  1. Hiya Darkrai, According to the paper Hereditary Evaluation of Multiple Developmental Abnormalities in the Havanese Dog Breed Alison N. Starr , Thomas R. Famula , Nathan J. Markward , Joanne V. Baldwin , Karon D. Fowler , Diane E. Klumb , Nancy L. Simpson , and Keith E. Murphy chrondodysplasia is the most common anomaly in Havanese. The paper also cites liver shunt, cataracts, heart murmurs and missing incisors as other heritable problems in the breed. We also know that Havanese can be affected with PRA, sebacious adenitis and luxating patella. I dont know of any Havanese in Australia with liver shunt, cataracts, heart murmurs or PRA. The OFA site in the US has statistics on many breeds, including Havanese http://www.offa.org/

  5. Hey guys, I have some news ...... MAGIC GOT BEST IN GROUP TODAY I am smiling so much in the photo with the judge that my eyes are squashed to slits He was shortlisted in the final three for BIS, but missed out. BIS was a gordon setter, RUBIS was a dobe. Interestingly, the three shortlisted for BIS are all black and tan dogs
  6. Hi Cosmolo, If it were me, I would seriously consider surgery. He is a young dog, and if he lives till (say) 10 yrs old, he will go through 12 months of frustration to have 7 quality years. I'd also get two ops at once, to reduce the amount of time he needs to be kept quiet, so maybe both front legs, then both rear legs. Gail
  7. Hi Bec, I have the same issues with Magic. I even used nutrigel to try and get some weight on him, but it didn't help much. the best i can suggest is walks to increase his appetite, and feed him what he likes to increase the chance he will eat more of it.
  8. Liberty make tables in three heights: 60cm, 75cm & 85cm http://www.libertyinternational.com.au/tables.html Liberty are an Australian company, and they make them to order
  9. Congrats Angelsun!!! I often see you at shows, but have yet to muster the courage to introduce myself
  10. Keep in mind that in some US communities, their yards are metres deep in snow and winter temperatures are truely freezing. We don't lose dogs to bears and coyotes here either. Just because some Americans seem to be paranoid about dog safety doesn't mean they don't have good cause to be! Aren't there also areas in the US where houses dont have fencing ( a friend from - I think this is right - upstate new york?) said there was no fencing there. So in this situation, I can understand why they would not think it safe to leave dogs unattended outside.
  11. :D :D What about this one? Who is this BL? (I cant remember the rest of the pups from that litter)
  12. Home and wet gear in the trailer waiting to be dried tomorrow ..... I got two BOBs, two RUBOBs and a Junior In Group over the weekend, so not a bad show . It was Elle's first shows after turning 1 yr old and she got 21 points so only 4 to go  . Too quick LOL!! Sway, how's your tail doing today?
