Pugs can be complete pains in the butt to toilet train, my girl wasn't reliable until she was 5 months old. Crate training got us there in the end. That said, my Frenchy is still not reliable and he's nearly 6 months On the other hand, my old GSD x picked it up within a forntight. I feel for you, it's tough. You just need to be consistent and either crate her or watch her like a hawk. Rewarding with something really awesome may help too, but you have to be watching and reward her the very instant she goes where you want.

Oh frig, am I not supposed to be up to 165? Argh. Will have to go back through and find where I've skipped a day. But not now. Lovely composition kja

LML - like others have said, try focusing on the eyes You would really benefit from getting the camera off auto, it's deciding everything for you, which isn't ideal - especially with the flash going off. Try taking some photos outside in nice light (not direct sun). Then you will be able to have the s/s fast enough. I had the 50mm on again this weekend. I seem to go through phases of barely using it and then using it heaps.

Wow, aren't they a stunning colour? Beautiful.
-
Lola I just liked and Sid comes from the UK tv series 'Skins'

Raineth, now that I've seen the photos, the dog doesn't have much detail and the side of the little boys face is quite blown out (on my not calibrated, but pretty spot on monitor).
-
It could be your monitor too. Most of the time they are too bright (dark prints) and on the cool side (yellowy prints).

In WA, Ruby was placed in my name as a pup and it appeared on her CAWA registration papers as me as the registered owner, even had a membership number against my name. I was not a financial member. Then when I did formally join a couple of years later, that number "reserved" for me became mine. Yep, that's how it works here too
-
In QLD we have non-members (ie puppy buyers who aren't financial members of Dogs QLD, but are still in our system) and financial members.
-
Don't use it at 1.4?
-
Thank you. There is a lot of vintagey processing around at the moment though - some good, but lots bad. I'm very wary of falling into that trap. CC - that second shot is magic. Well done. ETA And everyone does OTT processing when the first start out. Everyone. Seriosuly. My old stuff makes me cringe.
-
Thanks I keep trying to move in a different direction with colour, but I can't seem to find something I like. I have a feeling I'm going to look back on my processing and get extremely embarrassed, I think it will end up like spot colouring, sepia etc I get so envious of people that can process beautifully.

157/365 Grateful for... Catch ups with friends.
-
As above. You can have two (one for each breed) if you want though. But then it's double the maintenance etc.

Awesome action Kirislin A couple from yesterday:

How awful Gosh there seems to be a lot of Frenchies getting stolen at the moment.

Woo hoo! Nice work ladies. I haven't posted here for a while either. Last weekend I was asked to shoot the coolest kids party ever. Daneve (who organised and styled the whole thing) is the talent behind Ah Tissue, so lots of my images will end up getting used for advertising and promotion. There were some super cool details, here are some with the 50mm: The kids had jungle hats and binoculars:
-
I doubt there will be much of a difference in normal light, I just love how it can be pushed much further in low light. Handy for shooting in dark churches (and hopefully for births one day).
-
I struggle with actions shots, partly because I have a white dog and partly because I am crap at action. You need a lovely fast shutter speed for action. But yes, the 50mm is nice and fast, so goes ok with action. I have a D300s with a 24mm, a 50mm 1.8 and a 105mm. One day I'll get my D700 and keep the D300 as a back up.

Found it: From here: http://photo.net/equipment/nikon/D3000/review/ So you won't be able to auto focus on your body with the 1.8.
-
I haven't done comparisons side by side like that, but honestly, I really can't tell the difference between the 1.4 and the 1.8. I borrowed Rocco's 1.4 for a while and assumed my photos would look sharper with that lens, but they really didn't. Rocco said she couldn't see the difference either. I shoot in RAW, so my images always need a bit of sharpening - I just couldn't say that one was better or worse than the other.
-
He's the same size as Lola now and is getting that real bulldoggy chunky look about him. He's been going through quite a lanky stage, so it's good to see him filling out a bit. We are off to visit his breeder on Saturday, so will be interesting to compare him to his brother.

You might want to double check that you can use the AF to auto focus on your camera body. The entry level bodies don't have the focus motor built in, so it needs to be in the lens. Which means you may need the AFS lens.
