  1. If I was already shooting and that happened, I would just keep shooting :) My dogs get into little scraps every now and then - they don't even touch each other, it's all noise and sounds much worse than it actually is. Hell, I have photographed them play fighting before and it looks bad. All that bitey face :)

    Help!

Skyefool, if you decide you'd like to venture into the DSLR world, I am selling my D300s + 50mm :)
  3. Just call Dogs QLD. Main was always maroon and limited was green, but I'm pretty sure that recently they have changed to be the same as the other states.
  4. Sorry about the crapness, I pulled them from FB. More here:
  5. Some images from the actual comp yesterday:
  6. Yeah it's funny how nervous a few of them look, as they are mostly old timers that couldn't wait to get out there. Sid kept going and standing on the boards that were at the waters edge, so he obviously wasn't too traumatized by the whole thing.
  7. It wasn't bad this morning, I got in there fine at 7.30am. Tomorrow afternoon when the comp is on will be the killer. Aren't they gorgeous?! They were freebies too. Ha. Really? Always evolving, I guess. The light was a pain, sun was in and out and it even rained at one point.
  8. As part of the Noosa Festival of Surfing, there is always a dog surfing demo too. Today was the practice run, before the main event tomorrow. Sid had a go at being the demo dog and totally surprised me by not jumping off the board. Ha.
  9. I have a couple of really basic point and shoots that I've picked up. Friends gave me an Olympus Trip, which I love and I also have my great grandad's Yashica. I love them, but god they are hard to grasp when you've been working with digital for a while. Very much flying blind. I picked up some expired disposable cameras a while ago too, I took one to the Color Run and the images that I got back are pretty fun. Full of grain and pretty colours :D
  10. That's awesome, it outlived my sewing machine
  11. How long have you been taking photos? I've been taking photos since I was at school. I had my first camera at the age of 12 (a polaroid from a flea market). When I left school I had to choose between art and science and I chose science. I've come back around full circle. Are you professional, amateur, artist, something else? Professional, my business was launched almost 4 years ago after second shooting for another studio for around 12 months. Do you have a main subject (portrait, pets etc)? Weddings and families, which includes pets. I volunteer my services once a week to the Sunshine Coast Animal Refuge. Do you have a favourite technique or photography set-up? (Or a few) I'm not sure how to answer this. I tend to shoot mostly documentary style, but often set up my kids and dogs. There is a bit of posing involved with weddings too. What is your learning edge at the moment? I've always shot manual. I'm always trying to use light better. Shoot better. Be better. Have more faith in my work. What equipment do you use? I'm a Nikon shooter and only use prime lenses. Any current projects? 52 weeks of B&W. Future hopes, visions and/or experiences? To keep getting paid to do what I love in a tough economic climate with a tonne of competition who are always willing to do it cheaper. A statement about what you strive for with your work: I strive for a reaction. Happy tears is a good one.
  12. This is him, CC. He was adopted within a couple of days :)
  13. Yep. My guys have a medium in their 36" crate.
  14. She looks super sweet, Kirislin :) Harry was my first. An unconventional crossbreed (before it was really a thing - he was part of an accidental litter) and such a gentle soul.
  15. It's a frankendress :D The circle skirt is from that retro butterick pattern that I think you might have? The top is a Princess seamed bodice from New Look 6723.
  16. Thank you, I made it on Friday and I am so in love with the fabric :D Here's another one I took today that shows it better:
  17. Sorry, falling behind! I have a rule about doing personal work while I still have client work to do 8/52
  18. we have those here too coogie. I call them the spandex brigade  We have them too, but I'm so used to them now I don't even notice! I was meeting clients at a cafe today and they thought there was some sort of event happening because the tables were full of lycra-clad cyclists. Nope, just a regular Sunday here
  19. Fill light has recently been renamed 'shadows' :D
  20. Yep, at least once a week :D Every Sunday we walk along the river and stop at one cafe or another (depending on how far we are walking). I usually just tie Sid up and duck in for a take away coffee though. This week I met my mum for coffee and Sid came along too. The staff were enamored and kept coming out to talk to him  He just lays down and has a snooze most of the time. I think 99% of people with dogs at cafes are really responsible - mostly I just see dogs asleep under tables. We did have one encounter with an offlead dog - there's one in every crowd, unfortunately. I think Noosa is way more dog friendly than Brisbane.
