  1. One on the coffee table and one on the tv cabinet.
  2. Thanks guys :) It was hard. I cut out the monster from cardboard, stuck him on a table in front of me, camera on tripod - etc. I thought I put the flash behind the monster to create the shadow, but that didn't work. So I ended up turning all the lights out, putting a torch behind the cardboard monster and then aiming a torch at my face (otherwise I was completely in the dark). I really pushed the camera too ISO3200 f2.5 s/s at 1/40th.
  3. Eleven 'I let the beast in too soon I don't know how to live without my hands on his throat I fight him always and still...' - Fiona Apple
  4. I love your week 11, Larissa! So clever!
  5. Yes, the detail in the eyes, the difference in the background, the lack of noise - it's all awesome. And Kirislin - yep, the kids are pretty brilliant with the camera. It's even possible to shoot Lola on 1/80th. Sid, on the other hand...
  6. Yep, just my normal lenses - I was using the 24mm. Which is so much wider on the full frame :D I have the D300s, which will now become my back up body, I really need two bodies for weddings. ETA There was no way I'd be able to afford the D800, so I wanted to grab a D700 before they are all gone.
  7. I just can't believe how far I can push it. The detail! Eeep
  8. Today I finally, finally bought my D700. And this afternoon I experimented in the low light. I'm in love f 2.8 1/80th ISO 1600 f 2.8 1/80th ISO 1600 Cropped 100% f 2.8 1/200th ISO 1600 f 2.8 1/80th ISO 2500 f 2.8 1/80th ISO 3200
  9. Thanks all :) Here is a couple more from this afternoon:
  10. Is Camera Pro the shop in Brisbane you recommended a while ago? If so, do you have the link please Yep :D http://camerapro.net.au/ I actually emailed them this week about getting a D700, they were super fast with their response and I am able to pick it up from their showroom in the city (which is only 10 minutes from work). Yippee!
  11. Whaddya mean half? ;) It was scary. I nearly dumped the idea actually.
  12. He is very cute :D He has a bumpy footballer nose  Ten 'Cos everybody hates a tourist Especially one who thinks it's all such a laugh Yeah and the chip stains and grease Will come out in the bath...' - Pulp
  13. Good camera, lens, exposure, technique. Not shooting wide open :p Sharpening, curves boost, dodging and burning (OTT in the cats eyes).
  14. Nine 'Lay me down, I'm listening I've already seen a true romance And it don't look like that...' - Something With Numbers
  15. DWI are grey, Camera Pro are not.
  16. I know people who have been caught out with that before, that's why I asked the camera model. And thank you :) I use the 50mm 1.8 constantly. I've used the 1.4 and compared them side by side and honestly, I can't see a difference. Maybe there is a slight difference in the background, but I can't be certain. Or maybe I just have a good version, who knows?
  17. I just looked up the specs - it doesn't have an in-body focusing motor (from what I can see), so the 1.8 won't autofocus on your camera - you need af-s lenses.
  18. My guys sleep crated in the loungeroom :)
  19. Lola is Lola just because I liked it :D Sid is Sid after a character in the show 'Skins'.
  20. Eight 'Black coat White shoes Black hat Cadillac Yeah, the boy's a time bomb...'
  21. Thanks guys :) Kirislin - I really have to watch Lola's weight, because she puts it on very easily. But I'm actually trying to put a bit on Sid, he is looking a bit too ribby at the moment. I think he just burns it off though.
  22. Well, the bathroom has been a place for raunchiness of late! Yep, Sid goes all pink and spotty :D They are pretty good though (I had ham).
  23. Like nothing you've ever heard  Both my pug and my Frenchie snore, but the Frenchie is louder and deeper.
