PB does something weird to files.

Yes, I sell them to clients  I have also sold some to Getty, but am yet to make anything out of that. I have a pile of paperwork to do for some more that they have requested. I've never had much success with Redbubble etc, but keep stuff on there so I can get cards etc for myself.

I agree. They are a smelly kind of dog. Most people disagree with me when I say that but to me they have a strong dog odour when in comparison to many other breeds. This is the first time in a long while that i have witnessed someone who thinks the same. They are definitely a doggy smelling dog. They have a slightly oily, almost waterproof coat (well, Lola does). I have noticed it way more since getting Sid. He dries in two minutes, she takes two hours. And I agree on the bed thing - you can never get rid of the hair. ETA I will stick to short, single coated breeds. Mum has a MS, and even though he doesn't shed, she spends a fair bit of time maintaining his coat and he drags twigs and leaves etc into the house on his feathery bits.

I will never have another pug for the same reason - it is like labrador coat and they do get that doggy smell. Sid doesn't drop much coat at all, it's a single coat and he never gets doggy.

My Pug and Frenchie are brilliant with my boys (4 and 6), but they do know how to act appropriately (both parties). Pugs are a bit smaller and more fragile, Frenchies are a bit bulkier and more rough and tumble. Actually, my Frenchie is very much my youngest son's dog (son was just 2 when we bought Sid home). This one shows tolerance levels  And size differences: And the boys together: I think as the others have said, it depends on the individuals of the breed (and the kid!). I grew up with Golden Retrievers and they were amazing with us.

Oh oh! Need both!

Can't wait :D

Ta :) I have booked my flights and accom for September, so will be down in Melbourne for Nationals :D So excited! Wedding is on now.
-
I'm entering QLD :) That gets judged next weekend and I will try and watch it in person (it doesn't get livestreamed). They are actually recorded, so are there if you want to watch them. I think wedding is on today.

Ok, landscape over. Ten minute break before Illustrative.

If you're into this sort of thing :) Currently judging landscape. Room 1 http://new.livestream.com/lsa/aippnswact1 Room 2 http://new.livestream.com/lsa/aippnswact2

Glad to hear he is ok now. My girl had a seizure on Friday night, it went on for a few minutes, but she was throwing her head back rather than bobbing it up and down. She was also trying to stand, but had no control of her legs and was falling down. It's horrible to see. The vet seems to think hers was a hypoxic seizure, as she was asleep when it happened (so she'd stopped breathing). What I did learn is that seizures aren't uncommon and vets will often struggle to find the reason for them. My vet compared it to a computer rebooting.

Yes, exactly. Well, for APPA anyway. If you use textures, they have to be ones you've created yourself etc. One photographer who was always a big advocate of Nik was Kelly Munce (who unfortunately has closed her doors). She has some stunning work.

Yeah, you can edit anyway you like, within the rules (eg some categories like Doco only allow really basic editing - no cloning or composites). Hell, there are even businesses that provide awards editing as a service.

I honestly don't know how it works with LR, because I use it in PS (because it can be used with layer masks, so more control). But it's a plug-in, so I use it within PS - it comes under the filters menu. I've actually been using the trial again because I am finalising my QPPA entries and it is great for getting that tonal contrasty look that the judges love. It's very polished. The Silver Efex part is awesome for B&Ws and Dfine is great for noise reduction. This is one of last years entries, but it shows the look I am talking about: This one does too:

So Google have bought Nik Software and it's now only $150! So good. I will be buying it shortly. When I looked at it a while ago, it was around $500. You can download a 15 day trial and have a play :) It works with LR and PS (I use it in PS). http://www.niksoftware.com/nikcollection/usa/intro.html

It depends on the kids too. Some kids are just little cyclones of chaos. Mine weren't/aren't and are great with the dogs. My youngest son was just two when we bought Sid home as a puppy. The crate was fantastic (and he was already crate trained, which was very helpful) to just pop him in for five minutes when I couldn't watch him. Wreckit is right, you teach both dog and kid manners.

I love my 85mm too, it's beautiful! The 50mm is a more practical length for indoors though, so that's what gets used more.
-
 Actually, Sid and Ed were together (but I used two separate images so the focal points are different). Lola is best shot on her own, otherwise Sid licks her face or tries to play with her.

Another one. Has any one else done any more lately?

First light is the most magic. Sunset is nice, but sunrise is super special :) I prefer clouds.

I got them from Doggy Treats Aus :)

Sorry, Big W isn't professional quality (although with care, I assume their prints would last a while? I've seen their books though - pretty blah). I've had two done through Blurb, but was disappointed with the paper and printing the second time around (see the horrendous blue cover that is supposed to be B&W? They blamed that on my monitor. Errr, no). Now I only print through Momento or Picpress (layflat albums, 270gsm pearl lustre paper - it's divine). Please note that I am pickier than most about this stuff.

My personal archiving system :D Actually, clients get the same system (as well as a DVD).
