The fifth one is my favourite too :)

That's exactly how Lola starts off, until her head goes under the surface. But she thinks she's all Pamela Anderson in Baywatch and dashes into any body of water all athletic-like. So now we swim safe.

Everyone knows Frenchie people are nuts. :p Weird. No way I would waste good coffee on a dog!

That is something we've had plenty of lately! Sun, not rain  Another couple from my session last weekend. It was so pretty! We should do another one for window lighting, that's my indoors default.

I thought we could have another backlighting challenge, after all, it was the first one that taught me how to do it! Now I use it constantly, it is my preferred method if I have a choice. It takes a bit of trial and error and a lot of getting used to. But it's lots of fun and the images always have a bit of a magical vibe. I love when you get that golden rim of light along the edge of someones hair and face. The sun needs to be relatively low for it to work and I don't like shooting wide open for this, because of chromatic aberration. Jasmine Star posted some how-to tips: http://www.jasminestarblog.com/index.cfm?postID=1456&faq-how-to-shoot-backlit You can silhouette this way too, which is fun :) Just need to stop down and increase the ss.

I can see how it would happen. I don't tend to shoot super close anyway - I like space :)

I've never had a problem with it showing too much skin detail. It's a gorgeous portrait lens. Really creamy and lovely. The background compression is so nice.

Yep: http://camerapro.net.au/nikon-micro-105mm-f28g-year-genuine-nikon-australia-warranty-stock-p-172.html I just got this lens yesterday but wasn't aware of any focusing issues with it. It surprises me that a macro lens would have issues focusing wide open. Hopefully I'll get to have a play with it today and see how it goes. I did a couple of test shots last night at f2.8 with the flash on and it was fine but really hoping it's not a hit and miss lens. Oh you got it?! That's cool. I do love it. The focus issues were known when I bought it, perhaps it's been corrected since then? I bought it around 2 years ago.

Hi CM, always lovely when you pop back in :D Yep: http://camerapro.net.au/nikon-micro-105mm-f28g-year-genuine-nikon-australia-warranty-stock-p-172.html

Yep, AF. There is no way I would use manual focus with kids  I'm Nikon. It's a known issue with the 105mm, but I bought it regardless. I just make sure I take more than usual when I'm using it - spray and pray
-
It misses focus all the time. Anything wider than f4 tends to be blurry. It seriously has a mind of its own.

Photographed a gorgeous little family on the weekend, found some lovely light Used the 105mm for this (which can be very hit and miss! Grrr! But when it hits, oh it's delicious). This poor little chicken had been sick and was still covered in light spots, so I fixed her skin up too.

No, not all dogs can swim. My pug can't, yet she dashes into the water like an iron woman. Not sure if Sid can swim or not yet, he's not a huge fan of the water.
-
Yeah, that happens to me too. Pains me. But like Kja said, anything Canon or Nikon and you can't go wrong, really. I'm Nikon, simply because I liked where the dials were on the camera.

I still suck at getting in focus images of crazy running dogs  It is quite an art.

Thirtythree 'Tell me is something eluding you sunshine? Is this not what you expected to see? If you wanna find out what's behind these cold eyes You'll just have to claw your way through this disguise...' - Pink Floyd Found a very cool version with the Foo Fighters and Roger Waters:

Every pug should have a set of wings and a bee costume. And Frenchies, well they can pull off just about anything :D

Oh god, sorry! I wasn't clear. I cloned the lead out, but I don't clone often if I can help it. I've had a lot of practice using liquify lately and it's very handy - but not for cloning
-
Liquify is super easy, just use it to push stuff in or pull it out. You probably wouldn't really use it all that much with dog images, but I do use it every now and then on people (i.e me ).
-
Oh please. This topic comes up every now and then and it is often hotly debated. As long as the dog is comfortable enough, there are worse things to worry about than shoving a dress on a dog.
-
PS for me too. Slow and steady. Dont really use content-aware because I find it usually creates more mess than it fixes. I like the patch tool though, just not for edges :)

Well, I just took it to Ollie's school disco, because I thought it would be kind of fun. Ed was playing with it (he loves it, he thinks it's his and he uses it quite well) and managed to lose the viewfinder. Not his fault, as it doesn't fit all that snugly and a quick google shows it is quite a problem. Grrr. Have emailed them for a replacement.

As you can see, the lens throws a shadow to the right when the built in flash is used. I did try some with my flash, but it was right at the end of the roll and they didn't come out.
