  1. I'm the same as Snook. Plus, the idea of someone playing with my images kinda makes me nervous ETA I don't mind a before vs after thing though.
  2. Are you shooting in RAW or jpeg, tlc?
  3. Blutack was also my friend. Now you know all my secrets  ETA Outtake
  4. A challenge exploring window light might be nice :) I was thinking today of one to teach how to do composites (as I did another one for my selfie today), but again, it's limited to people with a tripod and PS.
  5. Thank you. It ended up being a composite because I couldn't balance the cups on my head as well as have the other one in my hand
  6. Thanks, kja :) It's not cheap, so wouldn't be an impulse thing. TBH, I don't need it. I'm happy with what I've got. Was contemplating updating my 50mm 1.8 to a 1.4, but now I'm not sure. A brand new focal length would be fun...
  7. see I have that one too  Do I need it?
  8. I'm a minimalist, I only have the three primes. I've been dreaming about an 85mm 1.4 though A nice fit between the 50mm and the 105mm, I think.
  9. You always get the stunning sunsets, kja :) Thirtyfive 'We're a bull Your ears are just a china shop...' - Fall Out Boy
  10. Frenchies really aren't barkers, but I'm sure there are exceptions to rule! When they do bark, it's very muffled due to the shape of their face. Mine is far from a couch potato though! We walk 30-40kms a week, with some running intervals. He is a machine :D That said, I know many that are lazy wombats. They can be naughty puppies too - pig headed, stubborn, they like to chew anything and everything and are notoriously difficult to toilet train.
  11. Ok, I'm guessing you had to shoot wide open because of lack of light? That's fine, but I would have taken a couple of steps back (I know space can be super limited indoors though). They just all feel a bit too tight for me. But I do like space :) If indoors doesn't work, try outside. The colour is a bit off, like kja said and yep, I would have converted a few to B&W too. The angles are a bit awkward, but that could be because you are close - you are chopping lots of bits off. The Bumbo doesn't worry me at all, but I think it would be better if we could see more. I think you need to decide - am I shooting studio-ish (with a backdrop and minimal distractions) or I am shooting lifestyle/documentary (lose the backdrop and just shoot the kid in his environment)?
  12. Thanks, they are lovely. I always forget you have the 105 too!
  13. Um, wow. This is awesome. Loving that you are posting again, CM :) Another one of the Sid.
  14. So lovely, CM. What lens(es) did you use for these? They are lovely and sharp, with a great DOF :) Some more from yesterday:
  15. I love your square crops CM. I can never do them, they always look weird. I went out with the 105mm yesterday, again.
  16. A couple from yesterday...
  17. Thirtyfour 'There goes my hero Watch him as he goes There goes my hero He's ordinary...' - Foo Fighters
  18. CM, that image is amazeballs
  19. Nobody really knows why Nikon call them micro instead of macro. They are weird  The 105mm is nice, I love it - but I don't use it for macro as I am simply not interested in macro (for me, I don't mind browsing through the images of others though). Did you see Snook's recent thread? She's just bought the 105mm and is doing really well with it. They are a completely different lens to use and take a bit of getting used to! I adore it for portraits because it gives very creamy, compressed backgrounds.
  20. It's just a diffuser, really, that connects to your speedlight and around your lens. It's very flattering for people and gives that ring reflection in their eyes.
  21. I've wanted a ring flash for ages, but the only lens I would be able to use is the 105mm
  22. Thanks ladies. He told me he was hiding. God I love this lens.
  23. I thought I'd stick these in here because I do struggle with the focus on my 105mm. So inspired by Snook's efforts, I decided to practice more with this lens. The trick is to stop down and have the ss way higher than I usually would. Most of these were f5.6 and 1/640th. Token macro
