Wow!! What a great prize . Since I started showing (just under a year ago): I have received a lot of lovely padded mats for crates as prizes for class in group. They were made especially as prizes, and are the best dog beds/mats that I have. I have also had thermos brand coolers (BIS prize), and other cool bags - great for using at shows (especially the one designed to take a bottle of wine ) (Canberra Toy Dog club shows) I got a really nice, japanese themed platter at Yass Ag show for class in group. And a lovely, german made, Xmas themed 'treats' bowl for BOB at the 4P's. A great soft-crate for BOB at Melb Royal, and a HUGE bag of dog food for PIG at the same show. Spring Fair was great too - 'Advance' cups (again - great for using at shows) and dog food. Other shows have given towel/face washer/soap sets which I again use at shows Actually, I have done extremely well with prizes ETA: I forgot to add teh lovely engraved clock we won for PIG at the Melb Royal

Why Don't People Pick Up After Their Dogs At Shows?
BittyMooPeeb replied to TessnSean's topic in General Dog Discussion
Ceilidh i used to do this for the setters but for the OES i'd be spending all day putting the dog in bands LOL My dog is a bit uncoordinated. Even if I tie up his side feathering, he still gets wee on his feet and on the inside of his legs. Small dogs are hard - the weeing equipment is very close to most other parts of the body . Boys will - on the whole - still wee while wearing a belly band initially. Some soon realise they are not having any marking effect and stop (after a couple of days). Others keep on weeing regardless . Most people put something absorbent and disposable inside the belly band to save washing them every time the dogs marks or wees. B&W brand sanitary pads are good for this -

Hi Aziah, I typed a reply and then decided against it, so that this thread can get back to the REAL culprits ... those who dont pick up poo. -
Why Don't People Pick Up After Their Dogs At Shows?

Yes, I did see the suggestions - thanks for those. I promise I that if I use tyres in future they will be my own tyres . As long as Rebanne isn't in the carpark with a bucket of water. ETA: I should point out that I now use a belly band (and have for a few months). So he thinks he is lifting his leg but it all goes into the band. I have had many show people tell me this is the wrong thing to do as well (because it is cruel was one reason, another said he should be allowed to wee normally - sometimes one just cant win). He has lifted his leg from a very early age (10 weeks I think). Having not had a show dog before, I didnt know it would be convenient to teach him to squat. If you see a strange looking dog wearing a crocheted snood and a tartan belly band, that is us -
Bidding Madness Riles Locals At Blacktown Pound
BittyMooPeeb replied to Steve's topic in In The News
The tender system is a PITA for rescuers as well. To rescue a dog from Blacktown, the rescue group has to put the minimum bid on the dog, and hope that if a member of the public wants the dog they will put higher than the minimum on. If the dog then goes to rescue, the rescue group has to pay that minimum charge, and from memory you don't get anything for it except the dog. It would be so much simpler if they just let rescue put their name on a dog and it goes to them if due to be euthanased (which is what most pounds do) For this reason we didn't often get dogs out of Blacktown pound - it was too hard! This might be why they have (apparently) high kill rates as they are not able to go outside their tender system to work with rescue. Plus it would also put off public purchasers. And of course I agree with everyone that compulsory desexing would solve any problem of BYBs getting the dogs. -

OMGawd, so many uptight people . You all would have loved the thread a year or two ago on rubbish bins. I don't mind if people put rubbish in my bin, and I put rubbish in other peoples bins. I got flamed for that too . I bet you all used to get furious if someone drank from your outside tap, BEFORE we had to pay for water usage :D . Here are some pics : This dog would definately be able to reach the rims HORROR in the streets A statue: And for those of you who think it is acceptable to assault a dog that wees on your tyre (ETA I see most people are ignoring the questions I posed - double standards??) -
Why Don't People Pick Up After Their Dogs At Shows?

Seriously, you had no idea that people don't like dogs using their personal property as a toilet How very 90's! What about when your dog goes to the loo in a public place (ie a dog club) or on a nature strip. Someone *owns* that grass or that post you know, so you are letting your pet defecate on their personal property This thread cracks me up My dog weed on a bush on a nature strip once. The owner of the nearest house came out screaming abuse at me. I thought he was a lone nutter, but obviously others feel the same. -

Do you like your car tyres to smell like dog piss? I know I don't! Don't be silly Miss B - apparently you can't smell it and you never touch your car wheels anyway I suspect BMP is taking the piss slightly Tyres not wheels! Your tyres have been on the road, exposed to road-kill, phlegm, vomit, cigarette butts and all sorts of other nasties. Geez the bottom of your shoe gets covered in wee and poo residue from a show, and you take that into your house and rub it all over your carpet. And then let your children sit on the carpet! I think dog wee on a tyre is the least of anyones worries . -
That is Sarge Sarge = Legend x 2 A funny story ... I had brunch at a friends place. I didn't know the other guests but had a great time. After the other guests left, friend and I continued to chat (for hours LOL). The subject of stewards came up and I described my favourite steward (the one with the cowboy hat that is tough but fair and not averse to playing a joke on a competitor). Turns out that this is 'Sarge' and I had been sitting opposite him earlier in the day at brunch ;) . I didn't recognise him without his hat

Cats In The Reception Area Of The Vets
BittyMooPeeb replied to ruthless's topic in General Dog Discussion
The "patient" cats should be in cages or secured some how. Theres a big difference between that and one roaming freely. The patient dogs are supposed to be under control too, so *technically* there is not supposed be a problem. If you have a dog that doesn't like other animals (of whatever type) why not leave him/her in the car until you are called? Or pop in to tell the vet you are there and wait outside with your dog. In most places you can also ask to use a 'back' entrance if you don't want to walk through the waiting room. Vets often have a consult room free, so you can also often also ask to wait in the consult room. Remember that cats have emergencies too, and someone picking up an injured cat and taking it to the vet might not have access to a crate. My old vets had two resident cats. The dogs that didn't tolerate small animals usually waited outside on the verandah with their owners, or in the consult room. I've had to use the back entrance/wait in the car option many times with fosters who were straight out of the pound (when I didnt want to risk exposing dogs in the waiting room to anything the unvaccinated poundy might have) so there are plenty of people for whom the waiting room is not suitable. If you are one of them, the easiest option is just to not use it! -

I enjoy a good chat Seriously, I had no idea that people would not like dogs weeing on their tyres . Now that I know I wont do this any more (unless of course I am sure that no-one can see me ). My car is parked on the street at home - the tyres are a regular pissing post for dogs on a walk and I have never thought anything of it. So ... I would still like suggestions for where to get a boy to wee. Finding a 'blade of grass' only works if there is grass, and if it is wet, I cant put him on the grass anyway, which is why I usually head for somewhere flat and not too wet ... like the carpark. (BTW I love the haybales they have set up at benched shows for the dogs to toilet on - and they love them too - soooo much sniffing to be done ) -
Why Don't People Pick Up After Their Dogs At Shows?
BittyMooPeeb replied to TessnSean's topic in General Dog Discussion
Seriously? The dog is probably doing you a favour by washing some dust off the tyre . I did not realise that people considered car wheels an inappropriate place for a dog to wee. It's not like you touch them or can smell them or anything :p If there are no trees, where do others take their boys to wee? (obviously, I have been taking them to the car park ) I find it pretty offensive, especially if OH brings his car and it's brand new with a new set of rims on it too. My boys will pee on the grass , a pile of sticks, a few blades of grass, basically anywhere, they don't need trees and I certainly wouldn;t let them pee on someone's car, tent or close to them Yes you can smell when a dog has peed on your car wheels. Yes you do touch your car wheels - if you're one of those odd people who likes to actually check the air pressure on a regular basis and do you have ANY idea what dog pee does to alloy rims? Just bloody rude IMO - take your dog to YOUR car and let it pee on YOUR car if it doesn't bother you, why let it pee on someone else's property? To the longest piece of grass - my dogs have always peed when they've been asked to. My boy isnt tall enough to reach the rims -

What a lovely story Dogmad. Bebe sounds like such a character, and it is wonderful she got to live out her time with your love and company (and of course your tea!). I'm sorry she is gone, but am so glad she got to spend some time with you -
Hugs to you Daisy

Magic's Mum is here for six months for a showing holiday. Well, was six months, has just been extended to nearly 8 :D. She has been here since mid August. Piccie:

OK, I STARTED. Both show dogs had a 45 min walk tonight. They are so unused to long walks that they both fell asleep as soon as we got home . Then I had to spend 2 hrs getting all the grass, sticks and burrs out of their coats :D

Would anyone share examples of their stud agreements? I am creating one and would prefer to modify an existing one than start from scratch . I've searched DOL but not found anything on this
