  1. True. It would be good to have each states regulations/rules as a sticky, maybe in General dog discussion.
  2. Excellent news, I'm so happy for Ellie. Fostering with a view to adopt is fantastic!!!
  3. Does anyone know each individual state laws? (besides NSW)
  4. I agree with you. Selling (or more to the point, buying) a 4 week old pup is downright idiotic. I wasn't targeting your posts and appologise if it appeared that way. No, its all good. I stuffed up anyway saying it was illegal.
  5. Okay, so it's a guideline for ANKC registered breeders. Obviously they have guidlines for a reason. I would imagine that selling a 4 week old puppy (which is what I was replying to) was unethical, and downright stupid. Obviously anyone that sells a 4 week old pup has no ethics.
  6. I hope your reported the guy? No use carrying on about it unless you actually report him. It is illegal to sell pups under 8 weeks old.
  7. Why train him to walk offlead when it is illegal? There is no guarantee your dog won't run across the road, and get killed, or worse still, cause an accident. Keep him on the lead like everyone else has to please, for his safety and everyone elses.
  8. Have you/are you planning on taking your pup to the vet? I would be concerned, his feet don't look normal.
  9. Sorry it was time for Charlie to cross the bridge. Run free Charlie
  10. I'm so sorry Griff. Run free Ryan.
  11. And just to throw a downer on all the good advice, I would only buy from a breeder who comes recommended. Some registered breeders are better than others, the trick is finding the right one.
  12. Here is a link to the supplement that people have had great results with. LINK TO CALM
  13. Thundershirt is one option (you can try wrapping a tshirt or something similar firmly around her chest/under front legs to give you an idea if it will comfort her) I've also heard good things about CALM, a supplement you give with their food daily....made by PetArk, and K9 Pro sell it online. Quite reasonable cost, around $10 a month for a medium dog given daily.
  14. I'm so glad I have smooth coated dogs.
  15. Safest option, you could do all the overhangs and he might start to dig. It sounds like he just likes human company. I have an adopted dog who was a serial escape artist, he went through 2 homes before he came to me. When he escaped his previous homes, it was because he was outside by himself (or in one case with another dog outside) and he ended up at the nearest public place where there was people. (supermarket, school, shop etc) Luckily, I'm at home during the day, and he's in with me, he only goes out for a pee or to lay in the sun for a bit, or when I'm outside he comes with me. The few times I left him outside when I went out, he knicked off and came looking for me. Luckily he was found. I learnt my lesson, I got a dog run and the dogs are in it when Im out, or on the covered verandah on separate 4 foot leads for short trips. I've had him for 8 years now, hasn't escaped for 7 and a half. :D
  16. I'm so sorry to hear about Gillie, that is a beautiful tribute. Run free Gillie.
  17. Yep, good advice. :D While I understand you are upset, you really need to toughen up a little, if only for the sake of your dog. It won't be good for the dog to see you so upset, as you will only upset the dog. (as you said above, you cried, he cried). He will be fine, he's in the best hands at the vet.
  18. Reward Offered isn't as much of an incentive to people who may know something. Maybe " Large Reward for info leading to her return" or similar wording might help.

Maybe start up another thread instead of derailing this one. :D
  20. Poor wildlife! Cats are very efficent hunters, and eill kill anything that moves for the thrill of it. Keep your cat(s)inside, or in an outdoor enclosure/cat run or both. They live longer, and the local wildlife will be safe. I don't believe in letting cats roam to kill other animals, and please get him desexed in case he decides to impregnate a female and adds to the ever growing litters of kittens, many of which are put to sleep because there isnt enough homes.

was the good authority personally there and are they qualified to make such comments? they took eye witness statements, so yes So if the dog was just excitable, why did the guy who came to help have to belt it with a wrench? And then (according to his interview which I saw on tv) have to choke/ strangle the dog to get it off the child?
  22. Should be easy enough to prosecute the people, who on earth thought sending kittens by courier was in any way acceptable! Morons! I'm surprised the courier didn't hear them meowing/moving when he picked up the package.
