  1. Hey, don't you believe it!!! I recently had a scratch and a BRUISE, from one of mine who was a bit hyper and excited to see me, I called her and she came sprinting up, had no breaks and rammed straight into my leg The manual from K9 Force is great, and it's very easy to follow, step-by-step.
  2. To give you an example, one of my lot was down the back corner of the garden barking this morning. She did not have her ecollar on... I called her, and I admit it was not instant (I had to repeat the command a few times). But then she came - running flat out. Then I told her "on your mat!" and pointed to her mat. She got on it, I said Drop! she dropped, I said Stay! and she stayed til I released her. All without the ecollar on. And I have to :D admit that I haven't been doing nearly as much training with them as I should. Certainly not every day, last time with her, probably about a week ago. So yep they do things they're told even without the collar on With regards to competition obedience though, I don't know so can't comment. I don't know if you'd approach the ecollar work any differently. Best ask the gurus
  3. Sorry, juggling a few things at the moment! I've put an ad out in other areas, as so far with just DOL, less than 20 ppl have said they're interested. No guarantee they would all attend, let alone attend both days - ideally, we need 20 people minimum on both days. On my To Do list is to PM everyone on here who's said they're interested, get email addresses and send out as much info as we have for the moment.
  4. Thanks Denis for your kind words. Unfortunately no I don't have "before" videos. I can tell you though, when they were snarling and carrying on trying to rip sh!t out of each other, going to get the video camera wasn't really at the forefront of my mind!!!
  5. Thanks RottyLover01 K9: yeah terrible isnt it? Going from beating hell out of each other to off leash obedience in a matter of weeks.. Dont know how you can live with only those results... Well done CB well when you put it like that... thanks
  6. OK here goes... this is NOT perfect, I've picked it to pieces myself!! But K9 convinced me to share it... so here's a video of my "aggressive Jacks"
  7. sorry BP... But... That's better!! Now go for a ride on your bicyclaay!
  8. Woops, sorry. "Speak K9" Hmm, maybe I should post it...
  9. I might as well answer your question as well Recall Sit Drop SAAD/DAAD Place (mat) training/send away Loose leash walking This all ties in with my pack structure program to control the aggression issue between my 2 bitches. For my male, who has no aggression issues, it's more basic obedience - reliable recall and loose leash walking, but he needs to obey the rules around the house & yard too! I'm also doing TOT with all 3 dogs, still separately, all off the tie-out and doing a series of sits/drops/stays etc before they're released to eat. The aim is I will eventually have all 3 on mats, all 3 bowls down, and they will each get to eat after they've been called off their mat, told to sit, the other told to drop, one back to their mat, the other called off mat and told drop/stay, etc etc. I feel I could almost do this now with the 2 girls (what do you reckon Steve?!) but Norman's training started later, he's not at the same level as the girls just yet.
  10. Easy, my remote is round my neck!! No but seriously, he's doing well (Mark that is) considering he's not really into all this training lark
  11. No kidding I spend most of the walk watching them both (which says a lot for how the girls are going on a walk together!!). I can tell when he's switched off and not paying attention to the dog. So can the dog :D **clap clap** are we paying attention?!?!
  12. Hey BP, I jumped on last night and read your last few updates - way to go :D You're going great guns, I'd better get my skates on hehehe!! I've handed Norman & his remote (it's like a package deal LOL) to my other half out on walks now. It's so lovely to see him walking along without hauling at the end of his lead. Sit's when he's told and looks up at Mark as though to say "did I do it right Dad?!" Last night he was distracted by a BAT flying out of a tree!!! Got to the end of his lead and Mark recalled him straight back to his side and into sit. I was so proud... of them both!
  13. Steve has a way of explaining things that really enables you to "get it" ;) Even if you don't understand at first, he'll change the analogy and it will just click. Trust me I'll put you down on the list ;)
  14. Oh look, a Little Britain fan who uses an ecollar! Cool! Isn't it "swim in rivers... wearing dresses and hats.... and sh!t"? Sorry. Eh eh ehhhhh. Back on topic
  15. Really? How did I describe it?! LOL! I already had these, they fit in the airline crates.
  16. OK, dragging this one from the deep dark depths for an update. We've incorporated place training with the girls which is a massive help when having all the dogs together. It helps them to settle & relax in each other's company when they have a place to go, on their mats. Norman now has an e collar, and we've got his recall & sit happening (in a couple of 5-10 minute sessions). Here's a pic taken tonight of the 2 girls on their mats and Norman beside me, after being called and told sit. Basic maybe, but I stress, this dog had absolutely no recall whatsoever before he got his collar. And before place training, the girls wouldn't sit/drop/stay. Now they don't budge - a couple of times I've released 1 girl and put her inside, wandered off and left the other on her mat, come back 10 minutes later and she's still there Just basic obedience it may be, but not even 3 months ago I had 3 JRT's literally running rings around me. Now look at em
  17. Hey BP - congrats, that's BRILLIANT news!!! You must be absolutely thrilled. I'm grinning for you
  18. Hey BP, You know this "velcro dog" thing?? Well how's this - was doing some recall work with Norman the other night while my OH was swimming. Used him in the pool as distraction, to create some distance, to get an opportunity to guide him on the recall!!! Anyway, that worked, and we did some work around the pool. Then I put the remote down, took my thongs off, etc and got into the pool via the steps. Norman got on the top step to bite at the water - as he always does. I then dived off the steps under the water and when I came up, my OH said "he's behind you". I said yeh, I know. He said "No, I mean he's RIGHT BEHIND YOU". Velcro??? You bet - he dived off the step at the same time I jumped and was right behind me. Well... I guess I had just spent the last 10 minutes telling him to come, he was just doing as he was told...
  19. Hi all Perthies, We're trying to get numbers up, so spread the word!! As Steve is located in NSW and we're aaaallllllll the way over here in Perth, we need more people than have so far showed interest, for it to be viable. If we get enough interest and it does go ahead, at this stage we'd be looking at June...
  20. Hi RidgyGirl, Sorry to hear you're having such a crap time at the moment with your girls - trust me, I know exactly how it feels!! You read my thread about my girls... I didn't realise our problem was all linked to pack structure and my lack of leadership, but once it was spelt out to me it was pretty obvious You talk about having 1 dog on your lap on the couch, who then avoids eye contact with the other dog on the ground, "mexican stand-offs", growling, etc. Yep I can relate to it all!! In our house the rule is now NO dogs on the couch, laps, beds, etc. Anywhere higher, where humans (higher pack members) sit, sleep, etc, is out of bounds. It elevates their position in the pack to take up these positions and then the problems start. We have crates which we use (always have had), but also use mats now which we can move around the house & garden, and have taught them to go and stay on their mats. They don't move until I tell them they can. They like having a place to go and "knowing where they stand" (so to speak!). Someone mentioned to not be on the floor with them either - and I have to agree with this too. Been there, done that - and got into trouble with it (only recently). I put myself down on their level, which was a stupid thing to do knowing what issues I have with them! I know it is hard at first to take a tougher stance but you have to do it. The dogs will be happier for it - they need you to do this.
  21. Oh yeh, does have a bit of a pink tinge to it on the photo!! I PROMISE you it's just an old white doona - he's not gay!!! It's not raining here... picture perfect weather. No excuse for me, need to get off the computer and get my A into G!
  22. I'm not interested in the other crap that's gone on in this post, but I will say this - I hope you're serious about getting that professional help. I thought I knew my dogs too - ones I've owned for 4 years and they are Jack Russell Terriers. How wrong I was. I was sure I knew what was going on with them, and who was causing the trouble, and why. I'm not a professional and neither are you, and until a professional assesses your dog(s), you won't ever really know what you're dealing with. Your original post was yesterday, and you were very concerned. Today, everything is OK. I know from personal experience that it doesn't fix itself that easily and even bandaid attempts don't fix a serious underlying problem. Good luck with your pup, I really do hope it all works out OK. But I would get that pro help.
  23. Unfortunately if you're more than a 1 dog household I think the sofa, bed, etc is out of bounds. It's asking for trouble - like what happened with your two today I've learnt the hard way too. I've had to implement this at home now with my 3, it's all a part of working on our pack structure. They can't be anywhere that elevates their position above the other dogs, or level with me. I've started place training with a mat, so they know on their mat - and that's their spot. We use crates as well but aiming for more mat time, less crate time. I used to think I'd never survive without couch cuddles... but you do get used to it!!
  24. Poor Norman nothing!! He's a dude! I've got the Dogtra 200 Gold - a 2 dog and a 1 dog. Both girls' working level is 20. Norman's is 16.
