  1. It looks sharp to me. I love my macro lens as a portrait lens.
  2. Love this pic! What lens did you use MM? Thanks! I used the 28 - 300mm (I think that's it ) on my new Nikon D700 body, it's fairly tightly cropped too :) You got it!! Do you love it?
  3. It looks fine, colour wise :) I probably would have taken it from a different angle, just for a bit of interest. What lens did you get? I'm quite intrigued by the background - where are you? You are coming up a touch yellow on my monitor, but I really like the composition.
  4. Nineteen 'If you see my fallings, See my failings through, I'm the re-run that you'll always force yourself To sit through...' - You Am I (U.S version of the clip, just to watch good old Tim Rogers. I miss this music).
  5. You might be able to turn it off, but I can't. It's second nature, I do it without thinking.
  6. Oh bless his funny little face
  7. Ohhhh Well, that's very cool. (And I had no idea you had a pug!).
  8. I had no idea you had JRTS! Very cute :D
  9. Ditto for my stuff... How do we learn if not for constructive criticism... If it is requested - then no worries :) I just don't like it when someone is showing some pics, just because, and someone barges in and starts pulling it apart.
  10. My B&Ws ;) :p They tend to be 'muddier' tones rather than the cleaner black and white. Mine are a bit warmer too, although I have an immense dislike of sepia. My usual b&w: A more traditional b&w:
  11. I totally agree with you, Snook, I wouldn't critique anyones image unless requested, but my inner photographer can't help it sometimes (but I think it, I don't type it!). I hate unsolicited critiquing I get it every now and then on Flickr ( generally about blown out skies or my use of dirty b&ws).
  12. For me it's sometimes a time thing, but often I don't really have any words (I tend to be a bit critical ). I like looking though.
  13. I saw Serena last night. She has had a lot of interest, so thank you :) Just to reiterate - she is after (at the moment) larger and less common breeds.
  14. Not me, wish I could!
  15. Don't overthink it :) There are a few good little p+s cameras around (the Panasonic lumix is my choice). Go and play with a few in the shops, but don't get hung up on mp and zoom - like snook said, it's more about optical zoom and the quality of the lens. I'd say the majority of good images you are seeing on this forum were taken by people with dslrs who have had a lot of practice. Point and shoots have their limits (like shutter lag and shooting in low light), but if you accept that and learn a little bit about using light, I'm sure you will be happy with any of the recommended models.
  16. Guys, if you have any questions, you'll need to email her. I only know she is after the less common breeds to shoot for commercial work.
  17. Quite possibly! Send her an email :)
  18. They probably won't get posted here, but will be on her fb and blog.
  19. Possibly the one she has already photographed (with Fran) :)
  20. Serena doesn't get onto DOL much anymore, as she is a busy little bee. She does need some dog models though:
  21. LOL guilty  Most people do it, then learn. Except me, anything wider than 2.8 scares the crap out of me
  22. I already have mine :)
  23. Really nice, Kritta. The third one down is very good. I adore the movement and that you've got that eye tack sharp. Lots of people buy the primes, open them up as wide as possible and then only get the nose in focus - you've used the lens very well :D
