Vets All Natural Complete Mix
Prydenjoy replied to Prydenjoy's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Great, I'm glad to hear I didn't waste my money on a useless product! Hope my doggies do as well on it as most of the others, I'm sure they will. I don't think they'll have weight issues as Berri is very active and Mango is a growing pup. The kitten is another story though, she's only 4 months old and already fat!! Was thinking of adding it to roo or turkey mince for her though. Those who feed it, do you alternate with bones, or just feed it on its own? I know it has calcium added. What about offal? -
Oops triple post
-
Thanks Deb I called the show queries number and the lady told me to put my details as I'll be sending off the papers to transfer her into my name on Monday, so it's all sorted
-
And whose member number do I put? I have one form that the breeder filled in for me to copy, but the rest are blank. The breeder is 5 hours away so I can't get her to sign it! ETA One more quick question, I do a seperate entry for sweepstakes, but where do I write it in? Where I normally write the breed class, or next to where it says special class, or somewhere else?
-
What do I do if I'm entering my baby puppy under the breeders name in the section calling for a signature - Do I just put my signature?? Thanks! Also, will it say in the ad if there is a neuter class? I'd like to enter Berri in a few just for fun

Vets All Natural Complete Mix
Prydenjoy replied to Prydenjoy's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Thanks spottychick, that was the kind of answer I was looking for - to see if it would COMPLIMENT an already raw diet. I know a lot of people are anti grain, but for some reason I have always found my dogs to thrive on a raw diet with a bit of grain, now that I'm buying the pre mix patties there is no grain in them so it will be good to offer something in addition to what they are already getting with a little grain to see how they go. -
I've just ordered some Vets All Natural complete mix for my dogs and cat and am wondering if anyone has tried this and what they thought of it? I had a little sample of it when I got Montie 6 years ago and haven't used it since, but thought it would be good to add a little more variety to their diet. They are currently getting Canine Country BARF patties every second day, and chicken wings every other day. In addition Mango gets an extra 2 meals of Royal Canin puppy each day (so I only have to defrost one lot of food a day!). I was thinking of giving the Vets All Natural once or twice a week in place of the BARF patties.

Training And Other "newbie" Questions
Prydenjoy replied to Prydenjoy's topic in General Dog Discussion
Yes I have a little Pap pup who I will be showing. We don't have showcraft classes here. There are a few people at the dog club who show their dogs though so I might ask them if they'd be happy to help. Not sure how they go in the shows though!! Is clipping nails necessary even if they are short? I was trying to get her used to having her nails clipped the other day and cut the quick on the second nail! I never cut Berri's nails and they are always short anyway from daily walks. Can I just skip that bit? I hate clipping nails. -
OK so I'm all set to send off my entries for the Armidale Dog Show, but now I need to know what I need to do to prepare! I haven't shown for about 5 years, and even when I did show in the past I was always a hopeless handler anyway! So what should I be doing? She's 11 weeks old now. Is there training I should do above and beyond just having her used to the lead? Should she be on a loose lead or a tight lead in the ring? I always used to aim for a loose lead, but the dogs that did well always seemed to be on a tight lead. Can you bring treats into the ring? Is it a good idea to let them nibble at a treat while the judge looks at them as a pup? Should I bath her before the show? Fluff her up? Paint her nails?? (jk) I'm very excited to say the least!

Great news, I managed to find my old book of entry forms! Still got half a book there
-
Thanks Ashley, it will have to do I guess. It's just for the sweepstakes so I guess if they don't accept them we just wont go in the sweepstakes. I think I know who the secretary is anyway, if it is who I think I'm sure she'll go easy on me...
-
The software isn't working, I click the green arrow to go to the next bit and it just beeps at me. I've got 3 entry forms, but need 3 more for sweepstakes - Entries close today! I'll be calling the secretary but that doesn't solve my entry form shortage.
-
The seeds are very high in nutrients but hard to blend. I'd be leaving them in.
-
Thanks dancin, I had a look, they do look nice. It'll definitely be on my list of things to buy once I get over buying a pup, soft crate, etc!
-
Cool cool, I had my doubts when I bought it but I'd already been to the only pet shop in town and they had nothing remotely suitable there... I should have shopped online! Oh well I guess as with everything in life you waste a lot of money before you find what you're actually looking for!
-
Thanks for all of the tips, so much to try to remember!! The one I have is a "PetLife" one that I picked up from Big W, I think it was the most expensive there, pin on one side, bristle on the other. Would this kind of bristle be sufficient? My biggest problem is that the bristles only run across the top of the fur, they don't actually get right into the fur and brush it properly... Though I guess that is what the pin side is for? It seems to do the job fine, maybe one of those expensive ones would make a good chrissy present for them
-
Thanks, a bit confusing but I'll try to work it out when I have a moment. Anything that saves time is most valuable to me!!
-
Sounds like a good idea Ellz. That would be great, thanks heaps Warley
-
Never heard of/seen them before. They sound great, I may just be tempted to buy one if I ever come across one, if they come in Pap size! I feel like I'm getting a bit of a brush collection up now though...
-
Thanks, she is adorable isn't she, sooo kissable! Does anyone have the direct link to the Dogs NSW website to buy the entry forms? I can't seem to find them, looking in the forms section they're not there and I don't know where else they'd be.

Thanks SBT - Just got an email from the breeder, she is filling one out as a template so I know what I'm doing, and sending a few more for me to fill in. Pappylove, would that be in the Dog Breeds 101 section? I posted in the Papillon thread there a while ago but no response. She is a beautiful sable bitch (as you can see in youtube) from Flutterwings. Her temperament so far is outstanding, she's very friendly and outgoing, and full of beans. Just what I like to see in a pup! I have great hopes for her, in obedience, agility, the show ring and of course, as a family pet
-
Hello BarBell, I haven't ever competed in agility. My older Pap (2 years old) is just starting agility, I'm getting him vet checked on Monday just to be sure that he doesn't have any hip/patella problems before doing anything more strenuous with him. I did opt for another Pap though, tempting as a Sheltie was, the right pup was offered to me at the right time and I couldn't resist - sometimes it's good to stick with what you already know and love anyway I'm keen to start trialling though, in obedience and in agility

Satin Balls And Wheat Germ And Grain Intolerance
Prydenjoy replied to Fudo's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
From Pet Deli there is a brand of BARF called something like Canine Country, they have a duck blend which is high fat, and some other high fat varietys. If you gave an EXTRA meal per day with one of these patties, alternating with a chicken wing every other day, it would be sure to put on some weight, and be healthy and balanced at the same time. -
A Pap, of course :D Here she is on her second day home Thanks Oakway, I'll contact the breeder. The entries close soon!!
