And $680 for a rescue dog? -
That's what I thought as well Perse, reacting to the goings on...earlier media reports say he was bitten in the water, now saying when he was on the bank running away. And the owners are saying the dog was trying to save the boy, but if that was the case, he would have only attacked the mother, still haven't heard why the dog was loose though, so I'm not quite buying the owners version of events just yet. Agree the boy will be scarred (mentally & physically) for life.

Probably because of conflicting media reports, mainly ones that say the boy was attacked when he was trying to escape from his mother and got bitten in the process. Badly enough to require surgery. Not sure why the dog was loose though, I'll wait till more of the story comes out before I sign anything. Terrible tragedy all round.

Can't advise on the teeth thing from experience, but my thoughts are if one has snapped I'd imagine that the adult tooth will still come through okay, but I'd probably see the vet to be sure. And what a gorgeous girl you have! She is beautiful, you must get stopped wherever you go!

What would you do? (Found a dog)
Animal House replied to Scrappi&Monty's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
I think you did great, most vets will scan the dog for a microchip and if no chip will deal with the pound. If I'd lost a dog, the pound is the first place I'd ring, plus local vets, then probably look on Facebook as well. Can you do a post on the local FB buy, swap and sell, or the (local) FB lost dogs page as well Scrappi & Monti? -
Some great pics there CT, it's certainly interesting (and scary n sad) to see the security measures they have to take.

UPDATED 22/3/17 in my later post Poor dogs, these stories sicken me. Some (potentially) distressing photos of malnourished dogs in the link, so I've put the news article (no pics) below as well if you don't want to click on the link. Story here ABC News *WARNING - DISTRESSING PICS Malnourished and injured dogs have been seized from an alleged puppy farm near Goondiwindi, with police and the RSPCA finding nearly 100 animals at the Glenarbon property. Police said two dogs required emergency treatment at the property on Bosjnack Road. In a statement, the RSPCA said the seized dogs were mainly American Staffordshire bull terriers, Australian and American bulldogs, French bulldogs and pitbulls. It said 81 dogs and puppies and 10 cats were seized from the property and had been moved to the RSPCA's Animal Welfare Campus in Wacol for treatment and care. RSPCA Queensland chief inspector Daniel Young said the conditions the dogs and cats were being kept in "were very disturbing". "There was inadequate shelter and water and a number of the dogs were carrying injuries that needed urgent veterinary treatment," he said. "There was one dog that was sharing a small space with a dog that was deceased and there were the remains of a number of corpses lying near dogs that were tethered. "We'd like to sincerely thank Queensland Police for their invaluable assistance in this operation." A 40-year-old man is assisting police and the RSPCA with their inquiries. The man is to appear in Goondiwindi Magistrates Court in relation to other matters. Investigations are continuing and police would like to speak to anyone who may have purchased an animal from the property in the past.
