  1. My son killed an external hard drive by knocking it off my desk. So I back up to EHD and also DVDs (which have a lifespan of about 10 years). The best way to keep photos is to print them :D I get an album made every year.
  2. That's freaking gorgeous, Pheebs :) Wonderful rim light.
  3. It really looks like dust on the sensor though, I know because mine is covered right now  You can't see it when shooting wide open, only when you stop down. I had to turn my monitor brightness waaaaay up to see it though, so if you are planning on getting images printed, you might want to turn the brightness of your monitor down a bit, Pesh :)
  4. Yep. Often the people attached to the end of them are in fairy land. I think people often see them as a solution to dogs that pull on lead.
  5. I have been tripped by a retractable lead. The lady holding on was not paying any attention to her dog at all, it bolted across the path in front of me to Sid and tripped me. Horrible things. I walk my dog for exercise, not for socialisation - he doesn't need to 'talk' to other dogs. He has been attacked twice when on lead lately - the second incident was someone with a dog that didn't like us running and I nearly went arse up again when it tried to grab me. People need to pay attention to what is happening at the end of the lead.
  6. Last years (which was recently taken and watermark removed for someone's blog. Grr): And this years:
  7. Film is processed, digital images are processed. It can be overdone, just like film. It's all about personal taste, I guess. All my images have been processed. I wouldn't not process them.
  8. Yep. And I honestly thought that would be obvious. Apparently not to some.
  9. Yeah, the video is great because it shows how keen she is to jump on the board. I wasn't close enough to get that on the day. I think I'm in love! Um, yeah. The view wasn't unpleasant :D Not sure who he is, but in almost every shot I have, he is laughing - it's gorgeous to see.
  10. If Sid is put on quality dry food, he can eat 3 cups a day and maintain his weight (which is about 12kgs). He eats nearly three times as much as my pug to maintain his weight. Some dogs just need more.
  11. There is a bit of video footage here http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=_SoUboeHQDU Not from yesterday, but one of the dogs from yesterday.
  12. Mine are both really into the water, but need to be life jacketed up
  13. Yesterday I went to check out the surfing dogs, which was the opener for the Noosa Festival of Surfing. It was really cool to see. I was interested to find out if the dogs actually enjoyed it, or it was just a promotional stunt. They really did seem to enjoy themselves though and were super keen to get into the water. It was lovely to see such a huge crowd cheering them on and everyone enjoying being out with their dogs. Sorry, I have heaps of photos
  14. I would just take more cards. Do you really need RAW + jpeg? Just for space reasons. If I had to take one lens, it would be the 50mm, it takes up no space - but I'm not sure what you have. Also, you have to consider what you will be taking pics of. I would take all my lenses (24, 50, 85 and 105), but they aren't big zooms, so I can get away with it. I always take my camera and lenses on as hand luggage. I have a Kelly Moore backpack/satchel that I use now.
  15. You're doing so well, tlc. I've had a fair bit of proper work on, so I don't let myself do personal work while I have client work to get through. Plus, the weather has been horrendous, so I have missed a bit. Will have to have a catch up with some cheating
  16. Oh, not Charlie You poor things. Run free little man.
  17. Well done, tlc. I am falling behind! Need to play catch up.
  18. Maybe it's where I live, maybe it's because I have kids of my own, maybe I'm just lucky - but I have never really had an issue with kids and my dogs. Sid gets walked twice a day (and I live in a tourist town, so it gets crazy busy) and most people with kids are super polite and will ask to pat him.
  19. Frenchies are such funny little things. They can be headstrong, but Sid is quite trainable. He is food motivated, but more than that, he just likes to please. How old is your girl? Sid has really settled since hitting the 2 year mark. He was trained by the camera more than anything else So his sit, stay, wait and come commands are pretty decent - even under distraction. My pug isn't too bad either. It can be done.
  20. That sky is amazing!! Huga - I love love love Day 72! Thanks Wags :) My gorgeous SIL - the early start was worth it!
  21. Yeah, it's in Off Topic. That is really nice work :) I only have a couple of smallish ones:
