If you like the feel of the Pentax, keep your eye out for a Nikon bargain too. I decided on the Nikon because it felt similar in my hands to the Pentax (the weight, where the dials were etc).

Did I mention I love my new camera?
-
I love looking at all the unusual colours and markings :D I think the red Bostons are gorgeous
-
Sorry Erin, it's a market day for me.
-
FWIW, I am in no way bagging Pentax. I learnt on a Pentax But Canon and Nikon are (IMO) better choices because of the reasons listed above. The 50D is a great camera (and I'm not a Canon person).

I had my first play yesterday I posted a couple of pics in the 50mm thread: http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?show...0&start=780

Ok, first shots with my new camera (and I've also managed to borrow a 50mm 1.4):
-
I would take the Canon, save up another $150ish and then you can buy the 50mm 1.8. Then you're totally in the land of DSLR.

Harry gets the hose outside (only in the warmer months), Lola gets bathed in the laundry sink. They probably only get bathed a handful of times each year

I had fantastic customer service over the phone when I spoke to your guy, Alicia (after I mentioned you ) But when I dealt with the other staff yesterday, it was a bit of a different story. When I first went in there I said 'I'm here to pick up a D300s that I paid for over the phone yesterday. My name is Katie etc etc'. He comes back and says that there is no D3000 out there for me, and I said 'That's because it was a 300' He said 'Oh sorry, I thought you meant a D3000'. Then I tried to give him the trade in camera and he said 'Oh we actually don't take trade ins' So I explained the Nikon trade in deal and he went and got someone else for me to deal with. Then we went through the same thing before she made a phonecall to check that it was a current promotion and it was ok to trade in a drowned film SLR Then when we were going through all of that, another person came over and said that the deal was that it had to be a working camera to trade in. So he was reassured that it had all been checked with the big guy, but he was still pretty uncertain Anyway, we got there in the end.

Oh bugger! I wasn't sure if you still had it, or whether you get on here much anymore. Not to worry, I got a pretty good deal anyway
-
I can't afford it either Carebear But I need a new one and it's a good opportunity to upgrade, especially since I have started second shooting :D Anyway, I picked it up this morning and the battery is charging. The dials are all different and it's heavier!

Thanks guys :p I'm not sure whether to expect better photos, I think I need better lenses first. Although I do expect to be able to bump up the ISO a bit more. It has heaps more focus points too. Here are the trade in details: http://www.nikon.com.au/pagearticle.php?pa...=257-81b9e95b0d It can be any SLR and doesn't even have to be working.

Isn't she gorgeous?

Sorry ladies, changed the title

Sorry, there are lots of these threads, but I have to share I am getting a D300s tomorrow (hopefully!) ;) My D80 ended up having quite a few issues, so will be refunded. It's a bit of a bummer, but because it was so cheap, the refund won't go very far towards a new camera. So, my parents are helping me out and so is an amazing friend - by donating an old SLR to my cause, which I can use for the trade-in that Nikon are offering right now So excited about my upgrade. ETA I must add that Nikon have been fantastic to deal with too ;)

Gorgeous Helen I was going for a bit of a halloween vibe this week. It didn't really work, but I thought this one was kinda cool:

Oh that's a bugger No progress on mine, I am struggling with the padding part.

Yes kja, but does it shoot in RAW?

I think she makes to order. So when someone orders a certain bag, it disappears off the site and then she re-lists if she has enough of the fabric left. That's my constant battle with selling online too, keeping limited amounts of fabric makes it really difficult.
