For Those Who Use E-collars
Meriment replied to shekhina's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Hey, don't you believe it!!! I recently had a scratch and a BRUISE, from one of mine who was a bit hyper and excited to see me, I called her and she came sprinting up, had no breaks and rammed straight into my leg The manual from K9 Force is great, and it's very easy to follow, step-by-step. -

To give you an example, one of my lot was down the back corner of the garden barking this morning. She did not have her ecollar on... I called her, and I admit it was not instant (I had to repeat the command a few times). But then she came - running flat out. Then I told her "on your mat!" and pointed to her mat. She got on it, I said Drop! she dropped, I said Stay! and she stayed til I released her. All without the ecollar on. And I have to :D admit that I haven't been doing nearly as much training with them as I should. Certainly not every day, last time with her, probably about a week ago. So yep they do things they're told even without the collar on With regards to competition obedience though, I don't know so can't comment. I don't know if you'd approach the ecollar work any differently. Best ask the gurus -
Sorry, juggling a few things at the moment! I've put an ad out in other areas, as so far with just DOL, less than 20 ppl have said they're interested. No guarantee they would all attend, let alone attend both days - ideally, we need 20 people minimum on both days. On my To Do list is to PM everyone on here who's said they're interested, get email addresses and send out as much info as we have for the moment.

Thanks Denis for your kind words. Unfortunately no I don't have "before" videos. I can tell you though, when they were snarling and carrying on trying to rip sh!t out of each other, going to get the video camera wasn't really at the forefront of my mind!!!

Thanks RottyLover01 K9: yeah terrible isnt it? Going from beating hell out of each other to off leash obedience in a matter of weeks.. Dont know how you can live with only those results... Well done CB well when you put it like that... thanks

OK here goes... this is NOT perfect, I've picked it to pieces myself!! But K9 convinced me to share it... so here's a video of my "aggressive Jacks"

I might as well answer your question as well Recall Sit Drop SAAD/DAAD Place (mat) training/send away Loose leash walking This all ties in with my pack structure program to control the aggression issue between my 2 bitches. For my male, who has no aggression issues, it's more basic obedience - reliable recall and loose leash walking, but he needs to obey the rules around the house & yard too! I'm also doing TOT with all 3 dogs, still separately, all off the tie-out and doing a series of sits/drops/stays etc before they're released to eat. The aim is I will eventually have all 3 on mats, all 3 bowls down, and they will each get to eat after they've been called off their mat, told to sit, the other told to drop, one back to their mat, the other called off mat and told drop/stay, etc etc. I feel I could almost do this now with the 2 girls (what do you reckon Steve?!) but Norman's training started later, he's not at the same level as the girls just yet. -

Easy, my remote is round my neck!! No but seriously, he's doing well (Mark that is) considering he's not really into all this training lark -

No kidding I spend most of the walk watching them both (which says a lot for how the girls are going on a walk together!!). I can tell when he's switched off and not paying attention to the dog. So can the dog :D **clap clap** are we paying attention?!?! -

Hey BP, I jumped on last night and read your last few updates - way to go :D You're going great guns, I'd better get my skates on hehehe!! I've handed Norman & his remote (it's like a package deal LOL) to my other half out on walks now. It's so lovely to see him walking along without hauling at the end of his lead. Sit's when he's told and looks up at Mark as though to say "did I do it right Dad?!" Last night he was distracted by a BAT flying out of a tree!!! Got to the end of his lead and Mark recalled him straight back to his side and into sit. I was so proud... of them both! -

BP - way to go!!! That is totally awesome!! -
Steve has a way of explaining things that really enables you to "get it" ;) Even if you don't understand at first, he'll change the analogy and it will just click. Trust me I'll put you down on the list ;)
