Update On Ruby After Splenectomy - Cancer
BittyMooPeeb replied to Dog_Horse_Girl's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Glad to hear that Ruby is home LM! Fingers crossed here that test results are good How did they discover the cancerous mass? Did pre-op blood tests show something up? Gail -
This came up in another thread recently, and a breeder argued (convincingly IMO) that they sell many of their pups for below cost, and recoup some of the money on the pups that are more popular (whether it be colour, coat etc). If this is the case then I dont see a problem.

great advice here Another thing to look at is what you are doing when the pup wees inside. General advice is to make distracting noises as soon as you seem him start to wee (I quickly say no no no no no in a loud, high pitched but not unfriendly voice) and take the pup outside. In a short time he will understand that 'no no no' means go outside to do the wee, and you can shepherd him rather than carry him. In time this will lead to him going outside by himself. So ... the important rule here is to take him outside for a wee when he has wee-d inside, to teach him that all of his wees (yes, even the second one ) have to be done outside. The high pitched, loud speaking is to distract him so that he stops weeing until you get him outside. My youngest dog was like this when he was a pup. Even now (at 14 months) when I take the dogs out for their bedtime wee, he sometimes comes back in then realises he wants to go again and has to be let outside for a second time!

Toddler Attacked By Dog In Hair Salon
BittyMooPeeb replied to The Spotted Devil's topic in In The News
Everyone (cept me ) seems to be missing the point here, and that is that the media deliberately and grossly exaggerated what happened, and printed a report of an incident with no evidence. A split lip is NOT "serious facial injuries": The 22-month-old girl suffered serious facial injuries after she approached the husky inside the salon, near Chapel Street's Jam Factory, around 10.20am. (The age) There does not appear to be ANY evidence that the child was attacked by the dog, and there is no evidence that the child was bitten: Ambulance officers were called to Ghassan Hair Style near the Jam Factory in South Yarra at 10.20am, after the salon owner’s pet dog attacked the 20-month-old girl , biting the infant on the face . (the Herald Sun) Plus the Herald Sun posted a picture of the dog's owner with the caption: Unpopular: The owner of the husky that attacked a toddler on Chapel St, Ghassan Saouda. Source: Herald Sun What a biased, emotive statement!! If I was the owner of the Salon I would be suing the arse off The Age and Herald Sun! God help any dog that happens to be lying around near to where a child falls over . What next? A toddler falls over next to me in a shopping centre and I am arrested for assault??? -
Thanks for the reminder Capanash .... the deadline comes on so quickly!

Toddler Attacked By Dog In Hair Salon
BittyMooPeeb replied to The Spotted Devil's topic in In The News
Since when is a hairdressing salon an appropriate place for a dog to eat? Agreed But also, since when is a hairdressing salon an appropirate place for a child to wander around? It gives me the irrits when people treat a business as their personal child minders. This could have just as easily happened in the street, or in someones house if a toddler is allowed to run around unsupervised. Dotn you love how the media exaggerate . A cut lip descibed as "serious facial injuries". I'm sure they just make up most of what they write -
OMG! and to think that somebody wanted one for their handbag! It's a good thing us consoomers have got the RSPAADTA to look out for us. Looks like that Deshonko Kennels person has done the too .... Souff Yes, you have to hand it to the Royal Society for the Prevention of Anything at All To Do with Animals - they definately have their the animals best interests at heart.
-
Oh, how did that happen :D Hey, how much do you reckon the RSPAADTA would want for one of the seized Jungle Rockwheelers then? I am sorry Souff, but the Jungle Rockwheeler has been declared a dangerous dog and will not be rehomed by the RSPAADTA . They cite it's 'evil eye', sharp, pointy teeth and obvious attempts at camouflage as all the evidence they need to slap on the DD label
-
Dear peoples, I am afraid that you have been HAD :D . The RSPAADTA raided Poodlefan's place yesterday to find she has flown the coop . They were able to recover most of her breeding stock though, and (because they need the money to prosecute non-dog-walkers) are offering the dogs to the highest bidders. First up is 'Finnegan'. Finnegan is a Walrushuahua (with Merkin heritage), and is a proven sire, having over 200,000 pups in homes at the moment . Reserve is $100,000 Deshonki had (before owner PF fled the country) discovered ways of selling dogs at a very young age - even before they are born! Introducing 'Feet-us', who is negative three (-3) weeks old and ready to go to his new home now! Reserver $99.90 'Fuhnky' is the kennels brood bitch for the Catdog breed. Her breeding is patented and we are not allowed to reveal her secrets, hence the bag. POA (think 10 figures) 'Cherry' is (we are told) a cool climate pet, and best kept in refrigerated kennels. 'Cherry' doesnt look like a typical dog and some may think this is a disadvantage, but careful breeding by Deshonki has produced a calm, non-aggressive family pet tested **COMPLETELY FREE** of PRA, hip and elbow dysplasia, luxating patella and cataracts . (We have many of Cherry's litter siblings for sale too - $19.95 each, maximum of 100 per order)

I got mine from Clean Run HERE
-
Hi Showdog I have had a look at them and they are different. They are sort of like cotton string with a bit of silver metal thread through, unlike the ones from Clean Run which are all metal. After looking at the great rugs ones, I decided against buying them, as I cant see how they would work anywhere near as well as the all-metal ones that I have. I was talking to a show friend about this, and she said the Great Rugs walls she had seen had plenty of metal reflective surface in them. She also thought that there were two types being sold - one called heavy duty, and one not. So maybe the ones I saw were the lighter ones ;). I am so happy with mine that I would still get my next one from the states
-
A friend and I just got some from the US through Ebay I got 1 10 foot X 20 foot cost me $155.00 and that includes everything. Better than here , we had it in a week or so Yes did hear that you can get them from USA alot cheaper, a friend has just ordered some, but she had to get the toggles from the UK !!! Seems silly to me but there you go !!! Another friend has one that she got while in the USA on holidays and it is the same as mine but bigger , so shop around but they are really good !! Toggles are available in Bunnings. They are pretty cheap. I think they were in the Auto section. I also use plastic clamps that I also got from bunnings for $1 each ;) ETA: the ones in Bunnings look like this, except black: The clamps look like this:
