice, etc., all mixed together. That's usually a Tuesday night (bin night!!) when the fridge gets a clean out - they love it! Occassionally if I run out of their usual food they end up with Tucker Time roll. I always have a roll in the fridge unopened or cut up into smaller chunks in the freezer. They're all fit & healthy with lovely healthy coats, nice clean teeth and full of energy
  3. I get mine vaccinated annually. In fact they were done yesterday They go to a big local park, dog shows, kennels, club events. So not only are they fairly exposed but it's a requirement to have them vaccinated anyway.
  4. Mine get bones (chicken necks and lamb necks or offcuts) 3 or 4 times a week
  5. Did a search on heartworm treatment and found this thread. Everything I was looking for Have decided against the yearly injections after reading the comments here and am about to buy Heartgard from Priceless Pets for a good $10 cheaper than I'm paying now! Thanks guys!! ;)
  6. The last one in WA for the year is on 5th Sept but I'm really doubtful we'll be fit and ready by then, which is a bummer What are they expected to do in the obedience test?
  7. Hi Cin, I was researching this yesterday. If you search for Endurance Test in this section of the forum, it comes up with heaps of info Claire

  11. Oh TJ, I'm sorry for your loss I know what it's like to have them come home to you from the crematorium. It gave me a lot of comfort to know she was home where she belonged and I hope you feel comfort the same way. RIP little girl ;)
