Sid successfully covers his poo each time, which I hate - because then I have to bag up half a kg of dead leaves with it.
-
LOL. They have scent glands in their feet, Samman.
-
It takes a bit of getting used to, but I love the new sliders now.
-
It doesn't exist anymore. It's now shadows.

Pretty. Yeah mine look soft until I zoom in too.
-
Love the horse one. Did your mind get blown when you zoomed into 100%?

The wedding was right in the heart of the city - ceremony at the QLD State Library and reception at The Gallery of Modern Art. Both bride and groom are architects, so it makes sense :) We just shot around the South Bank Parklands.

You'll have to do selfies ;) Or get the horses and dogs involved? Since you've bumped this back up, I shot my first wedding with the D800 on Saturday. Used 3x16GB cards for a 6 hr wedding, instead of the usual 1 and a bit for a 12 hour wedding Still trying to get used to that. We had lots of photo time, so I probably shot more than I usually would for a shorter wedding. Anyway, pretty pleased with the first couple I pulled off: blogDSC_1487 by Katie Takes A Picture, on Flickr blog1590 by Katie Takes A Picture, on Flickr Oh and lovely Fran's e shoot (which is where I took Sid for the practice run earlier): blog0664 by Katie Takes A Picture, on Flickr blog0806 by Katie Takes A Picture, on Flickr blog0820 by Katie Takes A Picture, on Flickr blog0837 by Katie Takes A Picture, on Flickr blog0854 by Katie Takes A Picture, on Flickr blog0869 by Katie Takes A Picture, on Flickr

Missing focus is so bloody frustrating! Especially when you know it's not you! I bet they're not crap. I was disappointed with my first ones when I saw the on the back of the camera. The RAW files look different and the WB is different to the D700 too.

Hooray! Do you think you could download the LR 30 day trial? Also, I don't use the active D lighting and I have no idea about viewing in B&W. I tend to work so fast that it probably wouldn't be viable for me anyway. Can't wait to see your first pics!

Oh yeah - that sucks! I should have mentioned it! That's the reason I upgraded to CC a while ago.

Yep, my pug Lola was diagnosed with it at 6 months. She had her femoral head removed and recovered relatively easily. She's 10 now, has always had a bit of a skip on that leg and is also feeling it a bit more with age.
-
Oh wow - you are going to be blown away! You're still on DX aren't you? I wish I could be there when you see your images for the first time :D Another thing I've noticed - I don't sharpen my RAW images anymore.

I'm cheating this week and using one I shot over the weekend, because I'm absolutely snowed under with work. (Plus, she's a DOLer). 17/52

Things To Do With Dogs - Sunshine Coast Qld
huga replied to colliehound's topic in General Dog Discussion
There is a massive stretch of Beach that runs between sunrise beach down to peregian - all off lead. Dogs onlead are welcome at the Eumundi Markets and by May the weather should be cooler :) If you want to head in closer to noosa, they can't be on the beach at noosa heads (hastings st), but there is an excellent, calm Beach at the very end of Hastings St (the spit). Well behaved dogs are also welcome at a few of the cafes along there. -
Hank does this, except with frenchies! It's like he thinks they're all Odie clones  I guess the flat faces are really recognisable too :) So cute.
-
Is it Nikon or Canon you're shooting? Because I can tell you the Nikon 1.8G is on my camera 90% of the time.
-
Sid doesn't love other Frenchies as much as he loves seeing Pugs. He drags me to them and I think it's because he thinks they're all Lola. He does the same with black mini schnauzers (my parents have one and he loves him).
-
I've been shot down for this in the past, but I have tested the Nikon versions side by side and can't tell the difference. Obviously the 1.4 goes one stop further, but since I never shoot beyond f2.5 (generally 2.8-4), this isn't a problem.

Some people have the ability to take horrendous photos with a fancy DSLR. Some people take amazing shots with their phones. It all depends on how far you push that little machine and how much you are asking of it under certain conditions. Moving creatures + low light = lots of cameras will struggle Moving creatures + lots of light = better chance of something in focus and without blur I have a little Olympus Tough. It's brilliant. But I've only ever used it outside with lots of light, I've never bothered using it indoors at all. I know how far I can push it. I hope that makes sense! :)

Oh and on Wednesday I shot the refuge animals in jpeg for the very first. God, I was apprehensive  There is a bit of a difference in the colour and highlights, but not enough for me to worry about.
-
RAW files: 40-45MB JPEGS: 4-6MB I actually played with another photographers D600 (she has two and loves them), but it was just so different to what I was used to!
-
They are amazing!

Gah. I know exactly how you feel because that's what the D700 does now. Yesterday when I was out, shooting into the sun (which is tough on the focus), the camera kept finding the focus far too quickly  I was positive it was going to be off - but it wasn't! Hooray! The other thing that floored me was that it focused on Sid running towards me - something that has been nearly impossible for a while now. I know, it's expensive. I've been saving for a while now.
