  1. And you are a very talented dog photographer. How exciting to be working with Dogs QLD - what will you be doing there? And why did you stop being a vet nurse? And di you do those photos huga? They are very very good! Just an admin role with Dogs QLD Registering litters in the database and that type of thing. My first proper job since having my son over four years ago! I stopped being a vet nurse because it didn't pay the mortgage. And yep, all the photos I post are my own.
  2. And you are a very talented dog photographer. Thanks PF - mostly my own though! People tend to pay more
  3. I have a B App Sci (Animal Studies). In the past I have worked as a vet nurse, in a pet shop and in an animal ethics office. On Monday I start work with Dogs QLD. On the retail side, I used to make dog collars and leads (but have just stopped). Oh and I'm starting obedience with Sid next Monday.
  4. Lucky you! Are you bouncing the flash off the ceiling? You can also try bouncing it behind you. Also, try focusing on the dogs eyes when you take your photos. Have fun
  5. Does he poop candy too? I wish. Actually, it was a little girl that called him the Easter Bunny last week and in her defense, he does look kinda rabbity
  6. Day 124 - 03.05.11 Grateful for... A successful job interview. Day 125 - 04.05.11 Grateful for... Planes Day 126 - 05.05.11 Grateful for... My first film from the $2 Vivitar. On a side note: The time was the same two days in a row. I had to double check it! How weird is that?
  7. I have ugly dogs who have been chasing parked cars and who have eyes that will pop out. Actually, that's mainly just Lola. Most people don't know what Sid is and he has been referred to as the following: pitbull, pig dog, boxer, staffy x, jrt x and Easter Bunny
  8. I didn't have to travel far for mine, but I just did 7+hrs there and 7+hrs back (plus an overnight stay) with Rocco to get Simon ;)
  9. I can only comment on UQ and how they handle dead animals (mainly sourced from the abbatoir, we're not up to doing lots with live animals yet) and I promise that ethics is a big big thing and all students are made aware of it. I've just finished a subject where we had to dissect goats and reproductive tracts of cows etc and some students were taking photos of themselves with the bits and posting them on facebook. They were told to remove them due to ethical requirements and if they did not they would fail the course. So, as far as I'm concerned UQ takes the ethics side very seriously. I completely agree with Sparky. I can only speak for the office I worked at, but my god, it was strict. So strict that I was often shocked that some projects were not allowed to be undertaken. For those that don't realise, every project involving animals (from observation in the wild, through to the most invasive stuff - cancer treatments etc), has to be approved by the relevant committee before the project can start. Each committee is made up of a variety of people - from lay people right through to researchers. A project getting approved the first time in front of the committee was rare.
  10. Oh this old chesnut again. I don't have a problem with it and I used to work in an Animal Ethics Office.
  11. Ohhh, sorry! I have CS5 which also does it.
  12. Sid is around 4 and a half months now and it's like he's always been here! Some more recent pics:
  13. Day 123 - 02.05.11 Grateful for... Long weekend afternoons in the backyard.
  14. Lola has caught a rat before. I was so shocked that I took a photo to prove it
  15. Sorry tlc, I don't use that feature on LR - so I have no idea! Day 121 - 30th April 2011 Grateful for... Expressing faith in different ways. Day 122 - 1st May 2011 Grateful for... Pretty little details. (Styling by Nik at Events By Design: http://www.eventbydesign.com.au)
  16. They don't even have batteries, how weird is that?! Can't wait to use the Yashica properly, you have to set all the settings on the front of the lens. It was my great grandfathers and my parents gave it to me this week. I have no idea how to meter it though, so will use my camera to measure the light first ETA The other two came from an op shop for $2 and the Nikon is my parents old camera. I have no idea if any of them even work.
  17. Flyball always looks so fun. I wish I had given it a go with Harry. Day 118 - 27.04.11 Grateful for... Discovering Underwater World with the boys. Day 119 - 28.04.11 Grateful for... New toys. Day 120 - 29.04.11 Grateful for... Film for my new toys.
  18. Just be aware that the 70-200 is a big, heavy lens - especially after having the 50mm on! I used one for a wedding one day and had very sore wrists by the end.
  19. Day 114 - 23.04.11 Grateful for... Playtime with friends at the beach. Day 115 - 24.04.11 Grateful for... Successful Easter egg hunts. Day 117 - 26.04.11 Grateful for... Catching rare opportunities.
  20. Still away on hols, so ducking in quickly! Day 112 - 21.04.11 Grateful for... Awesome blonde shampoo. Day 113 - 22.04.11 Grateful for... Extended family visits. Day 116 - 25.04.11 Grateful for... Long walks along the beach.
  21. And *cough* I think little Sid just has things for good looking girls with cameras Actually, I think he would just go home with anyone
  22. Nawww, brilliant! I love the ones of Si at the house
  23. Most vets aren't breeders. ETA Beagle x Pug is a very popular cross with BYBers and puppy farmers.
