I agree with the bolded part I have two dogs and two kids. All are behaved well enough to take out in public. My children have their fair share of *ahem* moments, but they are generally well adjusted little guys. There are similarities between how I 'train' my kids and my dogs (consistency, NILF, complete and utter stubborness etc). One of the big differences is that you can't crate your kids though, bugger it. huga - would you say your family/peers think you have exemplary kids/dogs? (or, I suppose not leaving you much room to be humble, do they allude to that?) I am constantly told what good manners my kids have, so I guess that's something ;) There is also the other extreme - the odd filthy look or snarky comment when someone is having a meltdown in Coles (that includes me ). But the good stuff outweighs the bad. I was going to say I never get told what good manners my dogs have, but just this morning the vet phoned and told me that Sid is an angel (he is in for some xrays and surgery today). It's nice to know he's behaving himself while he's away from me.

The vet told me the growth plates fuse at around 7 months, so Sid must be just before. I dropped him off this morning. He was happy to see the vet nurse and got all snorty and excited and licked her face. He has no idea what's coming. The vet was going to call after he has his xrays done this morning, so I'm just waiting to hear.

When Did You Get A New Furry Family Member?
huga replied to Pretty Miss Emma's topic in General Dog Discussion
We lost Harry in November last year. Afterwards, Lola's behaviour broke my heart. She barely moved from her bed, wouldn't even get up when people came over (usually she would bark first, then get pats etc). I didn't know what to do with her. It took her much longer to get over it than us. I knew that I wanted a Frenchie eventually, but I also knew that Lola would be better with a companion sooner rather than later. So I contacted a breeder in December and we were super lucky to bring Sid home in March (he was born on Boxing Day). I thought I would have to wait for much, much longer to get a Frenchie puppy, but the breeder and I just clicked and he was very suited to our situation. It was meant to be. It all happened much faster than expected, and some people were suprised that we 'moved on' so quickly. But the timing was perfect - Lola was back to her normal self within 24 hours of bringing Sid home. -
Thanks for all the info. It's invaluable to hear someone elses experience. How old was Electra when it happened? Sid is almost 7 months.

Thanks Nik. Thank you so much Raffiki - what an ordeal for you though! Lucky for me, Sid is already crate trained, so has been resting in there comfortably. He's not happy about it, but he is at ease with the crate. I feel so sorry for him though. Seeing those xrays was awesome, that's exactly how the vet explained it to me (including the figure 8 of wire to keep the bone in place). Xrays and surgery for Sid tomorrow and then I'm going to ask my boss if I can take him into work. Otherwise, I'm not entirely sure what I will do with him.

I went from a D80 to a D300s within a few months, but the D80 was faulty and I knew I wanted to upgrade so seized the opportunity then. I was using it for second shooting weddings and pushing it to its absolute limits. Now I have my eyes firmly set on the D700, just so I can have my D300 as a back up. ETA It's super common for people with entry level cameras to want to upgrade. Now whenever someone asks me to recommend a camera, I say to avoid the entry level model, because you will probably want to upgrade within 6-12 months anyway.

I got home yesterday afternoon and Sid was limping. Rested him overnight in his crate, but there was no change this morning so off to the vet we went. It looks like he has fractured his tibial crest (pointy bit under knee), which is apparently not uncommon in young dogs of his age. Xrays to confirm on Monday and most likely surgery Has anyone had any experience with this?

Yes, overseas prefixes are checked. Common names, names of places etc are nuked, but obviously some slip through every now and then. Prefixes have to be at least three letters different from others (i.e If spotthedog exists, you couldn't have spotthedogs - but you might get spotthedoggies or aspotteddog (maybe, but probably not if they were the same breed)). If a prefix has been unfinancial for more than 10 years, it may be re-issued, but not if the breed is the same.

Really? Maybe I have massive feet I nearly caught my toes a couple of times when I was using a 14mm-24mm for a wedding last year.
-
Cool Ravyk! I have come to the conclusion that I need this lens (not that I ever photograph landscape stuff). Do you find you have to watch you don't get your toes in when you shoot at 10mm?

Bec, I've meaning to tell you for ages - that last one is sublime. I adore it.

CC - that second one is amazing. I convert at least 50% of my photos into B&W (although it could be more!). Here are some faves:

You can have a technically perfect photo that is still as boring as hell. That thingy works on focus, but it can't compose a brilliant image.

Awesome effort Nik! Bones is cool :D Day 187 - 06.07.11 Grateful for... Toasty dogs. It's freezing! Ollie added the blanket. Day 188 - 07.07.11 Grateful for... A lunch making husband. Day 189 - 08.07.11 Grateful for... One hour until bedtime. Day 190 - 09.07.11 Grateful for... Birthday cake.

He is six months old now and bigger than Lola. He is turning into quite the chunky monkey. I made a little slideshow of his first six months:

I get the loveliest bokeh from the 105mm, the 50mm can be nice, but sometimes it's a bit weird.

Well, you already know that I think they're tops. Those suitcases never looked so good!

It's simply to encourage the ownership of pedigree dogs. Maybe if enough people voice their thoughts on the issue to Dogs QLD, the rule may be reviewed by council ;)

This is correct

Those toothbrushes are cute. Where did you get them from? :D They come from Target
